About

Goo Goo Dolls, a band that rose from the punk scene in Buffalo, New York, penned several of the most definitive hits of the ’90s. Forming in 1985, the Goo Goo Dolls experimented with hard rock before landing on a winning formula that incorporated elements of acoustic and alternative rock for 1995’s A Boy Named Goo. The album yielded the band’s first Billboard 200 chart placement at No. 27 and its unlikely third single “Name” climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1998, the band vaulted to global ubiquity with “Iris,” a ballad written for the City of Angels soundtrack that later ushered in their quintuple-platinum sixth album Dizzy up the Girl. The song remained atop the former Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart for 18 weeks, a record that stood until 2020. The Goo Goo Dolls solidified their stratospheric success with the equally catchy follow-up single “Slide,” which hit No. 8 on the Hot 100 and was certified platinum itself. In 2002, Gutterflower earned the band their highest Billboard 200 peak at No. 4, while 2006’s Let Love In added more catalog highlights like “Better Days'' and a cover of Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit.” Founding members Johnny Rzeznik and Robby Takac have toured extensively across the 2010s while maintaining a steady output of new projects, including 2019’s Miracle Pill and 2022’s self-produced Chaos in Bloom.

As always, a stellar performance. The Goo Goo Dolls never disappoint, thus the reason I go to so many of their shows! A new record will be coming out very soon, and a new tour, I am sure, will follow.....Go check them out when they are in a town near you!

    Goo Goo Dolls at Horseshoe

by 1morebeer on 7/21/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Good show at the beginning but got better and better as it got dark. As the weather cooled the music heated up. Only problem was they were too exciting for the adult-only audience. Lowering the age limit to 18 would have definitely increased the excitement of the crowd for the band to feed off. Lucky for me, my two kids were old enough to get in and young enough to be big fans so I had a great time.

I drove 15 hours to see the Goo Goo Dolls in IL and IN and it was SO worth it! I would be happy if they played for 30 minutes! I also think that I had the best two nights of my life because of these guys :) .. AWESOME in concert! I will definitely be traveling around to see more of them when then go back on tour!

Goo Goo Dolls were good but concert was too short

by MacDaddylicious on 7/14/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

I thought the Goo Goo Dolls sounded great and played most of their best songs but the show only lasted about an hour and 15 minutes. I guess for the gamblers who were comped tickets or for those who got to take advantage of the last minute 2 for 1 tickets, the show was a pretty good deal. But for those of us who bought tickets early and paid full price, I didn't think we got our money's worth.

    Awesome concert

by WRGOOFAN on 7/14/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Venue had a great setup and GGD played a fantastic set. Alot of energy and good mix of songs. With the amount of hits they have, it was easy to sing along. Only negative comment would be that the concert was too short. We could have listened to at least another 15 or 20 minutes of music. Overall though, I would recommend the venue and watching the band again and again. We drove about 4 hours to get there and were not disappointed.

    Goo Goo Dolls were ok

by AmiJ on 7/14/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

He messed up on 2 or 3 songs. They came out 20-25 minutes late. They only played an hour and 15 minutes. It just wasn't one of their better shows.

the goo goo dolls were excellent!

by gookitten on 7/13/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

i prefer small venues. it was well organized. no hassles.our seats were 2nd row ,center stage what could be better! the sound was great and we were surrounded by all goo fans! they made it a "BIG ROCK SHOW" as ROBBY would say! JOHN RZEZNICK IS A MASTERPIECE! the band is great and put on a good show. ROBBY has such a great personality on stage. its entertaining. he is a wild man! the only bad thing was a rude roadie{ or so he claimed} that was in the hall lobby area ,holding court that he was with the goo goo dolls. he was really impressed with himself. he thought while everyone was trying to be friendly and happy to see the goos for the first time , he thinks everyone is a stalker because they had goo gear on. never the less some of the rest of us have college educations and hold jobs in high level professions. he was the one hanging around with the stalker from sweden that came to the u.s. to southern indiana to see the goos. i hope some one from the band reads this. i plan to post this elsewere as well. the roadies need to stay in their rooms or not talk to anyone announcing that they are with the band . or be nice to the devoted goo fans!

    GooGoo Dolls was HOT

by MaleCall on 7/12/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

The concert was great. John sounded great....he was having trouble with his guitars but no biggie. It was very humid which makes it very HOT. Robbie looked like someone dropped a bucket of water of his head (he was sweating so bad). They played for an hour and ten mins which I wish was longer but the heat could have something to do with it. All around it was a great concert!

    WOOT!

by ZeeTee2 on 7/12/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

I have never been so close to the stage in my life. It was a small venue so not a million people and it was the best concert I've ever been to. Maybe a bit exaggerated as they are my favorite band, but I would go again a hundred times for the proximity and the price. You just can't beat it! I would have liked it to be a little longer,....but it ran about an hour and fifteen minutes.

    Excellent performance, crappy crowd

by kai19 on 7/11/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

The Goo Goo Dolls were undeniably awesome in their performance. They switched things up by talking to the crowd and shouting when they would mess up by accident (they also used different guitars nearly every song, which was sweet!) The crowd, however, seemed to be only there for their greatest hits, and were not at all a true fan base, which made the concert lacking a bit when the band would perform other songs and people would sit down! (Great for me, since I'm short, because I stood the whole time and could see everything great, but it lost energy because of it.)

    Johnny was drunk!

by cubbies on 7/11/09Horseshoe Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Obviously, we are seeing the demise of a rock star and band. He should respect his fans who paid a good deal of money by staying sober and remembering the words to HIS songs.
