Wonderful! Second one we've been to and can't wait to go back again for the next movie! The orchestra and the choir this time were exceptional!
We attended the HP&tSS last year - and were blown away by how interactive and fun it truly was. This year was quite disappointing. No audience participation - no excitement shown by the conductor. Overall - disappointing for the price we paid.
First let me say the symphony was AMAZING! The musicians did a phenomenal job. Would have given 5 stars however.....this was not what we expected at all. Maybe I didn't read the description well enough however if we knew it was watching the entire movie while the symphony played we probably wouldn't have bought tickets. All 3 of us have watched the movie a bunch and were thinking it was more of movie highlights. Would have much rather had highlights from all the movies than just watching one movie straight through.
The seats are super cramped in terms of leg space and situates you in an awkward upright position that hurts your lower back within 10 minutes of being seated. The facility is also very old, and the parking lot is as well, so you’d think the $8 for parking from all these years would go into renovations but I didn’t notice any. 15 years ago I used to have dance recitals here and the look and feel of the place hasn’t changed...which is a bad thing. I’ll be avoiding future performances here and look for Blumenthal hosting instead. Loved the performance but to be uncomfortable for 3 hours is kind of torture.
The show is outstanding. The symphony is so amazing that you can nearly forget they’re there because they’re so on point with the movie. A fantastic experience.
This is a fun experience! The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra does John Williams proud. The only negative thing is that it started late (the weather was bad so maybe that had to do with it). Can’t wait for Prisioner of Askaban- already in the works!
Having the live live orchestra made the event spectacular
Great show. Orchestra was top-notch. What a wonderful show. If you haven’t been to one of these, treat yourself! You’ll thank us later.
I’m excited for the rest of the movies to come. This has become a tradition with my best friend who equally loves Harry Potter.
This was such a wonderful show! The orchestra did amazing, and it was fun to see the music performed to the movie. I saw the Chamber of Secrets performance last year, and it was great too. I highly recommend this concert series! Also, parking and finding seating and overall logistics were very easy to figure out.
I had the best seat in the house....little foot traffic.... and I could see the whole orchestra and choir!! Amazing...
Something I found for my teenage son and I to do. He comes willingly and happily. It’s our third in the series and he’s excited to complete the series👍 You really do forget the orchestra is playing. They are flawless! It is nice when the credits roll so you can just appreciate and watch them play. Best of both worlds.
Very cool, fun performance! The orchestra was phenomenal and seeing the movie with the music front and center was great!
Excellent!!! The orchestra was amazing! The venue was fantastic.
It was exciting to take my 7 year old son to this show. It was his first time there! I have mamy memories of E.J. Thomas hall from when I was a child, playing in the youth symphony on stage,to having voice for the stage class there and making photos of the Black Keys was pretty memorable too. This time was special, as the Akron Symphony was playing live with the Harry Potter movie. Our seats were in the second row, our periphery was stacked with amazing compositions. I wish I could of brought my camera and some lenses. The sound was amazing. It was fun to be in front of so many great musicians. The symphony playing right in front of you is beautifully intense and so interesting. We both loved it! Happy to make memories with my child here! A really great venue!
This was our second Harry Potter Live in Concert. The energy was fantastic and the orchestra absolutely AMAZING! Looking forward to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in concert. We are sure to attend again.
The added choir was an added bonus! The show was great, can't wait for the next one!
The musicians worked hard and performed flawlessly! I've been to all 3 performances so far and plan to attend the rest!
It was just such an amazing way to watch a magical movie! We will be going to the next one which is coming sometime soon! Keep them coming! And so other movies as well it's just so cool to see such talent!
This was the first time I've seen something like this. I've been to many movies and I've been to many concerts, but putting the two of them together was really fantastic. I had a son with me who is a big Harry Potter fan, and this was an easy way to get him to appreciate the live orchestra, and all the work that goes into making the musical track for a movie. The audience, however, seemed to think they just purchased a movie ticket and forgot that there was a live orchestra. A large number of people got up right when the movie ended, starting making all kinds of noise, and exited the hall. I paid much more than I would have to just go see the movie in order to listen to and appreciate the live music, however there were a lot of people who were only there for the movie. They weren't just teenagers either, but older people who should know better. We stayed through the end of the credits and expressed appreciation for the orchestra and choir. I was able to explain to my young son the importance of being cultured and to have appreciation for the efforts of others. Concert was excellent, and I appreciated being able to look down on the conductor and see how he was able to keep the orchestra in time with the movie. The experience was great except for the audience.
