Girl Talk on Tour

Girl Talk (aka Pittsburgh's Gregg Gillis) has been constructing meticulous sample-based music since 2000. His early work was known for its raw experimental nature, but by the release of his 2006 album, Night Ripper, that style evolved into genre-smashing, breakneck-paced party jams. Night Ripper consisted of over 300 songs, from wildly disparate Top 40 genres and eras, mashed up and layered together into one cohesive collage. It received critical acclaim, and the attention resulted in a rapidly growing fan base. Gillis ended up quitting his biomedical engineering day job one year later.

Girl Talk continued to develop his signature style with the release of Feed the Animals in 2008 and All Day in 2010. Each album grew increasingly detailed and complex. He steadily toured over the following years, bringing his renowned confetti-covered and sweat-soaked performances to venues ranging from house party basements to major festivals. By 2014, Gillis began focusing on collaborative work producing hip hop for some of his favorite rap artists. That same year, he released "Broken Ankles," an EP with Freeway. Since "Broken Ankles", Gillis has steadily earned an impressive list of production credits and collaborations with his artistic contemporaries including, but not limited to, Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain, Tory Lanez, Young Nudy, Bas, Cozz, Erick The Architect (from Flatbush Zombies), Smoke DZA, and Don Q. Over the course of his career, Girl Talk has packed venues such as Buckhead Theatre (Atlanta), Stage AE (Pittsburgh), and Saint Andrews Hall (Detroit) to capacity.

    Girltalk rocks!

by Drazil on 11/3/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

Girl Talk was amazing - had never seen him live. He brings such amazing energy, as well as humor, to his performance. A smaller venue might be more suited to his show - I sat in the balcony which was very empty compared the floor. I only saw one song of Senior Discount - I wasn't impressed at all.

    Fun... If You're 18...

by Over21 on 11/3/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

Girl talk was an interesting concert. My friend and I went because we had heard that it was a good, entertaining concert. Needless to say, we were surprised when we got there that it was primarily an under 21 audience. He starts the show by projecting words and phrases on the screen and doesn't actually make an appearance until 45 minutes after the opening act. After waiting an impossibly long time for him to show his face for the first time, I wasn't exactly amused when the words on the screen read "fuck you all". The show itself consisted of teenagers jumping around on stage while Girltalk hunched over his computer. Oh... and there was toilet paper being blown around... everywhere. Review in summary: great beats, talented guy, but the concert itself was more like an under 21 club .

by Animegray on 11/3/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

This is the first concert I've ever gone to and I must say it couldn't have been a better first concert experience. I would definitely tell anyone who asked that if they want to have a concert experience that's also like a massive dance party then girl talk is definitely the way to go! It was amazing!

GirlTalk was incredible, obviously. Senior Discount however was distasteful, horrific in fact.

    Girl Talk was SICK.

by Galexandra on 11/3/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

Seriously amazing, dude. It was a freaking Monday in thirty degree weather and I had a paper and problem sets to do when I got back, but by the end of that show, it felt like it was summer in Cancun. The crowd was wild, the show was epic, and the H.O.B. was a great venue. God, I highly recommend this show - it really is your best clubbing experience on crack.

Girltalk throws a pretty good party!

by FartSniffington on 9/23/09Showbox at the Market - Seattle

The showbox theater in Seattle may have some structural problems after greg gillis blew the roof off the join on monday the 21st. Junk Culture threw down a pretty amazing set with his absurdly talented drummer to warm up a sold out crowd. Everyone was well prepared for Girltalk to blow out the speakers with his ridiculous mashups and pounding bass. Well done to both acts and to the throng of people who spent the entirety of GT's set onstage dancing.

    GIrl Talk rocked it

by VickiBobby on 9/23/09Showbox SoDo - Seattle

Such a high energy show! He is such a humble entertainer and I would go see him again in a second. He kept the crowd involved and you could tell he was having just as good of a time as anyone else at the show.
