Truly great performance of Handel's Messiah

This may have been the best performance of all! The vocal and instrumental virtuosity, coupled with a highly creative interpretation breathed new life into this familiar oratorio. The conductor, who also played harpsichord, provided liberal freedom of expression to the soloists, resulting in thrilling performances. The choral sections were also very creatively interpreted. The best example of this was the contrast in vocal intensity and clarity demonstrated in the two sections of the #46 Chorus "Since by Man Came Death". Having the choral singers muffle their voices with their musical scores for the Grave portion, and then belt out the Allegro section unencumbererd was a stroke of conducting genius. Also, the This great performance by the BSO really set the tone for our entire Christmas season. Thank you!
