GARY NUMAN IN CONCERT:
Inimitable new wave necromancer Gary Numan is as celebrated for cult classics like "Down in the Park" as he is for mainstream '80s superhits like "Cars." Masterfully balancing mass appeal and a darker edge, Numan led audiences through the full gamut of emotions at his 2013 shows, shifting from vitriolic sneer to vulnerable yelp and back again as he wended his way through fan favorites like "Complex" and "We Are Glass." Featuring a full band, an army of icy synths, and his signature lighting design, Numan's 2014 tour dates will deliver more of the intense spectacle he's become known for.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
English-born Gary Numan pioneered commercial electronic music in the late '70s and early '80s with his icy, angular, synth-drenched take on pop's new wave. Following a stint fronting epochal electronic rock outfit Tubeway Army, he struck out on his own, landing three consecutive No. 1's on the UK Albums chart between 1979-1980. Numan's fascination with dystopian themes and technology was a through-line in his music, and nowhere was it more apparent than on "Cars," his first international No. 1 and a defining moment in new wave music. A consummate showman made legendary by his spectacularly choreographed live shows, Numan continues to record and tour, hitting the road once again in 2014 in support of his 22nd studio album Splinter (Songs From a Broken Mind).
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Gary is still an amazing performer! His band is so talented and energetic! The show was completely mesmerizing! Well worth the ticket price!"
"Fabulous concert -- by turns edgy and vulnerable, hard driving and lyrical. Gary is a superb performer as one can see just by listening to his many live albums and watching his concert videos"
"If anyone asks you, 'Gary Numan... in 2010?' the answer is YES. Phenomenal show. Pleasure Principle came out in 1979 so you might think this could sound dated but it didn't at all! He's a tremendous performer and the sound was spectacular."

Great show at Ace Of Spades in Sacramento. Gary and the band were outstanding, full of energy (not mailing it in like a few acts from that era) and sounded terrific. Ace Of Spades is a great small venue to see bands too. Great staff and cool atmosphere. One of my all time favorite venues.
I expected it to be good but was left speechless. That show ranks in my top three shows attended ever. I am 58 and have been to many!
First timers, or people that only know "Cars"are always surprised by the show. I watched video of the Brixton Academy show and said, "This is Gary Numan?!". Took my wife to his show at the Mystic Theatre and she became an instant fan. We took our son to the Ace of Spades show and he came away impressed. The stage show is simple but entertaining. Bass and guitar interacting with the audience, but staying in character. The music can get loud and agressive, but it is well choreographed and does go into some quiet moments. The ride goes up and down as it should. I come away from his shows not feeling wiped out, but that I have had an experience. A good vibe.
Gary Numan and his band were in incredible! I'm a big concert goer and probably have 100 shows that I've seen and Gary was top 5 EVER! I expected a great show and it was so much more. The sounds, the songs, the lighting were all perfect. The new songs are some of the best Gary and his band have ever done. Seriously make an effort to see them!
Gary Numan put on an impressive performance. His energy, band, and sound were amazing. I took my 15 year son with me and post show he’s into Gary Numan.
What an outstanding show. Gary and the other members play with so much passion and emotion. So fun to see in person!!
Gary Numan always delivers. Best performer ever!!!!
We were lucky to see this show! Love the whole ensemble! The current work of Gary Newman and his 4 member band is so much better then the "H In M Car" era he's known for. It was a bit mesmerizing.
Gary Numan, being an 80’s era act, I expected 80’s style music. I honestly had not kept up with GN musical direction since the 80’s. The opening band “A place to bury strangers” was an ear damaging noise band that set the mode for the rest of the evening. Many in the audience loved the “music” but I was not a fan, and I don’t plan on catching another show ever again. My fault for not previewing the bands. I will from now on.
How wonderful it is to live in a reality, where Gary Numan exists.
Saw Numan last night in Milwaukee. Listening to recordings does not do this band justice. They are AMAZING live. They rock. So much inspiration to NIN and Filter obviously. Go see them and you will thank me. Skeptical going into it. A new fan coming out of it.
Back up band I Am Machine was unexpected, and really amazing! Gary Neuman is definitely Not a Nostalgia Act. We saw him back in the day in Chicago, his new music is just as cool. Thanks for a great night!
Everyone from security at the door to the bar staff were awesome! High Fives to The Knitting Factory in Spokane…Wow 😁
To keep it very short, simply the best performer I have had the privilege of seeing and meeting. Sublime, extraordinary. If I could replay a day in my life history, it would probably be the one which took me to Spokane.
Great show! Two plus hours of Gary Numan. Amazing energy!
From the 1st beat to the last, Gary Numan rocked out! Was probably one of the best live performances we've seen in a long time! I would see him again in a heartbeat.
My gosh this show was amazing. He sounded great and was quite spellbinding. The band was fabulous.
The Knitting Factory in Spokane is a smaller venue and has a smaller crowd. I worried that might detour Numan from putting on his best showing. I was wrong. I Speak Machine was opening act and did amazing. Her cover of Concrete Blonde's "Bloodletting" to close her set was better than Blonde"s version when I saw them. The crowd was into all of I Speak Machine's set. Gary Numan was amazing. Constantly in motion and pouring all his artist capabilities into his performance. I loved the whole set as did everyone there. Numan finishing with encore that included "Are Friends Electric?" as final song had the crowd going crazy with excitment. A wonderful night and I encourahe everyone to see Numan if they get a chance.
I have waited most of my life to see Gary Numan in concert. What a treat to see him in my town, and in a venue that gave me the opportunity to see him up close. It was a lively set, and he was very animated. My only wish is that he would have said something, anything. But as far as the music and the show, wow! Great sounding, great lighting. Really fun.
