About

HAMILTON is the story of America then, told by America now.  Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre--a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, HAMILTON is based on Ron Chernow's acclaimed biography. It has won Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

  • AWESOME!!!!

by Staach on 12/1/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

I watched the Broadway version recorded for television, but nothing is as amazing and engaging as a live performance. Every actor brought their full talents to the musical. It was so great to see so many young people learning about American history presented by a multi-diverse and ethnic ensemble. Cudos and Brava to all of those involved, from stage hands, set decorators, actors, ...and oh not to forget the small orchestra that provided amazing background to the talented voices.

  • Voices and choreography are OUTSTANDING

The choreography in this production is so spot on that it is a joy to watch! The parts were played to perfection and it was a beautiful performance.

  • A must see for (almost) all ages!

Incredible cast! Wish program provided scene/act synopses to help ppl of varying ages and historical expertise follow along with the story. Also a running “subtitle” screen as with opera would be good to help audience keep up with fast-paced music. Was there an ASL performance?

  • Another amazing experience!

After seeing Hamilton with my sister, I returned with my granddaughter six days later and loved it once again. Most memorable was again G. Washington’s powerful solo that took my breath away. All actors were impressive whatever role they played including all those in the ensemble cast. King George was a different actor the second time but added his own twist to the character and was just as impressive. Would I see it live again? Most definitely!

  • Some good news and bad news

by Hickson on 11/29/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 3 out of 5

We were in the mid of the second balcony .. The good news is that the staging, acting and choreography was great . However to us (senior citizens), the fact that we could not understand over 80% of what was being said severely detracted from the overall performance. We understand that rap is fast and flowing, however the actors did not seem to enunciate (at times it appeared to be mumble) their dialogue properly, the audio had tooooooo much base. You should think about having headset capability or like in some opera productions, provide scrolling texting of what is being said. If you did not understand the history of Hamilton, a lot of this production would be lost. This is a quality production, remember that quality is defined in the clients eyes, not the production company's.

First time seeing Hamilton and it won't be the last! Fantastic music, dancing and message! As a senior I was worried I might not be able to hear/understand all the lyrics but it was loud and clear! We really had a great time!

Amazing experience! The show was outstanding! The venue, music, energy and sound was fantastic! We drove from Canada to see it and it did not disappoint! The cast members were extremely talented and outstanding!

  • Good but very chilly inside!!

by KAP on 11/27/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 4 out of 5

This show was good, but it was so cold in the auditorium, that it was hard to enjoy the show! I have been here many many times and it has never been like that! We paid a lot of money for these tickets and then to be so uncomfortable is really bad! One of the usher’s checked with House management about the cold and they were told it was an old building and the windows are not insulated. What a stupid excuse!

  • Eternal perfection

This was our third performance of this incredibly written show. Even though we avail ourselves of the Original Broadway Cast recording occasionally, there are always little nuances that we pick up at each of the performances that add to the experience. We took my brother and his wife, and they were in awe of Lin-Manuel Miranda's work. The recent airing of Ken Burns' documentary about the American Revolution seemed to add even more to some of the references in the performance. An incredible experience.
