by D.S. on 2/7/22I went to see the show on 2/4 and going back to see it before they leave Chicago. It was an excellent performance by ALL cast member. My favorite is Seaweed Stubbs. He definitely have soul!!

This was my first play I saw since the pandemic started, and my first time seeing HAIRSPRAY since seeing it in the cinema 15(!) years ago, and I would it met and even exceeded my expectations. Was mostly impressed with the immensely talented cast who sang their hearts out, but also loved the bright, colorful costumes and sets. The play also touches on themes of racial equality and civil rights in the 60s while staying optimistic and without coming off as preachy. Overall the play is just plain joyful and FUN! By the time you leave the theater you’ll be happier than when you walked in, and have “You Can’t Stop the Beat” playing on loop in your head for days on end. 100% recommend!

by J. H. on 2/4/22Hairspray in Chicago was every bit as good as I remember it being. Bright colors, hugely talented cast, and I walked out of that theatre tapping my feet and humming “You Can’t Stop the Beat”. Go see it while you have the chance!!
