About

GLASS TIGER IN CONCERT:

Canadian rockers Glass Tiger are a fierce five-piece band that's been hammering out the hits since 1986, and they sound as fresh as ever nearly 30 years later. Lead singer Alan Frew still knows how to command the stage with his sharp, impeccable vocals and rich guitar strumming while his bandmates shred out solos on hits like "Someday" and "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)". With their popular alt-rock tunes and on-point musicianship, Glass Tiger always brings the house down when they perform for eager ticket buyers on their can't-miss tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The members of Glass Tiger – singer Alan Frew,  keyboard player Sam Reid, guitarist Al Connelly, bassist Wayne Parker, and drummer Michael Hanson – first got together in 1983 and performed under the name Tokyo. They earned their big break a year later playing for sold-out crowds as an opening act for Boy George and Culture Club on tour. They attracted attention from several labels at the shows, eventually signing to Capitol Records and changing their name to the current moniker. They earned widespread acclaim with their four-times platinum-selling debut Thin Red Line, which featured the smash hit "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" – a song that peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian Songs chart, earned the band three Juno Awards, and launched them to international stardom. Glass Tiger continued to enjoy success with their follow-up releases Diamond Sun (1988) and Simple Mission (1991), which they supported with extensive touring throughout their native Canada. After a hiatus that saw the band's members pursue various other projects, the group got back together in 2003 to perform local shows. Although the band has had a lineup change since reforming with new drummer Chris McNeill, Glass Tiger still knows how to rock a crowd and deliver a hit-filled live show.

My first concert of these guys, loved it and wished I had seen them in the 80s. My wife was beside herself.

Loved every minute of their performance! 37ish years later I’m still star struck! Opening Act was a bit too long!

The show was great, too bad the crowd didn’t have the energy we used to have back in the 1980’s 😅. Just one other comment , regarding the opening show, although E. M. had a nice career …. We came to see music 🎶 ✌️ Thank you for these amazing memories!!

  • It was such a blast from the past!!!!

by Nikeegyal on 12/8/24Living Arts Centre Auditorium - MississaugaRating: 5 out of 5

Glass Tiger was one of the first concerts that my childhood best friend and I went to see. 41 years of friendship and we always pick up where we left off. Naturally, we decided to relive our childhood. The concert was AMAZING. Alan Frew had a phenomenal voice and we loved the intimacy of the venue. Erica Ehm was a great opening and we loved her energy. She has not aged and her unique voice threw us back to our childhood. The Living Arts Centre staff are friendly and helpful...and free parking was an added bonus. Overall it was a great night and allowed us to create another memory!

  • Too loud!

by Young at heart! on 4/30/24Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 3 out of 5

The opening act, "The Kings", was not very good. They were just a lot of noise! The songs were not memorable nor easy to hear. The general audience reaction was very low and the act went on for too long. Glass Tiger was great! Wish we could have stayed to the end but had to leave for our ride home.

This concert brought me back to my 13 year old self! So much fun 38 years later. Alan Frew sounded amazing.

  • Short and sweet

by RogerRamjet on 4/30/24Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

Glass Tiger was great but show was too short - only 1 hour 15 min or 80 min which included a 5 min break. I have been to many concerts(11-12) in past year and this one was by far the shortest. It was also the cheapest. I don’t want to take away from The great musicians of the band and the great singing and conversation by Alan Frew but why not give the fans another 15-20 min at least to make them feeling like they had a complete evening of good entertainment. I am sure the band was enjoying the feedback and could play a little longer and more of their hits. I drove 2 hours to see an hour and 15 min show

Still belting out the hits and they added in a couple of holiday songs of their own. Such a positive message and I was able to reminisce about the "good ole days"

Last minute ticket purchase and I'm so glad I did it. Lead singer (and 1 of the original 3 members still with the band) was so engaging with wonderful stories and appreciation for the audience. He had the entire crowd participating in sing-alongs. I have been to numerous concerts in my life and I have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable. Thank you Glass Tiger!
