About

Gretchen Wilson made headlines as a country star when her debut single “Redneck Woman” reached the top of the country singles chart. She was the first country artist to do that in years, and her single was the quickest to reach No. 1 in decades. Wilson’s country twang, sassy attitude and deep, soulful vocals draw fans to her concerts and tours, and the honesty in songs like “Redneck Woman” are her ticket to superstardom. Wilson’s most recent release, on her own record label (Redneck), is Christmas in My Heart – the last of three released in 2013, which include Right on Time and Under the Covers as the first two.

Wilson had a rough upbringing in rural Illinois, but she credits her girlhood with instilling in her the tough and strong attitude that makes her so popular with fans. At the age of 15, Wilson was discovered singing in bars and joined her first band, Sam-A-Lama. While “Redneck Woman” shot to the top of the charts and also earned her a 2004 Grammy Award, Wilson has released other successful tunes, like 2004’s “Here for the Party,” which reached the No. 3 spot on the Country Singles chart and the No. 39 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and 2005’s “Homewrecker,” which reached No. 2 on the Country Singles chart and No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wilson has come into her own as the head of her own label, and with the three new records she put out in 2013, she has proven that she remains a strong, powerful presence in the country music industry.

  • Too Long....5 opening bands??!!

by stormyseas on 8/31/09Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling HeightsRating: 2 out of 5

Annabelle Road was awesome. The other 4 openers were mediocre at best. Then 6 and 1/2 hours after the gates opened at 3:00pm, Gretchen Wilson come on stage, plays couple recognizable songs then 2 songs I'd never heard before off her new album. Gretchen then goes on to talk about her charity, introduce her band members and then starts playing covers - starting with a Foreigner song, then another cover song, then a mish-mash of ZZ Top, Metallica and others.......Does she not have enough of her own material to play a complete concert??? By now it's 10:30, at this point my wife and I walked out as did a lot of other attendees.

  • Spectacular Event

Purchased tickets when first available.......no mention of other bands, much less the fact they were locals, not name acts. Got there for concert around 4 for supposed 4:30 start, surprised to see posting showing she wouldn't go on stage until 9:30. This was disappointing, except for a few acts. Gretchen was great, but her band was even greater. Gretchen should think about a crossover album with country and rock combined.

  • Gretchen was great!

by Sparky28 on 8/31/09Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling HeightsRating: 4 out of 5

Concert was great for the most part. There were too many local start up bands (5) and I wasn't expecting the rock numbers. Her performance was energetic and fast paced.

  • Amazing

The show was awesome, and a great time was had by all. Gretchen made us feel like we were in Nashvile the entire evening. Can't wait to obtain here upcoming recordings. She and her band are just GREAT. In addition to being a super performer, Gretchen is also very supportive of several various nonprofit organizations. Charity Music of Michigan is proud, and greatful, to have her as a friend.

  • Gretchen Wilson rocked !!

by bricklynn on 8/30/09Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling HeightsRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen Gretchen Wilson three times. It's true I'm a huge fan, but this really was the best show so far. She rocks and brings an "every woman" appeal to her show. It's fun, energetic and , of course, an incredibly entertaining show. I'm looking forward to the new record due out around Thanksgiving. I really feel her new freedom with her own record label is going to bring some amazing songs and performances. Personally, I can't wait.

  • Gretchen ROCKS!!

by Buckeyechick on 8/30/09Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

What a voice! Tons of energy and an incredible band. A perfect concert for me. Whether you like Country, Rock, Southern Rock or all of the above, Gretchen has it all. She can sing the phone book and I'd listen just because her voice is so pure and strong. If there is such a thing as a classy Redneck she's it!!

  • Loved Gretchen. Pretty neat venue

The location was beautiful. Great Sound, very friendly & helpful attendants. Gretchen was AMAZING!!!! A Fabulous performer. Wondered why there wasn't more advertisment about the event. Several opening acts, were great, Specially ANNABELLE ROAD. Would love to see more of them! Needs additional promotions. But over-all, A Great Time!!!

  • Gretchen Is Awsome!

by Harley2005 on 8/30/09Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

Gretchen and the band were great, lots of energy! I highly recommend to everybody to go one of Gretchen's concert, it's very exciting. From time she got on stage to the end of the show the whole crowd was on their feet! I was a little disappointed with the Meet & Greet program, I realize that there is just so much time for these and a lot people meet & greet. I got to say Hello, get my arm autographed, a photo by their people and I was outa there. Congrats to the folks that won a back stage pass at the show! Gretchen, I'd love to really meet you sometime! xoxo "Butch"

  • Gretchen Rocked the House!

by stoneski31 on 8/30/09Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

Gretchen Wilson puts on a fabulous show - her voice and her band are incredible! My only complaint is, there were a few empty seats in the lower bowl area of the pavilion... why couldn't we be allowed to move up when they were empty? It was nice to move off the lawn, in the rain, into the upper bowl, gratis... why not allow the paying customers to move up more?

  • She rocked!

by timntam on 8/30/09Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling HeightsRating: 4 out of 5

Great concert. Wish she would have performed her song "Come to bed" but that was ok. Great down to earth redneck woman!!

  • Gretchen Wilson "Rockin Redneck"

by MikeKraj on 8/26/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

I was pleasantly surprised tonight. Gretchen Wilson, the "Redneck Rocker". She set the tone right off the bat and got the party started with her hit "Here for the Party". She rocked all night with hits that also included "Homewrecker","Politically Incorrect" "Don't make me Take my Earrings off", and of course "Redneck Woman". She slowed it down a bit with "When I Think About Cheatin". The crowd was just ok, not like the ones that you get at the Susquehanna Bank theatre or the Wachovia Center, i guess that's what to be expected at a casino with all the comps. It was funny seeing all the old people leaving in the middle shaking their heads, I guess they didn't know what to expect. This sure aint the Country Music they remember! Now that Gretchen broke away from Sony, and started her own record label,(Redneck Records) we can expect some awesome "Female Southern Rock". Her first CD on her new label is due out sometime this fall.

  • Gretchen was INCREDIBLE!!!!

by auntbubby on 8/25/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Her show was the best yet!! I have gone to see Gretchen for the past 3 years in Atlantic City and she is just amazing!! Every year is better than the last! I had great seats, of course, front row would have been the best, but the Grand Theater does not have a bad seat at all. Her performance was great, she is the best! She interacted with the crowd, she discussed her charity and foundations which just shows how down to earth she is and that she cares. I had the opportunity, for the third year in a row to meet her and she is so down to earth and friendly. The sound quality was amazing and she sang every song I wanted to hear and then some! Her stage set up was great, loved the "redneck woman" doll. I will continue to see her in concert everytime she comes to my area. I LOVE GRETCHEN!!!!!!!!!

  • Gretchen Wilson in Atlantic City

by closetcountry1 on 8/24/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

The show was very good and she is gorgeous in person. The whiskey drinking on stage sends a poor message to her younger, more impressionable fans, but what the heck...it's her liver. Lots of energy...not a very long concert for the money.

  • Gretchen Wilson was amazing!!!!

The show was terrific, her voice is absolutely powerful!

  • GOT YOUR COUNTRY!!

by LERBACH on 8/23/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen GW perform in several concerts, and I feel that she is the most gifted and natural born singer, writer and performer to hit the country music world. She is going to break loose with her "new look" of being the first EVER female Southern Rock artist!! Wait and see once she releases her up and coming new cd release "I Got Your Country Right Here"! Because . . . . . she performed in Atlantic City on 8/22 a handful of her new songs and you could just feel the positive reaction from the audience!

  • Gretchens show was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
