Red White & Boom & Hank-A Blast Even in the Rain!

by MYMY on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

Despite the constant rain, the fourth of July was a Blast!!! The entertainment was great and the beer was cold. There was everything anyone needed - ponchos, food, and alcohol, and plenty of porta-potties. The music was so good it made you forget you were standing in a downpour. Hank was the best, of course. All the others were great too. Hope to get to go next year. It's worth the wait through the traffic at parade time and the $5.00 poncho.

    Good Music but terrible service!

    by pixiesticks03 on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

The music was good..Hank did a great job! However, don't rely on the internet to tell you what you are allowed and not allowed to take into the concert. Apparently communication between the radio station and Lexington Center is extremely poor because online okayed duffel bags, but when we got to the concert, they refused to let us in. The ticket takers were extremely rude and even cussed at us. I have never witnessed such unprofessional and childish workers at an event. Normally Lexington Center has a good staff, but because of the man and woman who treated us so badly, I will never again go to an event that is affiliated with them.

I Hated the rain, it sucked, it even made me wake up with a sore throat, but after watching Hank Willims Jr. perform on that stage I would do it all over again. Hes wonderful, spirited and very funny. I love him and recomend everyone to come out and see him if given the chance to.

    Halfway to Hazard was super!!!!

by jocrack on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

I feel the band, Halfway to Hazard, was much more entertaining than Hank. It was a shame they put them on after the fireworks when so many people had gone home. They should have been the headliner band by far!!! Such energy, great songs, stage presence, voices blended into beautiful harmony and they compliment each other so well!! I was so impressed with this band and am looking forward to their new single coming out on the 20th of July. I would highly recommend this act and this event to my friends.

    I will NEVER go back!

    by Disappointed2009 on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

I hated this years event. This makes my second year attending, and it will be my last. It wasn't the rain so much, as it was the fans. EVERYONE there was drinking, I even thought I saw minors drinking. And then, I got reserved seating in ROW 1, right in front of the stage. However, after I got in, my ticket got wet; and as soon as I'd got up to get myself a beverage, someone took my seat. Then, when I came back with security to retreive the seat that was properly mine, they couldn't give it back. Because my ticket was wet, and smudged so you couldn't see the seat #, and the folks in my seats were drunk as could be; and the security woman said there was nothing she could do about it. And then, what I really hated was the scheduling of it all. Halfway to Hazard, was set to go dead last, which was the main reason I went. They were behind all of the other acts, even the fireworks. So, when the fireworks was over, I had to leave. I parked very far away, and a policeman said he would give me an escort if I would've left right then. So I did. And I'm highly disappointed. Not to mention, I'm horribly sick, from all of the rain, and coldness. Next year, they could at least put up a tent, for the fans who paid lots of money.

    Hank Jr.was outstanding

by rayne on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

Halfway 2 Hazard was just great, wish they played ealier and longer they were full of energy and really worked the crowd. (it was a shame that 1 of the best shows of the night played at the end after people were leaving)

    Whole show was great!

by Edna on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

The show was thoroughly entertaining. The only complaint I have is about the 45 minute break between every performer. I feel this was totally unnecessary and the time between each could have been only about 20-30 minutes.

    Keith Anderson was the greatest!

by kimt on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

It rained ALL day which meant could not take any pictures but only reason I went was to see Keith Anderson and he was amazing!! Was not happy with the prices of tickets this year they were too high and it really showed in how many people were there. Usually it is packed and there was lots of empty seats and the general admission area was almost empty and it is usually packed. Maybe they will change the prices back since it didn't go so well this year!! But overall Keith Anderson was great and that made me happy! Didn't stay and watch Hank Williams Jr so I don't know how his performance was!!

    Red White & Boom 2009

    by gmb58 on 7/5/09Rupp Arena - Lexington

I only saw two acts, Keith Anderson & Hank Williams, Jr. I had two young teen boys with me so they wouldn't have lasted through the entire showing. Great show. The only problem is the closer you are to the stage (section B, Row 14), the harder it is to appreciate the actual music and artist's talent because it is so loud. The further one is, the better I think. Anyway, even with the rain, it appeared everyone was having a good time! The last act, I believe was scheduled too late. We didn't stay due to an hour drive home. I would have liked to have heard them play.

    hank jr was great

by babe on 7/4/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

hank jr was great but for the price of the tickets I would have thought the concert would have lasted longer than two hours and beer for a 16oz can was $6 and that is a little crazy too

    Hank was awesome!!

by Bocephusfan on 7/4/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

The music sounded great. The venue is small, almost all seats have a good view.
