Green Day redefined punk rock in a post-grunge world. Rising from the Bay Area punk scene in 1987, the band released several EPs before coalescing into their long-standing lineup of vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. The trio shared the independent album Kerplunk in 1991 before releasing their major label debut Dookie in 1994. Behind singles like “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” which each topped the Alternative Airplay chart, Dookie reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Dookie earned Green Day three Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the album continues to stand as the band’s best-selling release with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Green Day followed with 1995’s Insomniac and 1997’s Nimrod, with the latter boasting the band’s biggest creative shift with the rare acoustic single, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” After 2000’s Warning, Green Day spent the next few years developing their first of several ambitious projects, the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot. The album became Green Day’s first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it logged two Top 10 singles with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” American Idiot garnered seven Grammy nominations and won two, including Best Rock Album. The band won the Best Rock Album Grammy again with 2009’s concept album 21st Century Breakdown. A stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway in 2010 and won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for the cast recording. Furthermore, Green Day were first-ballot inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

I have been waiting to see Greenday forever...it was the best concert I have been to by far. They are an amazing band and i highly recommend going if u can!!!
Hey hey, this was my first chance to see Green Day live and I must say it was one of the best shows I have seen in my 33 years of concert going!. They were rocking! I took my 14 yr old son and his friend (who by the way this was the friends first concert ever) and the guys were having the time of their lives. Thank you Green Day for starting your 2009 tour in Seattle, we fans from all around the area really appreciated the show..
The show started off with the good old "Pink Bunny", Hillarious.... as usual! Then Green Day comes out and puts on a stunning performance with lots of Piro. It's always so amazing to me because they sound so good live and no matter what the tour is, they always play a huge variety of their new and older music. GREEN DAY ROCKS!!!
It was a great concert to see Greenday's passionate performance. All the audience became one and they all seemed to enjoy the show as I did. I knew Greenday for almost 7 years now and they did not change at all: Their appearance and passion for punk rock never wither away ! Greenday will rock you for 2 hours nonstop!! Billie Joe rocks!!! >_<
I have been to several concerts and this one was by far the best.
Took my daughters, and what a great show it was! One of my faves of recent years...the showmanship was fantastic, musically they were in tip-top form, high-energy, and the effects and pyrotechnics were...a blast. (I know...groan.) It was awesome to see Billie Joe interacting with the audience, and pulling the kids out to dance, sing and play guitar--must have been a dream come true for them! Lots of fun, and so glad to have been able to share it with the girls!
Sooo... I've been to several shows for lots of bands. Green Day, I thought would be one of the hardcore shows... but the crowd sucked. I've seen MXPX, NOFX, New Found Glory... all had more moshing and more activity in the crowd. The concert was amazing since it is Green Day, and I love them... but if you go don't get GA tickets if you aren't going to get into it. Also.. too many little kids in GA only causes problems, with kids getting hit in the face or shoved. They should be up in the seats so they can see. I'm 5'7", and I had to move around a bit since there's a lot of taller people out there. We ended up a lot closer to the stage than I thought we would get, but only cuz the crowd was pretty lame, and obviously the closer you get the more hardcore fans you find. It wasn't bad... but I was disappointed with the lack of energy by the crowd.
Green Day was AWESOME! I'd love to see them again. So glad I got to see them at least once. I'll remember this concert forever.
The band sounded awesome and the vocals were easy to hear even with the loudness of the music. The set was great and changed to meet the mood of every song. They did a lot of stuff involving the audience. If you're in general admission you're gonna have a good time. They brought a young kid on stage to dance with them, 3 people on stage at different points to sing with them, and they even let a teen guitarist play all of Jesus of Suburbia with the band (using Billy's guitar off his back!) while Billy Joe sang the vocals. I'm sure the teen will be talking about that moment for years to come! They also threw some shirts, drum sticks, and sprayed the audience with water guns. Decent selection of shirts and gear. Most of the shirts were $35 and black.
The show was simply amazing. It was awesome, the lights, fireworks, graphics on the back drops, all unforgettable. The worst part was when it ended. They literally captured the phrase "leave the audience wanting more"
This show was incredible, I would recommend it to anyone, regardless if they even like Green Day.
Awsome..... Grean Day rocked Seattle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once again Green Day provides Seattle with a music experience that far surpasses any other. A fantastic mix of new hits with old favorites makes this concert a must hear for all audiences. The only thing detracting from this amazing performance was the venue - after paying for expensive seats we were sandwiched behind a two-row area that is usually reserved for handicapped seating - Key Arena placed temporary seating in the row in front of us that didn't fit correctly and because of that there was NO space for anyone in our row to put their legs, it was miserable.
Green day kicked Seattle's ass. Billy Joe is the hardest working man in show business, and he absolutely proved this to be true. The crowd was pumped from beginning to end and knew every song. The band was tight and a fan played guitar on jesus of suburbia while billy joe sang. He nailed it. Mike Dirnt played his bass to death and sang great. Trey cool was a crazy man and drummed like there was no tomorrow. this was truly a concert that I will always remember. Green Day are the best!
Definitely one of my top 5 favorite concerts of all time! The crowd interaction was the best, Billy Joe has quite the sense of humor! They played new songs and old songs and played about 2 hours....it was GREAT!!
I've seen them about 6 times since 94, and this was definitely one of the best showings. Hit most of their catalog, mixed it up well (although nothing pre-Dookie). They are unbelievably tight musically, navigating each song through the sharp turns. Truly impressive. Nothing but respect for them. If your looking for a great time, I recommend them, they play the stapes. One request, next time you come to WA, could you slip in Panic Song (you played the intro), and Going to Paq. That would be awesome. Thanks for the memory.
Great band from Seattle IN Seattle!! Great energy - audience participation. Awesome show!! Amazing vocals.
EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY GETTING INSIDE. THE SEATS WERE CLOSE ENOUGH WHERE I COULD SEE THE BAND AND I KNEW ALL THE SONGS! I WAS SURPRISED THE SOUND WAS SO CLEAR AND THE GUITAR SO LOUD YET NOT OVER-POWERING. FOR A BAND THAT HAS BEEN AROUND, THEY PLAY EVEN BETTER NOW, MORE MATUE AND MORE NEW SONGS. THE STADIUM WAS FULL AND THE PEOPLE AROUND ME WERE GETTING INTO THE MUSIC, SINGING, DANCING, IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS I HAVE BEEN TO! AND I HAVE BEEN TO MANY AROUND THE COUNTRY,
I took 3 of my boys and they were in Awe!! Great show!1
