This had been my first time ever seeing Grand Funk Railroad in concert & I was amazed at how good the entire band still is & they still sound just like they did 20 years ago. I will go see them again if they come. I'm Your Captain has always been my favorite song by them.
We will go every time they come close...They put on an amazing show. I recommend it to everyone.
Max Carl and the rest of the band rocked it and served up classic GFR at the Belterra Casino in Indiana. Carl channeled Farner so well you wouldn't have known that it wasn't Farner. The band offered up a mixed play list from throughout the GFR library that kept the audience moving. The amount of gray hair in the audience meant nothing when it came to feeling the Funk!
What a great show! 40 years of Funk. The Band was outstanding, Belterra Casino & Spa was the best place to see them play. Great songs, well planned show. It was more than worth the time & money to get there.
wonderful show, would love to go again and again. GFR knows how to rock the house!
It was the first time I got to see Grand Funk live. The seats I had were great. Possibly only 50 feet from stage. Definitely my favorite band in the 70's. Belterra is a great venue for a concert, just the right size arena. The sound system was fantastic and the new musicians with them were very talented.
While the excitement and energy level of the band was great, the sound did not impress me. I was at a concert the night prior to this at the same venue, and the sound was 100 times better. I would also have liked to purchase some items of band merchandise from the show, but the only thing they were selling was 2 different versions of the same tee shirt. You would think they would be selling as much merchandise as possible to increase their profits. Other than that I would not pay to see this act again.
GFR was awesome, I was a first timer, finally got to see my favorite song growing up "Closer To Home", and I have to say, I loved it (and the whole night)! Everyone was singing along by then and I must have hit the high note perfectly because the guy in front of me turned around and high fived me out of the blue. "Shinin On" and a whole lot of others I've almost forgotten blew the crowd away. I'll see them next time our paths cross, that's for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were fantastic! Great energy and their greatest songs!
AWESOME CONCERT , POWERFULL ORIGINAL MEMBER DRUMMER & BASSIST. AWESOME LEAD SINGER!
GFR can still rock! I was in the front row and they sounded great. The drummer is one of the original members of the band and he is one of the greatest drummers I have seen. The singer is awesome. He has a great blues voice.
The lead singer sucked ruined the show as far as I am concerned, good voice stage presence was very bad Should have left GF as a good memory
I saw Grand Funk in Hawaii in 1973 and they were just as energetic in 2009! Would definitely go again!
I loved the show...the band was fantastic..the audience got involved and there was dancing in the aisles. It was great!! It took me back to a more fun time in life!!
Growing up in the 70's Grand Funk Railroad was on My favorites list, first in 8-tracks, albums then Cassettes. When I heard they were STILL touring I couldn't pass up another opportunity to see them again (30 years later). Needless to say Mark, Don & Mel never sounded so good, even better than the albums I still own to this day. I took My girlfreind who only knew of them by a couple of Top 40 songs and she was hooked! Kudo's to the GFR, they truely represent what one would call "An American Band", rock & roll at it's finest. Thank you guys for not throwing in the towel, My kids look forward to catching one of your shows in the near future.
I saw Grand Funk Railroad in 1971 in Dallas right after I got back from my tour of Viet Nam.I saw them again in 1999 in Tyler Texas. The show at Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth was as good as the other two. The amount of energy these guys bring after forty years was incredible! Don Brewer still powers the drum solo as good as I remember and Mel's bass playing on "Inside Looking Out is as strong as possible and reminded me of the first time I heard him do that riff on 1971's LIVE ALBUM. Even though Mark Farner was not with the band this time around, the band made you forget with the great guitar playing and his vocal replacement from 38 Special. I highly recommend any Grand Funk Railroad fans to catch this group whle you still can. If they come to my area again I will definitely be there to watch and hear them. They are a band you must hear LIVE!
The band retains it's status as "The American Band"! This concert was even better than the last one I saw, in the 1970's. The music and vocals were fantastic. The lead singer's voice has only improved with age, as well as his energy. The drummer......one of the best in rock 'n' roll! This show was worth every penny.
Grand Funk was absolutely wonderful. They actually sound like they did in the 70's and put on a show to rival young bands. Stellar work Grand Funk.
