About

Gretchen Wilson made headlines as a country star when her debut single “Redneck Woman” reached the top of the country singles chart. She was the first country artist to do that in years, and her single was the quickest to reach No. 1 in decades. Wilson’s country twang, sassy attitude and deep, soulful vocals draw fans to her concerts and tours, and the honesty in songs like “Redneck Woman” are her ticket to superstardom. Wilson’s most recent release, on her own record label (Redneck), is Christmas in My Heart – the last of three released in 2013, which include Right on Time and Under the Covers as the first two.

Wilson had a rough upbringing in rural Illinois, but she credits her girlhood with instilling in her the tough and strong attitude that makes her so popular with fans. At the age of 15, Wilson was discovered singing in bars and joined her first band, Sam-A-Lama. While “Redneck Woman” shot to the top of the charts and also earned her a 2004 Grammy Award, Wilson has released other successful tunes, like 2004’s “Here for the Party,” which reached the No. 3 spot on the Country Singles chart and the No. 39 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and 2005’s “Homewrecker,” which reached No. 2 on the Country Singles chart and No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wilson has come into her own as the head of her own label, and with the three new records she put out in 2013, she has proven that she remains a strong, powerful presence in the country music industry.

  • Finally seeing Gretchen Wilson on stage!

I have looked forward to seek g Gretchen Wilson perform LIVE for quite a while. Unfortunately, she was admittedly sick, but making the best of it...certainly not her fault. But, seems the band/ music was too loud. She had already stated that she didn't have much voice....seems they could turn the guitars down so she wouldn't have to struggle so much and we could actually hear her instead of just the music. I enjoyed the mixture of country and rock music! Perfect! Maybe next time will be better & I hope she comes back soon.

  • Gretchen Wilson was awesome!

This was our first concert at Ho-Chunk. It was a nice venue, smaller and a little more personal!

This is the 2nd concert that I've heard Gretchen in and she is one of the few performers who sounds just as good live as her recorded music.

Too bad for those that did not attend Gretchen Wilson's solid performance! Seats were empty, but she played to a "full house"!! Music was up-beat with her singing a little rock, blues and most of all country!! Band sounded great, kudos to all!! Would like to write her to thank her for her great performance, how do I find an address for her?? A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO GRETCHEN WILSON AND BAND AND UPTOWN THEATER, we will be back!! -Virginia , Petaluma, CA 94954-

  • Gretchen Topped the 100+ Concerts I've been to!!!

    by 1BigSmile on 3/23/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

This was by far the best concert I've seen. ...Congrats to Gretchen for the start of Redneck Records!!! ... As soon as she walked on stage my jaw dropped. She is far more beautiful in person. Almost unrecognizable. And that voice!! Recordings are awesome but do not justify the power of her voice. She seemed to be all I admired about her, a real person. And she drank booze backed by beer! :) There's not a lot of us ladies who can do that! ;) The venue was a little small, but it had its perks. The concert seemed more personal than at a larger venue. My friend and I were able to tell her we loved her and be heard. I sat center with her mic. There were a few times we had eye contact and I'm pretty sure she was tryin' to shoot a t-shirt directly at me, too bad there was a football star in between who made a helluva interception. ;) GREAT concert!

  • Gretchen Rocks the Napa Wine Country!

    by MelissaFanSince1992 on 3/22/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

I took my best friend who is a huge fan. It was my friends birthday on the 19th and she had seen her two days before at Gold Country Casino in Oroville, CA, with some other friends. Both concerts were good but the Napa concert had a different feel to it. The Oroville concert was in a Casino with Napa being at the Uptown Theatre Napa. It was a beautiful venue and Gretchen seemed to have a great time too. I was amazed that this event did not sell out but those of us that came a distance to see her were on our feet the whole time. Gretchen came out with her signature holla WEEEEELLLLLLLLL and we were on our feet. She looked great, barefoot and all. My friend has seen her before and was happy that she got to shake her hand again. It was my first time to see Gretchen and I was impressed. She is a beautiful, talented, rock'n country girl and I enjoyed it completely. I got a pick from a stage hand that really topped off my friends Birthday nicely. Thank You Gretchen. Meanwhile, hopefully my friend may get her voice back some time next week.

  • Boo! Very, very disappointed and walked out

by Groupe on 3/22/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 1 out of 5

Half the place was empty, I guess they knew more than we did. She lost more than her label. She must have lost the rights to her songs too. She sang one new song, and two originals. Most songs were Led Zepplin, Journey etc. a drum solo. Great musicians but we didn't pay to see the garage band style concert. Llighting blinded the front rows and several people had to move up in the balcony seating though, paid for orchestra. Others kept shading their eyes. You couldn't see the band, it was blinding! Saw several couples leave before the concert ended and six leave before the last song. She announced it was a Led Zepplin song. What a waste. We came to see Gretchen Wilson country singer not rock and roller. I will go see Disturbed or Korn again when I want rock. Seeing Voo Doo Daddy this Friday. Hope they aren't "born again" too.

  • Excellent

by DaveBS on 3/22/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

Gretchen Wilson is a consummate professional . She's versatile and is at home in any genre of music . Her band is talented and very tight. Even her roadies were professiona, I watched them set up and was very impressed that there were no issues, at least from what i saw. The concert at the Uptown theater was one of, if not the very best concert I've ever attended . It was my first time at the uptown and I will be back. it's a very nice venue with plenty of parking close by. Gretchen Wilson can work a crowd and is truly amazing. she is by far one of the most talented performers I've ever seen. Great Great Concert

  • What a Night!!!

    by 2sistersnightout on 3/22/11Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

What a great night at the Uptown Theater in Napa. Not only was the theater itself fantastic but the show was amazing. Four Year Bender was the opening act from the Bay Area and they were a great way to get the evening started. But the clear highlight of the show was definitely Gretchen Wilson and her superb band. An hour and a half of incredible music, some new, some old and some cover. What a voice that girl has!

  • Fun!

by 2Countryfans on 3/8/11The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - WindsorRating: 5 out of 5

Gretchen is a extremely down to earth talented entertainer. What a great great show. She has a voice of gold and sing anything the talented band can play. She mixes her great country toons with some old rock and roll that brings back great memories for my wife and I. We will see her every time she comes near our town. The casino Windsor venue is a great affordable place to see a show. Not a bad seat in the house.Great job Gretchen. Thanks a lot.

  • Gretchen sounds even better live than on a CD!

  • Gretchen Rocked.......8Seconds Stinks!!

by PSecretGarden on 3/7/118 Seconds Saloon - IndianapolisRating: 3 out of 5

When we arrived at the venue we had to pay an additional $10.00 to have access to the lower section and they forced everyone in to reserved seats after I had bought a tickets to GA event. Not even sure that it was legal at the time, but felt like i had no choice if i wanted to see gretchen from the area i had already bought a ticket for! :( The show put on by gretchen was great, she always puts on a good show!! However Id recommend she find a different venue to visit when she comes to Indy. This place is does not care about the fans or the music experience, they just wanna make money!!

  • by ArchangelMikhail on 3/7/118 Seconds Saloon - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

As usual, Gretchen puts on a great show! Excellent setlist and excellent sound. Aboslutely no complaints.
