  • Dynamic play and performance

by Anonymous on 1/11/14Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 5 out of 5

The musical's success is based on the power of the Green Day songs. The songs, however, are knit together into an interesting three part story. The sets were imaginative and the performance was Very entertaining. The voices were usually quite strong. The sound quality in the Adler Theatre was solid, no real flaws.

  • Great musical

    by Brices121 on 1/11/14Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 4 out of 5

My expectations were too high. I had just gone to Green Day in concert not to long before this show and was blown away. I felt at times that the male vocalists were singing their best. I felt that the female vocalists really stole the show. The musical had a good story line that I think that I could easily relate to as a 30 something, but felt that there should be more. I would recommend it to any Green Day fan but make sure they know it isn't Green Day so don't expect a Green Day show. I would recommend it to a Rock Musical fan but warn them that it is a bit of short show.

  • Music was great!

by Anonymous on 12/12/13Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 3 out of 5

The music was incredible! The story not so much. Characters on the couch smoking a bong throughout the production got old. The choreographed heroine tube ballet was a bit much. The couple in bed grinding like rabbits could have been toned down. We got the point. Those things took away from the great performers and musicians. They are so talented.

The show was awesome! I was amazed to see so many 50+ year old people there.

Music, singing, and dancing were great. Did not like or understand the "story". Very negative, without hope.

I normally don't write reviews, but wanted to warn parents about bringing anyone under the age of 17 to this show. There is a lot of profanity and sexual content. I made the mistake of bringing my 13 year old son to this show, and the content was not appropriate for someone his age. We left after 45 minutes, and I saw a few other families with young teens leave before we did. I love Green Day, and would recommend it to any ADULT Green Day fan.

  • American Idiot is Fantastic!

by JJJonesie on 12/11/13Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

It was soooo worth eating Ramen for a month to save for the tickets!!!!! The set design was perfect! So fitting for the show! I did have a bit of trouble hearing the lyrics clearly and a couple people were almost drowned out the instruments- but since I know the words by heart, I could fill in the blanks :-) I believe not hearing the lyrics clearly was more of a problem with the vocalist's pitch being same as some of the insturments rather than the venue equipment.

  • Amazing!

I loved it from the opening curtain to the closing curtain! I took my 13 year old daughter and her friend and they were wowed as well!

I was sad to see that the amazing show ended. It was breathtaking. I loved it from start to finish. It was put together wonderfully and I would/ can't wait to see it again!

We loved it. Our only negative was we should have sat a few rows back because of the volumne.

  • Great adaptation of Green Day's best album

    by Ralph2818 on 12/11/13Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Loud, profane, tons of attitude, and a total lack of respect for middle of the road values. It was exactly what I had hoped for. The singing and backup musicians were excellent. The story written to support the songs was believable and had continuity. A very intense 90 minutes. They put the throttle down and it really didn't let up. The dancing was also quite good. The songs that weren't on the album also fit. The encore was the Green Day ballad Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) with the entire cast playing guitars.

Very disappointed in the performance. Foul language was unnecessary. Sexual content was overdone. Promotion of drug use was offensive. The duration of the play was very short and if an intermission was inserted, I would have departed the theatre. The music director being positioned on stage was a distraction.

  • Powerful performance

    by Rogersmom007 on 12/11/13Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

With a backdrop of TV screens symbolizing our inundation of media, this play juxtaposes the daily muck of young people just trying to figure out who they are with the pressures of a world gone mad and going to war. There are consequences in life to the choices we make: to having sex, using drugs, losing life and limb serving in the military and the risky choice to become an artist. I have such a greater appreciation for the album now. The live music being played on stage was particularly enjoyable.

  • Great Performance!

The show was great and the music even better. If you get a chance you should see this show.

  • American Idiot

    by Sandy1959 on 12/10/13Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

We knew nothing about the story line before the show; we just knew we loved Green Day's music. The program started out a little slow, but quickly picked up. The cast was amazingly talented and gave an outstanding performance. It's as close to Green Day as you can get without the mayhem of a concert. Loved it and highly recommend it.

  • Green Days American Idiots was awesome!

The whole cast had incredible energy! The music was spot on. I took my daughter so that she could critique it for her school assignment. It was pretty cool!

First time to see a Broadway Show for oldest son and fiancee.......they loved it!!! Reminiscent of Tommy and RENT........good production.......strange dancing, but sound was excellent!!!

  • Great singing

by Coachpjv on 12/10/13Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 3 out of 5

The songs were awesome....I loved all the green day music. The storyline was a bit weird and didn't really have much of a plot to it (very hard to follow as well). Other than that it was good. Would have rather gone to a green day concert though.

Great show. It was weird at first to hear someone else singing these songs, but your brain adjusts pretty quickly to realize that it's not supposed to be green day and to watch the story unfold. Cast was great and show was very entertaining!
