  • Dancing Queen

by CL on 6/29/22Music Farm - CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

The show was sold out and it felt like there were too many people, could hardly move around anywhere on the dance floor. Felt like the show was oversold. Didn’t feel like a real disco as everyone was staring at the screen up front and shouting at the DJ and not looking at each other and not really dancing. Additionally, it was way too heavy on ABBA and not enough other classic disco songs. The amount of drunk college kids was staggering. Not many places to go dancing and Charleston, definitely some areas for improvement, but was better than any other experience I could’ve had in this area.

  • Best 80s Groovy Party

by BaileyGotBack on 6/27/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

My friends and I had so much fun at the House of Blues, at the Gimme Gimme Disco party! Everyone was dressed groovy, service at the bars were timely, and it was just spacious enough where I didn’t feel crowded, but it was definitely a full house! Music was phenomenal- a healthy mix of actual 70s/80s and some new house/pop tunes thrown in as well! Great vibes, great time! 10/10 would recommend to others!

  • Very fun but…

by Manda Bat on 6/27/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

A great idea for a night out. I do wish the event was more decorated for the era. Didn’t see one disco ball lol. The DJ needs a more polished set. They ‘train wrecked’ a bunch. All great music! Just no fading or transitions between songs. Apart from the minimal improvements, it’s a great event. The mix of age groups enjoying the music and letting lose was amazing. Please put on more events like this! The staff were all amazing too. Very helpful and friendly.

  • Disappointing

by L on 6/27/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 1 out of 5

Nothing exciting. Not much Abba was played. Crowd control sucked. Anyone in the audience probably could have done better

  • not what I expected

by unknown on 6/27/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 1 out of 5

I feel like the videos to promote this event were really cool but the actual experience was just everyone squishing and dancing on top of each other and pushing each other. The dj was late like 30 minutes and it wasn’t fun honestly

  • Amazing

by Ryan on 6/21/22Summit - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Gimme Gimme is always a blast at The Summit. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes Mamma Mia or 70s/80s music!

  • Danced the night away

by Jo on 6/21/22Summit - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

What a wonderful night to connect with the music my mom used to play for me. If you love grooving to the classics this is a show you won’t want to miss!

  • It was fun but not as Disco as you would think

by CC on 6/21/22Summit - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

Overall, I had a good time at this event. However, I was disappointed some of the music choices. This is heavily advertised as an ABBA/Disco event. But the music strayed quite far from disco, with Sweet Caroline and other random songs thrown in there. Also, I thought there would be a lot more ABBA music as they probably played about 5 ABBA songs in total.

  • good music

by chris on 6/17/22Echoplex - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

great music but they played the same songs at the last gimme gimme disco. still pretty fun.

  • Great party, horrible DJ

by Bop on 6/14/22Echoplex - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

What a fun night. But seriously-what was up with the DJ? Was he just wasted? He messed up every. single. transition. He almost played Dancing Queen again like one song after he’d just played it. Not that I would complain, but that was stopped abruptly and switched to something else. Then he’s like oh I’m here from BROOKLYN?? You couldn’t find a better DJ that can at least mix a song in BROOKLYN? Or even in LA? This night should be so easy to DJ, it’s disco so it’s not like you have to think very hard about which songs to play. The continued “are you still with me LA” after every song was so cringe, like bro are YOU still with US?

  • Best One Yet

by Daisy on 6/12/22Big Night Live - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Our third time going to this event and it gets better every time we go. The host/DJ combo brought it with a fun Pride flair. If you like mainstream disco, this event is a must go.

  • Utter Failure

    by Antoinette70 on 5/31/229:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

This was a completely USELESS and MISERABLE experience. It was built as a disco dance party, but there was NO DJ and the music that was being played was not only NOT disco, but it could barely be heard. It was purely an evening of people standing around drinking overpriced liquor. I will NEVER return to the 9:30 Club for ANY event, PERIOD. This was an epic FAIL.

  • DJ did not know ABBA

by Dre on 5/31/229:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

We have been to this event 2 times, once May 2022 and once November 2021. In November the DJ you could tell knew abba and the vibes were amazing plus he played al the right songs and was on theme with disco. The one this past weekend in May was awful, the DJ was playing Toto and journey which are NOT disco, he played some ABBA song but missed some of the iconic ones like mama Mia.

  • Didn’t even see the show

by Lady on 5/31/229:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

The DJ was late unfortunately so we didn’t even see the show. Heard from a friend that it started at 10:50 (tickets said 9), but could not stay that late with no updates until 10:25.

  • “Okay”

by Sara on 5/31/22Varsity Theater - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

Wish they had more entertainment besides just one DJ!

  • Fun experience—questionable music/DJing

by Elizabeth on 5/30/22The Masquerade - Hell - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Although it was a fun night, I just really wished there was more authentic disco. I think it was due to requests to bled into some rock music. There was even a Madonna song. It sounds nitpicky, but I was just hoping for great disco music since I love the genre. The music selection was more like some disco and older songs there were popular on TikTok than anything. Also, the switch between songs was harsh.

  • DJ Late but good show if u have a sense of humor

    by Z. H. on 5/29/22Rating: 4 out of 5

DJ apparently had travel issues and showed up at 10:40 (show started at 9). Some of the songs were eh but honestly the whole show was still a fun time as long as you didn’t take it too seriously. Went with my best friend and we had a blast

  • Bad DJ

by Chela on 5/17/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 1 out of 5

The Dj was really bad. How transitions were off and he failed to keep the crowd engaged. He would play songs for the the entirety of their length rather than overlapping them like a normal club/disco would.

  • Amazing show!!! Spectacular vibe and so much fun!

by Jonatan on 5/16/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Great show to enjoy from beginning to end!! The energy was so good and perfect music selection. People were very into it and the whole mood was incredible!

  • A dance party…and that’s about it

by SDGal on 5/16/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

Experience was OK but we were expecting more of a show and additional decoration. Instead we got two dudes with a computer standing on a stage. Sure, the music was 70s with some ABBA thrown in, but it felt like a big house party where everyone dresses up. They were even taking requests. Save your money and throw your own party at home.
