    Disappointing

by I love theatre on 10/14/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Although the acting was solid, this show was disappointing. The story was depressing making it hard to enjoy. As with most musicals I was expecting something more uplifting and fun. I was surprised with the choice of Dylan song as most were obscure and unfamiliar, however the vocals were solid.

    Do not waste your time

by RevSus on 10/14/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The singing was terrific. The rest of the show was disjointed, had no plot, and the story did not capture interest. It is as if they tried to hit all the issues in our society, without ever really addressing them. Save yourself the time and see something else.

    Nothing Original

by PW on 10/14/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

My group was disappointed and frankly a bit bored through the mundane script that lacked originality and depth. The actors did their best and had great singing voices, but even the rendition of Bob Dylan songs lacked luster. In fact, we saw a local community theater performance this summer of a play with the same theme of human lives and interaction in a single home. That play was more interesting with better scripting. I wish that I had a better review. Disappointed.

    Deeply Soulful

by Jaxtoon on 10/13/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Girl from the North Country is a deeply soulful experience. It brought a whole new dimension to Bob Dylan’s music. While the setting is not uplifting—it takes place during the Great Depression—the music is, providing a gospel, redemptive tone to the sufferings of those entering the Duluth boarding house. From Slow Train to I Want You to Make You Feel My Love to Sweetheart Like You, the music was uplifting and revealing. I love how the actors incorporate Like a Rolling Stone and Hurricane. Special moments included Duquesne Whistle and True Love Tends to Forget (so true). High entertainment with deep soul. The acting is terrific and the actors voices rise to the heavens. Go and embrace how life feels when, no matter the situation, the music carries us through.

    Memorable night at the Orpheum

by Terrie on 10/13/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Outstanding performances by all the actors and musicians. Bob Dylan’s music and lyrics were reworked into the script in a very unique way to tell this very “Dark” story. As a longtime fan I felt that Dylan’s lyrics held some level of “Hope”- but maybe not. My favorite song and choreography piece was “Like a Rolling Stone”. My favorite character was the wife of the landlord- incredible display of emotions, whit, deep insight into events occurring around her while living with “mental illness” and amazing vocals. Overall a memorable night at the Orpheum! Thanks!

    Girl From the North

by Laurie on 10/13/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Despite the chaos of Ticket Master and not being able to utilize our prepaid parking, the performance was incredible. The cast was tight and on cue, and the story impacting.

    Not a fan.. pretty dark!

by RCarl on 10/11/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

I was surprised by the amount of swearing, and what a”dark” performance this was. I guess this did highlight the realities of WWII. The performance was quite a downer, but the musical talent was amazing!

    Dark Story - good music

by Dark story - good music on 10/11/23Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

This is probably more about my expectations. I was expecting a story more in line with Bob Dylan and the music but it was really more of a story about the early 1900s and more play like than musical. Story was dark but true. I was looking for a more uplifting show but a reflection of the past is always a good reminder. Music and cast talent was incredible.
