    Young Frankenstein -- mildly entertaining

by MAU1208 on 4/3/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

While the production was mildly entertaining, I was disappointed in the quality of the show. The players were definitely new to the professional stage and it felt like one step above local amateur theater -- not what I expect to pay premium prices to see. The voices were good and with experience, the artists will improve. I'm not sorry I went but would not recommend it to others.

    Young Frankenstein is Phenomenal!

by facesunderwater on 4/3/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

This musical is wonderful. The sets are stunning, costumes hilarious, and songs hard to forget. It surprised me by becoming my new favorite musical. Mel Brooks is a comic genius and it really shows in his adaptation of Young Frankenstein. I must admit I find the movie it is based on a little slow at times but this musical version is faced paced, fun, and downright phenominal. Bravo.

It was even better than I imagined it would be. My wife wasn't that familiar with the movie and she loved it.

    EYEgor - What hump?

by bahXhumbug on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

A very commendable adaptation of the movie. It was an enjoyable show, from start to finish. It contains all of the silliness of the movie. Makes me want to watch the movie again. It was interesting to overhear comments by other attendees. Obviously they had never seen the movie.

    It's ALIVE!

by Anonymous on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

As life-long Mel Brooks fans, we were very excited about seeing the musical version of Young Frankenstein. From start to finish the production was wonderful! The actors did not try and imitate the movie characters, but gave them their own interpretation, and each was terrific! The stage production was a little, shall we say, raunchier than the movie version. We took our 14-year old son, and while I may have flinched a bit during some parts (Elizabeth's song at the train station, and the hay ride to the castle), he howled with laughter. It's all in fun, and it's defintely Mel Brooks!

    Wonderful Show

by mandemoms on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

This is one of the best shows/productions I have seen in Atlanta in a long time. The actors were fabulous, the staging was great. It had me laughing and clapping the whole time. No I did not really clap the whole time.

    Great show

by Anonymous on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

If you're a fan of the movie, you'll definitely enjoy this show. The story line is the same, but they've added enough new jokes (or variations on the old ones) to keep it fresh. Puttin' on the Ritz was the highlight of the performance. It's a little racier than the movie, so you might want to think about bringing the kids.

Kept me entertained all the way through!!

by Disenchanting on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I don't go to a lot of musicals. But this Young Frankenstein cast hit the nail on the head. I actually think this musical was better than the movie. A must see. I would go see it again.

    GREAT SHOW!

by JBAT on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

This show was fantastic - there is no other word for it. I was worried that the movie may not translate into a musical - but I had nothing to worry about. This show is my new favorite!

Young Frankenstein captured and exceeded the movie

by Trick87 on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

What a wonderful performance! I was quite skeptical to go into this musical because the movie is a classic. But I was pleasantly and amazingly surprised at how well they captured all the elements of the movie and highlighted the comedic scenes even more. Very well done and it makes me hope they make more musicals off of more Mel Brooks movies.... Blazing Saddles - maybe?

Young Frankenstein was a Monster Hit

by BillandJanice on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Cobb Energy Center is always a great venue, and this show was well matched to the venue. A true Broadway-class production, every moment was first class. The sets, the songs, the singers, and the sexy silliness simply sizzled. You could see Mel Brooks' hand in this production, and the Master still has his touch. My only disappointment was that Atlanta did not pack the house on this Saturday night... where were you all? You missed a hum-dinger of a musical.

    Great Musical Adaptation

by drumman541 on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

If you like the movie, you'll love the musical. Or, if you haven't seen it and just like Mel Brooks' work, in general, you'll love it. If only Brooks would turn all of his movies (Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles, Men in Tights, etc...) into musicals.

    Young Frandenstein - the play

by guidos on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

If you liked the movie, you will love the play. Catchy songs and lyrics. Funny. And the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre is fantastic. No bad seats. Parking adjacent to ticket office. Easy off and on access to intersetate. Made for a totally enjoyable evening.

    Wonderful show!!!

by hobbit57 on 4/2/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I had forgotten how much fun live musical comedy can be when it is done well. And this was done very well!!! I am wondering why I haven't been to the theater is so long. Definitely something I need to correct!! Mel Brooks is still the master comedian and this screenplay is a masterwork. The cast was incredible, the venue is divine was a wonderful way to spend a spring afternoon!

This review should be a 4.5, but that's not an option. I went with 4 just because I reserve the absolute best rating for just that, the absolute best. This was a great show and a great performance, and I would highly recommend this show.
