About

Goo Goo Dolls, a band that rose from the punk scene in Buffalo, New York, penned several of the most definitive hits of the ’90s. Forming in 1985, the Goo Goo Dolls experimented with hard rock before landing on a winning formula that incorporated elements of acoustic and alternative rock for 1995’s A Boy Named Goo. The album yielded the band’s first Billboard 200 chart placement at No. 27 and its unlikely third single “Name” climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1998, the band vaulted to global ubiquity with “Iris,” a ballad written for the City of Angels soundtrack that later ushered in their quintuple-platinum sixth album Dizzy up the Girl. The song remained atop the former Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart for 18 weeks, a record that stood until 2020. The Goo Goo Dolls solidified their stratospheric success with the equally catchy follow-up single “Slide,” which hit No. 8 on the Hot 100 and was certified platinum itself. In 2002, Gutterflower earned the band their highest Billboard 200 peak at No. 4, while 2006’s Let Love In added more catalog highlights like “Better Days'' and a cover of Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit.” Founding members Johnny Rzeznik and Robby Takac have toured extensively across the 2010s while maintaining a steady output of new projects, including 2019’s Miracle Pill and 2022’s self-produced Chaos in Bloom.

    Goo Goo Dolls - so~so

by Lasoray on 4/15/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

My husband and 2 kids wanted to see the Goo Goo Dolls when they heard they were playing locally at a small venue. I tagged along somewhat reluctantly since I'm not such a big fan, (and Glee started that night!) and being what I consider a pretty avid concert goer, I like to choose my concerts because I really like a band, not so much going on a whim. The vibe from the beginning was the Johnny had a bee in his bonnet. Seemed pissed off at something and this continued for at least the first five songs. He'd finish a song, very quickly swap out a guitar, sing, swap out, sing, open a water bottle and throw the lid like a pissed off child. No warmth, no hello, no how ya doing. He later explained he had his 'man period' which as a woman, I say suck it up, it's no excuse you are here to entertain me. However, maybe he realized the audience was feeling his vibe & got over his mood swing & softened up a bit. Overall they sounded really good and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of hits they have. The band was tight and vocals were great. Even the new stuff they played makes me think we'd give the new CD a shot.

    GooGooDolls were great

by mojokulu on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

Rocket Summer was good. But the Goo Goo Dolls were great and sounded as good as they did in 2002 when I seen them at the star pavillion in Hershey. And after waiting 8 years to see these guys again was worth the wait and can't wait to see them again hopefully again in Hershey.

They sounded better than ever and the new songs were great. Can't wait till it comes out. Seats were great and Johnny was hotter than five fires. Just wish he would have taken off the jacket. That would have been nice!!! Wish I could see them again soon.

    The Goos Rocked Hershey Theater

by Gutterflowerwlw on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

I have been a Goo Goo Dolls fan for about 12 years now & they are always amazing live. I think they are one of the best acts around today & they don't have to rely on special effects or lighting because they have talent. The Goos are touring to support their upcoming cd "Something for the Rest of Us" which will be coming out soon & this was their chance to showcase some of their new tunes. They burst onto the stage with a new song called "The Sweetest Lie" & they mixed in all of their hits including "Slide", "Name", and of course, "Iris". The Goos played for about 2 hours & only stopped between songs for Johnny to chat with the audience a little. This was an awesome show & I can't wait for them to come back around again. If anyone wants to enjoy a fun evening filled with good music, they need to see the Goo Goo Dolls in their town!

    The cynicism was apparent

by ZanStacks on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

Absolutely LOVE the music. The music was flawless, the sound and lights awesome! The show was kind of dead, however. The band looked bored to be there and the lead singer even commented that he was having a "cynical" day. It was a good venue for such a performance. We just sat and listened. The new songs sound awesome- I'll be buying the CDs. Not sure if I'll see them live again.....

    Great show! Small venue!

by RailroadGuy on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

Excellent place to see a show. Small, cozy, and intimate makes sure that no seat in the house is a bad one. GGD did a great job, considering their age. They haven't lost their voice or talent for getting the crowd into it.

rocket summer and goo goo dolls rocked the stage!

by SchmeireSchmeirePuppenFan on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

What an amazing concert! From the moment I walked into the doors I was pleased. We had great seats and the staff was very friendly and helpful. As for the show The Rocket Summer was by far the best cover band we had ever seen. The Goo Goo Dolls were wonderful! He kept the whole room laughing with his stories. By far the best concert I have ever been to.

Goo Goo Dolls are improving with age

    by Jbox20 on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

This was my 3rd or 4th GGD show. They've always been one of my favorite bands but unfortunately in the past, I wasn't that impressed with their live performances. However, this concert was infinitely better... SO GOOD! Johnny really gets the crowd involved and interacts with everyone: telling stories, encouraging clapping, etc. There was a bit of poor soundman work (the one mic wasn't up loud enough and for several songs there was lots of feedback) but I can't blame that on the GGD. Overall, a great performance and I will definitely see them again.

Goo Goo Dolls Front Man Fantastic!!!!!!!!!

by AngelLatte on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

I saw the Goo Goo Dolls for the first time last night at the Hershey Theatre for an intimate performance of a range of songs from the hits to new material for an upcoming album. I was blown away with how good they sounded and how incredible the vocals were from Rzeznik. I'm glad my first experience with them was at a smaller venue like this so I could appreciate how incredible they are together and marvel at their lyrical and musical talents. I look forward to the new album!!!

    Goos were incredible

by DarkStarPicklejuice on 4/14/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

The entire show was amazing - there wasn't much of a set - but they didn't need one - they did all their great songs - some off the new album and some retro Goo music... even Takac sang like in the old days. The personality of Johnny being able to laugh at himself and talk to the crowd in a down to Earth manner made the show even more incredible. You felt like they were just chillin with you and playin music...Want to go back in time and do it again. LOVED THEM.....
