Fantastically entertaining. The cast was on fire and worked so well together. The energy in the room left everyone with a smile on their face.

About
Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the landmark musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask that is “groundbreaking and ahead of its time” (Entertainment Weekly). This genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage. It’s about finding your other half; it’s the story of the origin of love.
Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, American Idiot) and starring Tony and Olivier Award-nominee Euan Morton, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the winner of four 2014 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival. It played to record-breaking sell-out crowds on Broadway and promises to take Chicago by storm with what Rolling Stone proclaims is “the best rock musical ever!”
May be inappropriate for children 12 and under. (Hedwig and the Angry Inch is recommended for mature audiences – for strong language and adult themes.)
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 3/19/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago Rating: 1 out of 5 The Worst
by Janet94 on 3/18/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoThis is the ONLY theater production I have ever walked out on. We waited until it was more than half way over, because we just kept hoping it would improve, but it never did. Also, I won't say I was offended because it takes a lot to offend me, but humping an audience members face was in poor taste. Our group of three wholeheartedly agreed that this was a HUGE waste of money and a big disappointment.
Rating: 3 out of 5 A great show
by peacelovemusic88 on 3/17/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoI have seen Hedwig and the angry inch before and own the soundtrack. It is an amazing story and recommend people see it! My problem is with the sound system at this show. I have never been to the Oriental Theatre before so not sure if it's the venue or just this particular sound system. Went with a few friends who have never seen the show/movie. They had a hard time understanding what the lyrics of the songs were and missed out. It was hard to understand what was being sang. Which took away from the overall potential the show had to be even more amazing.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Fantastic Show!
by Granover on 3/16/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoLoved it - but it's not for everyone. The performers were outstanding; I wish it was here longer so that I could see it again

by shelleybeth on 3/15/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoI was really curious about how this would translate to the stage, and they did a great job. The cast was phenomenal and let's be honest, this is all about the music. I was not disappointed. Go see it!
Rating: 5 out of 5 This show is AMAZING!!
by LisaMae77 on 3/15/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoI've never seen this show live before. I'm very familiar with the music and I have seen the movie version, which I love, but it doesn't even compare to seeing this show live. It is so powerful and the music is amazing. The actors were phenominal and I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys contemporary theater. The subject matter is mature, so be prepared for that. But the overall message is beautiful and it was a wonderful show.
Rating: 2 out of 5 NOT SO GOOD

Rating: 5 out of 5 Hedwig: good for the soul
by chipps289 on 3/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoIf you are going into this show without doing any research, you may be in for an interesting ride. Hopefully, you’ll let the music and powerful central character into your heart and you’ll have the time of your life. Keep in mind, this show is not for everyone. Even in 2017, many of its themes (gender roles, love, sexuality, belonging, wholeness) may be a bit too edgy for some. Hedwig is a character that is at times lovable yet mean, hilarious yet solemn, wise yet lost. But at her core, she is a pillar of strength. The show is incredibly witty and full of heart. We can all see a bit of ourselves in Hedwig. This is not your typical musical, so do not expect elaborate dance routines or complex set pieces. The show features such phenomenal songs and complex character development, it has more than enough to keep you on the edge of your seat without the normal musical theater trappings. Please give this show a chance. It speaks to anyone who has ever felt like a misfit, an “other”. Come with an open mind and get ready to lift up your hands!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Very good and entertaining evening

Rating: 4 out of 5 HEDWIG rocks!
by August16 on 3/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoThe vocalizations were powerful with a wide octave range. Both roles were amazingly voiced with Yitzhak, the husband, in a powerfully voiced. but not often heard character
Rating: 5 out of 5 Hedwig is a phenom
by enalapril on 3/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoI have loved this show since I first saw the movie in the early 90's. Seeing/hearing it live was a terrific experience. Hedwig hasn't aged a bit, and she's only become more relevant. Go now!!!
Rating: 2 out of 5 Hedwig was a bore
by JPJW on 3/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoI was Surprised that a "rock show" could be boring - but it was. The singing and music were excellent. Very poor sound production. Hedwig explained her life story in between songs - but it was so slow moving and difficult to hear, one fell asleep.
