GARY NUMAN IN CONCERT:
Inimitable new wave necromancer Gary Numan is as celebrated for cult classics like "Down in the Park" as he is for mainstream '80s superhits like "Cars." Masterfully balancing mass appeal and a darker edge, Numan led audiences through the full gamut of emotions at his 2013 shows, shifting from vitriolic sneer to vulnerable yelp and back again as he wended his way through fan favorites like "Complex" and "We Are Glass." Featuring a full band, an army of icy synths, and his signature lighting design, Numan's 2014 tour dates will deliver more of the intense spectacle he's become known for.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
English-born Gary Numan pioneered commercial electronic music in the late '70s and early '80s with his icy, angular, synth-drenched take on pop's new wave. Following a stint fronting epochal electronic rock outfit Tubeway Army, he struck out on his own, landing three consecutive No. 1's on the UK Albums chart between 1979-1980. Numan's fascination with dystopian themes and technology was a through-line in his music, Â and nowhere was it more apparent than on "Cars," his first international No. 1 and a defining moment in new wave music. A consummate showman made legendary by his spectacularly choreographed live shows, Numan continues to record and tour, hitting the road once again in 2014 in support of his 22nd studio album Splinter (Songs From a Broken Mind).

WOW WOW WOW what is this guy doing at his age? Powerful and dynamic set, and he moves around like a 30-year old. Musicwise, Numan gets better & better year after year. A must see!!!
The Lincoln Theatre is a seated venue so I was a bit afraid of having a rock performance in there. Needless worrying, as soon as Gary Numan hit the stage, everyone stood up and shouted cheering. Gary moves around the stage as I have never seen anyone so dynamic, even half his age. Numan's set is aggressive, loud, intruiging and powerfull. Pure rock with a big touch of synths off course. No real moments of relieve, going from one powerful song to another one, with Intruder, The Gift and The Chosen there were only 3 songs from the latest album, I did hope for some more though. If you still need to see Numan on stage, GO GO GO you won't regret!!!
My 26 year old daughter and I have gone to many concerts. We share musical tastes. Weâve gone to many concerts together. Although before the concert she was aware of my 45 year Numanoid status; by the second number she was herself a Numanoid ;) . You could see in her eyes that this concert was special. You get a sense that Gary is very comfortable where he is, and this allows him to open up into his art; fully unlock his novel creativity. Keep reinventing yourself Gary, your growing a multi generational fan base!
WOW. Great band and show. Very impressive. I admit I only knew "Cars" and went with my friend from highschool who is a fan. Tonight in Detroit at the El Club I learned that Gary Numan and his band are great preformers and musicians. I'm so glad I went to see them in concert!!!
Did not know what to expect. Was blown away first song. Wow.
Gary played a long set by contemporary stsndards. He touched on all points of his decades-developed catalogue, and the crowd ate it up. Can hardly wait for the next time.
The show was fantastic, the advanced melodics, tension, and rhythmic synchronization were simply STUNNING. Thank You So Very Much Gary Numan, this was the best performance we have seen in a very long time.....and believe me, we do a great deal of Sonic Adventure.
It was a phenomenal show! It was on my bucket list to see him perform live and it exceeded my expectations immensely! Gary played a lot of his new material and a little of his earlier songs. I was lucky enough to buy his new release, Intruder, on vinyl and signed, at the show. An even bigger fan now and canât wait to see him again.
Awesome show! Still electronic but much more guitar and drums driven. Solid band and Gary rocked the house. Fun crowd of people just there to have a good time
I was disappointed that the show was moved from the 9:30 Club in DC to the Lincoln Theatre because itâs all seating and no pit to stand in. Also, the sound system at the 9:30 Club is better by far. It was great to be out after two years to see an concert live with no masks.
The Music entrancing, both Gary and I speak digital. Lyrics enhancing by Gary, poetical. The fans fantastical and the scene pure magical. Summary: 'twas Amazing
