  • Magical!

by Patread on 10/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

The music was unbelievably beautiful...it enhanced the movie. The conductor made it welcoming and special for the entire audience.

  • Loved It (For Families and Couples)

by n33k on 10/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

I saw "'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' in Concert" not long ago and was very pleased! We saw it at Radio City Music Hall and it was breathtaking. So when movie #2 was announced, I was excited and bought tickets for it. The event itself was amazing and I found the NJPAC Prudential Hall venue to be incredibly well-suited for the event (a movie showing with live orchestra performing the soundtrack). I would recommend that if attending as a date or without children and if given the option of an afternoon or evening performance to go to the evening one...I felt a lot of the families focused too much on the "movie" and not the pairing of the live music with the movie. Some of the families (children AND their parents) had behavior that really did affect the performance.

  • Totally worth it! Great experience!

by Roxymama on 10/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Wasn’t totally sure how this would look, but exceeded my expectations. The symphony orchestra was amazing and made the viewing of the movie so special. Highly recommend with older kids and would definitely go again!

  • Hootin' and Hollerin' at Harry Potter

by UDChE89 on 10/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

The performance of the score to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by the NJSO was quite good. It was difficult at times to determine whether it was the orchestra playing or the soundtrack. Unfortunately, the amount of yelling and whistling at character entries or certain events made it difficult to hear the orchestra and took away from the experience. I expected a more sedate crowd.

by Anonymous on 10/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets a million times, but never with a live symphony orchestra! It was so magical to watch and listen to the symphony play so magically. I can't wait for the next opportunity to watch and listen to the NJSO!!!

  • The Best Is Yet To Come!

by Aries3218 on 10/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

I am a huge Harry Potter fan! But I will share that my husband wasn't until now. Never watched the whole series but decided to come along so I wouldn't be alone again since I went by myself for The Sorcerer's Stone. Let's just say that he is already counting the days with me for the nxt concert The Prisoner of Azkaban.

  • Definitely for all Harry Potter Fans

by Cinluhu on 10/31/17North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

We didn't expect many to be in Potter costumes but that made the experience even better. We enjoyed the CSO along with the movie scenes. Wonderful!

Essentially paid $60+ to watch a movie that I own. There was no way of knowing if the orchestra was actually playing the music or not. It sounded like it was just coming from the movie. The director also encouraged people to cheer and be loud during the movie which I found annoying. I wanted to enjoy the symphony, but everything was drowned out. We left at intermission.

  • Harry Potter Never Sounded So Good

by Solstice55 on 10/31/17North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Harry Potter accompanied by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra was in one word SPECTACULAR! The Symphony was flawless. The audience participation was so much fun. The 10 minute standing ovation at the conclusion of the program said it all. Recommend everyone see Harry Potter this way...JK Rowling herself would love it!

  • Great performance!

by Potterfan20 on 10/31/17North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

What a great performance! The orchestra was amazing. They played the whole movie as the orchestra plays. I never realized when there was and wasn't music till now. The only things I didn't like were people we still getting to their seats 20-30 minutes after the movie started. It was very annoying as we had to move to let them through. As soon as the movie ended people left while the orchestra was still playing. They played for an additional 5 or so minutes as the credits ran. Very annoying. There wasn't much of selection of harry potter memorabilia and I thought they were way overpriced.

  • Incredible experience

  • A must see event for any Harry Potter fan

by JeepWranglerGirl on 10/26/17Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This was an absolute joy to experience. Not only was the music perfect, but the conductor made a point beforehand to encourage us to not take the event too seriously. Laugh out loud at the moments that bring you joy. Boo for the moments that upset you. Cheer when your house is mentioned. It was so much fun. I truly hope they decide to do a whole series and bring each movie of the film series into a similar event.

  • Disappointing and Overprised

    by Mother107 on 10/25/17Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 1 out of 5

My ten-year-old and I were shocked to realize we had paid over $200.00 for a glorified showing of the ENTIRE movie we have at home--which my child has watched over 25 times--while the orchestra played in the background! At times, the movie audio was so loud and overwhelming that it looked like the orchestra wasn't even playing, only pretending. The biggest upset was to hear my 10-year-old beg to go home before intermission! Can you imagine my frustration?! All I was thinking was "$200.00!... $200.00!...with $200.00 I could've bought a piece of furniture, a beach getaway for the two of us, whole season tickets to the orchestra... at least ten things I need that money for." I'm so angry! Unfortunately, the most disappointing musical performance I've ever seen.

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • Harry Potter & the Sorcer’s Stone in Concert

    by Parretthead1 on 10/25/17Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This is a MUST SEE for every Harry Potter fan! The orchestra was outstanding. I would have sat through every single one of the Harry Potter movies if that meant the orchestra would keep playing. Some of the audience dressed up as their favorite character & a lot of children had their dress robes from their favorite house. We were encouraged to be verbally enthusiastic during the show. Can not praise the orchestra enough. The music score really makes the movie come to life! Excellent!!
