Gretchen Wilson made headlines as a country star when her debut single “Redneck Woman” reached the top of the country singles chart. She was the first country artist to do that in years, and her single was the quickest to reach No. 1 in decades. Wilson’s country twang, sassy attitude and deep, soulful vocals draw fans to her concerts and tours, and the honesty in songs like “Redneck Woman” are her ticket to superstardom. Wilson’s most recent release, on her own record label (Redneck), is Christmas in My Heart – the last of three released in 2013, which include Right on Time and Under the Covers as the first two.
Wilson had a rough upbringing in rural Illinois, but she credits her girlhood with instilling in her the tough and strong attitude that makes her so popular with fans. At the age of 15, Wilson was discovered singing in bars and joined her first band, Sam-A-Lama. While “Redneck Woman” shot to the top of the charts and also earned her a 2004 Grammy Award, Wilson has released other successful tunes, like 2004’s “Here for the Party,” which reached the No. 3 spot on the Country Singles chart and the No. 39 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and 2005’s “Homewrecker,” which reached No. 2 on the Country Singles chart and No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wilson has come into her own as the head of her own label, and with the three new records she put out in 2013, she has proven that she remains a strong, powerful presence in the country music industry.

AS ALWAYS, GRETCHEN IS AN AWESOME ENTERTAINER. NOTE NOW THAT SHE IS ON HER OWN RECORD LABEL, THE PARTY IS A PARTY. WITH LESS ENFORCEMENT AND TOTAL CONTROL OF HER SHOW YOU DEFINATELY GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SEE AGAIN SHOW.
Gretchen Wilson is one small chick with lungs of a giant. She rocks country and otherwise as she starts her show and doesn't quit even when the show is over! SHE ROCKS!! I was very impressed even if her fiddle player was in the hospital (hope he is getting better). We had a wonderful time and really liked Shiree who took the stage in a rendition of Anne & Nancy Wilson. Like I said, Gretchen came on with both lungs screaming and the melodies coming out of that lady were amazing. But then anyone who is in the muzik mafia would know - they KNOW how to sing!
Although the show it self was good the lines to get in where tooo long. Instead of having ticket holders in one way and non ticket holders in another they put everyone together which made for a very long what.... After getting in and watching the show they had an autograph session afterwords which turned out to be another long wait with people in line waiting and people trying to get out and go home in the same area. On top of all that the security personal I felt was not doing a very effective job controlling the situation. All in all again it was a good show but the security and managment teams need to do some better planning for future crowd control.
She was awesome and I loved her new music, BUT I was so disappointed because they shut down the autograph line right at US. I have been a fan club member since the beginning and paid the dues even when she wasn't touring - I didn't feel appreciated for my dedication that night
8 Second Saloon is a nice venue, with plenty of room and activities to entertain. The show itself was a letdown. First Band did not begin playing until 9PM, doors open at 6 with first band promoted as beginning at 7:45PM. Gretchen began playing after 10PM the songs were not as expected (only one country song) ... her country music style was what had prompted us to make the purchase and go to the show. For us the distance is an issue and we had the added expense of accomodations for the evening. For this particular Artist I will gladly pass on any further shows and listen to my Gretchen CD when in the mood.
If you are a Gretchen fan get out and see this show!! She put on an amazing show with a great band and an unforgettable back up singer Cherie Oakley who use to sing with Carrie Underwood. All the new material is great and Gretchen has started her own record company. She also stayed after to sign autographs and take pictures. Unfortunately security at this venue was not organized well for the meet n greet and rushed us through at the end so we only got stuff signed, no photos or hello's. Hope to see her again soon and can't wait for the new cd March 30th!!
she put on a great show and sang some new songs keep up the good work
This was one of the best venues that anyone wanting a good crowd could use for a concert. Not to many people in a convenient location.
Gretchen Wilson put on an awesome show, like she always does. I love the smaller settings, get you up closer to the artist. She even came down after the show and had few drinks at the bar. I just wish it wouldve started earlier and she played longer.
Gretchen was amazing. The setting being a bar-saloon was awesome the concert was fantastic.Gretchen's ability to rock the crowd was unbelievable. Can't wait for her to come back !!!! The fact that she let her back-up singer do a solo shows the type of sharing ,real person she is.And may I add that girl, chery was her name, was totally outstanding !!!
I love Gretchen but I went hoping to hear mostly her music off her CDs. She played many rock and roll cover tunes. I don't know why since she has so many good tunes of her own. I had a good time at the bar with friends, but hope if I do see her again, she'll be more honky tonk and play her own music.
AMAZING!! She's sooo fun to watch and such a great entertainer!
I am not a fan of country music by any means. But this concert was AMAZING!!! She was totally into the crowd, played some awesome music and it seemed more like a rock concert than what I assumed a country concert to be. She played her songs, as well as a lot of rock'n roll songs. She made a statement that she is a little bit country and a "whole lot of rock and roll". I would recommend her concerts to anyone wanting to have a good time! The only down fall I had was with the concert hall. The cigarette smoke was thick. When the staff walked by with flash lights you could see the beams of light cutting through the smoke. When the concert ended, all my clothing smelled like cigarette smoke. But that's the price you pay for seeing an awesome concert in a bar! 5 star recommendation...... coming from a guy who doesn't listen to country music!
Couldn't hear her. Left early because I couldn't hear her singing. Is this long enough!!!
She Rocked it out for sure!! Come back soon Gretch
venue was great even general admission were great for viewing and dancing! The line setup for signing T- Shirts was unorganized and confusing, WORK ON THAT Gretchen , words cannot describe she belted out the numbers with such energy ,the whole croud was on fire. I'm not acountry fan, I only went because of the wife, but I'm glad I did!
PERFECT ENVIRONMENT FOR HER I KNEW WHEN THIS CONCERT WAS ANNOUNCED SHE WOULD LOVE THE PEOPLE AND PLACE. SHE LOVES THE SMALL AUDIENCES AND THEY LOVE HER. I SEE A LOT OF COUNTRY ENTERTAINERS AND SHE IS RIGHT UP AT THE TOP GREAT SHOW THANK YOU GRETCHEN AND THE BAND
Concert was good, wanst all that... I guess $20 pretty much sums it up! That's about what we got... It seemed like the opening band(S) played just as long as Gentchen if not longer... It was a pretty good concert but wasn't all that. & i love Gretchen Wilson. Over all pretty good concert. Love the intersection! Gretchen, sing more that 5 songs.! lol
2 opening bands, first "gunner" was ok but the second "usual suspects" was great. Gretchin was fab played new stuff which was good and old hits which were great.
