About

GLASS TIGER IN CONCERT:

Canadian rockers Glass Tiger are a fierce five-piece band that's been hammering out the hits since 1986, and they sound as fresh as ever nearly 30 years later. Lead singer Alan Frew still knows how to command the stage with his sharp, impeccable vocals and rich guitar strumming while his bandmates shred out solos on hits like "Someday" and "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)". With their popular alt-rock tunes and on-point musicianship, Glass Tiger always brings the house down when they perform for eager ticket buyers on their can't-miss tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The members of Glass Tiger – singer Alan Frew,  keyboard player Sam Reid, guitarist Al Connelly, bassist Wayne Parker, and drummer Michael Hanson – first got together in 1983 and performed under the name Tokyo. They earned their big break a year later playing for sold-out crowds as an opening act for Boy George and Culture Club on tour. They attracted attention from several labels at the shows, eventually signing to Capitol Records and changing their name to the current moniker. They earned widespread acclaim with their four-times platinum-selling debut Thin Red Line, which featured the smash hit "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" – a song that peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian Songs chart, earned the band three Juno Awards, and launched them to international stardom. Glass Tiger continued to enjoy success with their follow-up releases Diamond Sun (1988) and Simple Mission (1991), which they supported with extensive touring throughout their native Canada. After a hiatus that saw the band's members pursue various other projects, the group got back together in 2003 to perform local shows. Although the band has had a lineup change since reforming with new drummer Chris McNeill, Glass Tiger still knows how to rock a crowd and deliver a hit-filled live show.

  • Not what I thought

This was in no way the show I thought I had paid for. Instead in was a very laid back show. Wish I would have known this ahead of time. However, TM did not say anything. Poor advertising in my opinion. I WAY over paid for what it was. That being said I am happy I saw them all the same. Just wish I was happier.

I have not seen both groups in many years and thought they were awesome!!! I liked that the venue was just the right size and would love to see them again if they came back to the Seneca Niagara Casino.

  • Bands were fantastic--venue dreadful!

Platinum Blonde was GREAT! They sound as great as ever and they had a lot of fun on stage. They came out afterwards and hung w/the fans which is so cool. Glass Tiger is just so incredible! They sound perfect, sing EVERYTHING you would want to hear and they have a BLAST on stage which is infectious! My sister and I had such a great time. That being said, seeing a show at the Seneca Niagara Events Center is something I am in no hurry to do again. The room where the concert was held was fine, sound was great and you can see from anywhere, so there were no issues there. The problem is, because it is a casino, you are allowed to smoke indoors. If you want to have a drink before the show or in between bands, be prepared to be covered in second hand smoke. It was absolutely dreadful. And there was no where to go to escape. I left there with such a headache and came close to just throwing away every piece of clothing I was wearing that night! It was indescribable nastiness.

Every time I see this band, I am reduced to a screaming teenager! Alan, entertaining as always and you killed the Johnny Reid! That was great to see. Chris, Sam,Wayne, the whole band was tight! Great venue for this show.

Glass Tiger was great -- as always! We were a little disappointed at the short length of their performance. Other than that, I'd give their part of the show 5+ stars! I am thrilled that we were able to coordinate our vacation plans and attend the concert (it is a 14 hr drive from home, but only 1 hr from where we were planning to visit). We were very disappointed with April Wine, and actually ended up leaving early. The mixing was just not right, and it seemed like they were struggling to keep the act together. I was getting a headache from the sharpness of the drums (I think that was the issue). They didn't seem to play to the venue size -- it was a smallish theatre rather than a huge stadium. I'd only rate them at a 2.5-3 stars, tops.
