Was super fun but very disappointed the DJ started an hour later. If he’s going to do that let us know so we don’t come at the right time and waste our time thanks
Overall a good time but I expected an ABBA themed disco to include more ABBA and was disappointed when only about 6 ABBA songs were actually played. Also the Taylor Swift song being played towards the end really killed the vibe.
We knew the minute we walked in and saw nothing on the stage but a table and a laptop this was going to be bad. The image posted on the web site was a group of four (Abba) and the name Gimme Gimme Disco. One hour after the show was supposed to start, a twenty something comes out in her tank dress (looking nothing like disco or the 70's like nearly everyone in the sold out crowd) and she pushes start on the computer which played some obscure track from the B side of some disco album. We totally expected a cover band, or at least a real DJ. This poor girl would come out from behind the table every few minutes, try to sing along and get the crowd going. What a joke. At least hang a damn disco ball and lead us in the hustle girl! I am mad at the House of Blues for tricking us. We left after three songs and paying $65 for three drinks.
Only 4 ABBA songs were played from 9pm-12am. The DJ had super poor transitions from song to song. It was an “abba disco night” with barely any abba. The event started over an hour late as well
The DJ legit only played 3-4 Abba songs and after 11pm rarely played disco. He was playing Mr. Brightside, Taylor swift, and Queen. He was on stage saying "if you have something you want me to play come up here and I'll play it, I'm for the people" but I shouldn't have to ask you/request to play disco at Gimme Gimme Disco. Honestly I've had college parties DJ'd better than this
It was fun! Super hype DJ, interesting crowd, lot of hits at the start. Turned to modern pop music REAL quick though. Like 2010s random ass pop songs. Maaaaajor vibe killer. Plus there was ZERO space to dance in the venue unless you wanted to hang out in the dark fringes and run into people carrying overpriced drinks. Overall: i had more fun ditching early to go to the bar, but we didnt regret going.
The energy at this event was amazing!!! The DJ was so hyped to be there and the crowd loved the music. Super fun costumes and very interactive. Had issues with one of the bouncers, but that was an issue with the venue, not the event itself.
We'll start off I thought it was going to be singers and I know that it was going to be like a DJ. But overall it was fantastic great songs and that DJ guy was fantastic. If I had to go again I would had a great time wife really enjoyed herself nice seeing people dressed up from the '70s
The entire event was ruined simply because it was so insanely hot in there. They also didn’t really play any abba till the very very end of the night which was a bummer. Wouldn’t attend again. Thought I was going to have a heat stroke
I was not expecting it to be a high school dance party with over priced drinks
What they portrayed on their IG page wasn't how it was in person, The DJ was awkward and had a hard time keeping the crowd pumped. We were expecting some time of performance. But she really just pressed play on her laptop. I think it could've helped if she dressed 70's.
My friends and I had the best time of our lives! The DJ was amazing and kept the energy up the entire time. The venue was perfect for the event
This show was a bust. The dj was drunking straight from a bottle of tequila and couldn’t get through the set. There was absolutely no djing happening, simply a playlist playing. Two people then came our later to finish the set who also didn’t know how to dj and kept ruining the night trying to tell people to dance a certain way. Also if you’re an abba fan, not much Abba being played. Total disappointment. I was so excited to come here. It was a gen z costume party and nothing more.
The DJs were not doing any actual mixing and they kept cutting songs in random places (and got booed for doing it, rightfully so) and the transitions were nonexistent. It also ended very abruptly (it was like 12:45) with no reason or explanation and was overall not worth the money at all. Need much better DJs who, if they’re not going to doing any actual mixing, need to at least read the room and not cut songs off 45 seconds in and will do a full set.
Bad song choice in my opinion. Was expecting more upbeat music. The screen animations were awesome though
I had an absolute blast! I highly suggest going to an event like this with a group of friends! I danced the whole time!
This show was only fun because this music is inherently fun and easy to dance too. Other than that, there wasn’t much to it. The playlist felt like it was straight from Spotify. No transitions or remix’s made it unique. The video that played on loops in the background were random clips from the internet of 70s or 80s movies, the office, and “disco” verbiage but didn’t sync or add anything with the music. Overall needs more production value
The dj kept singing so it kinda ruined the vibe. But over all it was nice. I just didn’t like how he kept talking
They did not even play disco music for the entire first hour and when the DJ did come out he wasn’t really a DJ he just let the playlist play out with no transitions or attempt to gauge the audience.
