The frequent L.A. D.J. (Reece) was outstanding that night at the Teragram Ballroom downtown Los Angeles! He played tons of ABBA and disco hits. I was truly happy with my experience. I got a lot of compliments on my dancing abilities too and the way I could lypsinc many of the songs being played. I'm looking forward to going to GGD in Orange County tomorrow as well. I'm ready with my ABBA t-shirt and dance shoes ready to hit the floor. If you don't like ABBA, 70's, 80's DISCO music, then you will not enjoy this live music event which travels all over the U.S.A. The Teragram Ballroom was very fun for dancing last Saturday night. This past week really made my birthday week. I'm going next week to San Diego for GGD too.
2nd time at the Gimme Gimme Disco event here in Los Angeles. Always a great, fun, energized, diverse crowd. The DJ is amazing and interactive and the music ... well ... it's ABBA (and some other great classic disco jams).
Awesome night! šŗš½š¤© Perfect music! š¶ Everyone danced and sang at the top of their lungs almost the whole night! No pressure to dress up but lots of people did. So much fun! Would have been nice if the Commodore stayed open past the end of the show (12:30) The early boot was disappointing š„² also songs reepeated near the end which was a bummer but did not take away from the awesomeness of the night!
Such a good vibe, grateful it was 18+ as we had like 12 of us go. security was good and nice, it felt safe. The last song of the set was mid, but bohemian rhapsody popped off and we all loved the night immensely. Though it did shut way too early, at like 12:30 which is poor
Wonderful disco. Brought up lots of good memories from 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Overall, it was a fun experience but my only comment is the DJ, he plays almost the entire song of every song⦠so I can do what the DJ basically does. Simple transitions in music.
Venue wasn't great. The DJs (3) were all dressed in street clothes except the female. Think t-shirt and shorts. The fade into songs wasn't there....it was abrupt and brought down the energy. We left after 45 minutes.
Honestly the DJ was pretty bad. It was basically a Spotify playlist that he just queued songs on. Didnāt even play a lot of the great disco songs. Went to the broadway show the night before with the same DJ and had the same issue.. overall wouldnāt pay to do it again, not worth it. To Delmar Hall: find a better DJ
Went for a bachelorette party and Super fun and donāt disappoint. Had great 70s themed music and was a blast
every other song was ABBA, and he threw Queen into the mix? What about Blondie, Barry White, more Bee Gees (the kings of disco!), Olivia Newton John? Have some more variety instead of the best of ABBA for almost 2 hours.
Bohemian Rhapsody and Lizzo are not disco. There were maybe two disco tracks all night, one of which was the ever overplayed "Working at the Carwash."The DJ wouldn't stop talking through the set so you had to listen to her scream at the crowd all night. More than once she mixed a slow track in just as the crowd started to really get moving. Worst dance party I've been to. Venue and sound was fine.
The DJ was phenomenal. Played so many disco songs that I knew from Abba to Donna Summer to Queen to Michael Jackson to Boney M, etc. Felt like every song I knew. Love the venue. Brooklyn Bowl has such a large dance area on the second floor that there was always room to dance. And they had a water cooler to keep hydrated. There's literally nothing to complain about from that night...NOTHING!! Hope they do more of these discos!!!
This particular dj (Costa Mesa, CA) was cutting too much in the beginning of the ABBA tracks. That was a big no-no for me. Also, the wooden floor was RIDICULOUSLY beyond sticky! It was very difficult to dance or even move on the regular floor where we stood. The stage wasn't much better. I don't mind when GGD is held in Costa Mesa, but please make sure the DJ doesn't cut the ABBA songs short too quickly. I really normally enjoy the Gimme Gimme Disco venues, but this one was a bigger disappointment to me.
So much fun ! Great music and even better vibes ! The balloons were a great addition too
If i could give this event negative stars I would. I am 28 years old and my best friend and I were kicked out of the 930 club for buying a beer because the staff knew we had a drink before arriving. The 930 club sucks and you should go to the Gimme Gimme Disco if it is literally anywhere besides the 930 club.
Played a lot of hits and it was nonstop disco. had a great time!
Gimme Gimmie Disco is one of the best ways to spend a night out! Itās so much fun! The music is great and the energy is everything wonderful!
The DJ was ok. He didnāt mix the music at all. He did play a high variety . He played mostly Abba. The crowed was well behaved and the staff were great. The energy on the dance floor was lacking a bit of a turn up. Loves the balloons tossing into the crowd. Overall it was ok. I wonāt return. Iām a local.
We had a great time at the Hampton Beach Ballroom NH. My husband and I have been to a couple of other of your events. We noticed songs we didnāt recognize this time and found out they were songs from the 90s! Thatās not disco music! We were a little disappointed with that. No Gloria Gaynor music was played and that is disco music. Our last event was in Nashua NH and that DJ was just awesome! He played so many great songs! We will go again but just thought this should be brought to someoneās attention.
