by Anonymous on 10/19/09Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyGrand Funk Railroad had the event center rocking out! Felder was a joke. Instruments were so loud. Probably to drown out his awful vocals. The only time the music was enjoyable was when the rest of the band sang with him. They were far superior vocalists.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Amazing performance
by Lovelake on 10/18/09Grand Casino - HinkleyTook Two sons, one a drummer not realizing what they were going to see and hear. One son whom is a drummer was floored by the performance. The drummer of Grand Funk blew him away. To me, they did a great performance, sounded great, got audience involved, very well done. Wish they would play more often. We all danced and had fun, Thank you to Grand Funk Railroad for keeping rock n roll alive.

by waldos on 10/17/09Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - Hinckleyfor a shortened version of GFRs normal set, this was another amazing show. we see about 2 GFR shows a year. the acoustic mix was very good. we expected a more acoustic set from Don Felder, but it was a very rocking show. it was very energetic but the mix was off at times.

by gfrgatorgirl2 on 7/23/09Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraIt's Grand Funk Railroad's 40th Anniversary this year and its this simple....Don and Mel STILL ROCK! They have a little help from Max Carl, Bruce Kulick, and Tim Cashion....a blend of musicians that make it sound better than the original band. Don's drum solo, Mel's thunderous bass, Bruce's Star Spangled Banner, Max's Second Chance, and Tim's tickling the ivories make this band simply "Some Kind of Wonderful"!!!!! "We're An American Band" fits these guys to a T! We fans are blessed to have them still doing 40 shows plus a year...if you get the chance, GO see them...good clean, family, entertainment and the show ROCKS!

by agapesport on 7/20/09The Meadows at Prairie Meadows - AltoonaGFR brought their funk and swagger to Des Moines, Iowa for a truly nostalgic ride this summer. Their talent, cohesiveness, and enthusiasm rocked the rafters. Don Brewer's and Mel Schacher's original GFR sound came through loud and clear, bringing us baby boomers to our feet song after song. Though visions of Mark Farner faded quickly, Max Carl performed admirably and energetically as lead singer. And what can you say about guitarist Bruce Kulich....except that he his simply one of the best! Thanks, Grand Funk!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Grandfunk Railroad has still got it!!!
by Cargo on 7/18/09Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraSeeing GrandFunk Railroad at the Belterra was a great experience! Mark Farner has still got it!!! They sounded just as good as they did back in the 70's!! We will definately be watching for them to come back. Can't wait!!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Well worth the wait!
by guardman305 on 7/17/09The Meadows at Prairie Meadows - AltoonaAs a youngster back in the early 70s Grand Funk Railroad was my favorite band. The band was in concert at Vets auditorium. I wanted to go bad but my father said no! I was just to young. Well it took 35 years but I finally did get to see the band at the Meadows in Altoona Iowa. It was like going back in a Time machine (like that reference) The band played all the hits I remembered. The highlight for me was a great rendition of Inside Looking Out. Don Brewer's drum solo was also amazing. Viewing the show from the front row was about as good as it gets. It was an unforgetable night for this old rock and roller.

by Rickeguitar on 7/17/09Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraI would give this 5 stars, but I can't call it amazing. (which is the criteria for 5 stars). I haven't been to an "amazing concert since Pink Floyd "Animals". However, I go to lots of concerts, and I will call it "Great". I saw Grand Funk several times back in the day. I've been waiting a long time to see "I'm Your Captain". ("Closer To Home Album"), and it was all that I could have hoped for. It nearly brought tears to my eyes. The only original member was the drummer ( I think). But the addition of Max (last name ?) formerly of 38 Special made it truly a great show. And, I think everyone there would agree with me. Also, Belterra Showroom is becoming one of my favorite venues. Peace,God bless you, and "Keep On Rockin' In The Free World !
