About

With over 25 years in comedy, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. It’s no wonder the New York Times wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.”

A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program.

Gulman has made four successful TV specials including his most recent critically acclaimed stand-up special for HBO, The Great Depresh, a tour de force look at mental illness, which is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. In 2019 he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He will next be seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the upcoming Hulu comedy series, Life & Beth, and is currently writing a memoir for Flatiron Books, tentatively titled K Through 12.

    Disappointing

by TG on 4/5/22Carolina Theatre - Durham

Huge fan of Gary, know most of his material. One of the few artists that when I see come up on Sirius XM that I always listen to. This was a very disappointing show. 2 stars is generous. I smiled a few times, had a chuckle or two, but no laughs. The people sitting around me were the same. The material wasn't funny, he went for some cheap / hacky laughs and generally came across as a whiny miserable person. His whole "whoa is me, I'm very poor" came across as very inauthentic. Dude, you're a nationally recognized comic, no one's buying it.

    Fantastic show..hilarious..great seats.

by Leyla G on 4/4/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

Gary Gulman was a real coup for CHS. Pretty easy process getting to our seats with the exception of the purse-size rule. Wasn’t aware ahead of time and therefore needed to purchase clear tote. $5 for a commemorative was worth it.

Gary Gulman has me laughing the entire 1 1/2 hour! He’s so smart, witty, and a fantastic story teller! This was my second time seeing him at Charleston Music Hall. Keep the comedians coming!!!

    Worst comedian ever

by T F on 3/29/22Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

Terrible event. He was so bad we got up and walked out. Not just bad zero jokes zero to laugh at. He is so jealous of Jerry Seinfeld he talked about him and his car addiction for 30 minutes. Nothing funny about it.

    Worth a few laughs

I love Gary but I have to say that he was all over the place on the topics. Maybe he just wasn't on his game that night.

    Hilarious and Relevant

by SarahV on 3/29/22Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

I had no familiarity with Gary prior to attending his show. His comedy was very relevant to todays issues, but also remained hysterically funny. I laughed so much my abs were sore the next day.

    Warm and Genuine

    by D. F. on 3/22/22

I attended the 8 PM show at NJPAC Saturday, 3/19/2022. I did not enjoy the opening comedienne. She came across as unprepared. Gary Gulman, on the other hand, was completely ready to deliver the sharp, smart comedy I expected. I thoroughly enjoyed his "typing" as well as his explanation of Born on 3rd Base. Gary's comedy is drawn from his own life experience which he shares unabashedly. I found him to be warm and genuine and just a tad "bitter".

    Hilarious!

I could not stop laughing. Gary Gulman never disappoints, but this show was just fantastic! He is a master of his craft and it shows. Can’t wait to see him again!

    Meh

by Sender on 3/21/22New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

I’m sorry. I just didn’t find him funny. I get he’s doing the Jewish schticky thing but as a Jew I found it pretty bland. He needs to study up on Don Rickles, Jackie Mason, Joan Rivers. I know I’m a bit older than maybe his target audience (in my 60s) but that whole thing about Seinfeld didn’t strike me as comedic, more something prose or in the Moth. A chuckle here or there. Btw Dina Hashem was cutting edge and hysterical.

Incredibly funny, intimate feeling show, great venue

by Ann Marie on 3/21/22New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Gary Gulman did not disappoint and even thrilled us all. He was on the top of his game, new material, hysterically funny, clever, sweet, and gracious. He had you thinking even as you were laughing. He was so appreciative of the crowd, and the crowd was very receptive! Great natured ribbing the front row without the slightest bit of nastiness. Only with Gary Gulman could you be the brunt of the jokes all night yet have the night be a total joy! The venue was lovely, parking was easy, the staff were helpful and so kind. Such an incredible super fun night! Thank you Gary Gulman!

    Fabulously funny!

by Carol S on 2/3/22Warner Theatre - Washington

I have loved Gary Gulman's comedy for many years. This was the first time I was able to see him live. Gary was very funny and I enjoyed the show and the opening comedienne very much. You can't go wrong seeing anything he does!

    Masks not well enforced

by stuffedrobot on 1/31/22Warner Theatre - Washington

Gary was great. However, throughout the entire night, we saw several people without masks on and none of the theater staff did anything about this. Not once did we see an usher or manager or bartender ask a patron to properly wear their mask or put one on at all. We saw entire parties in the orchestra without them. This was a shame to see as it could lead to shows getting shut down again in the future.

    Hilarious As Expected

by FredDiamond on 1/25/22Warner Theatre - Washington

Gary is brilliant. The theater was packed and he had the audience laughing, perhaps guffawing, the whole time. Lots of new material delivered in his patented way. He gave a pretty long show as well, close to 90 minutes. I highly recommend seeing him live.

    He does it again

by George on 1/25/22Warner Theatre - Washington

Born on third base is the perfect follow-up to The Great Depresh! Continuing to reveal more about himself and his life and perspective, Gary uses his inimitable style and 3.5 or up GPA intelligence to expose his view of the world. From Shark Tank to dentists to Billionaires and, naturally, paramecium, no one is spared. Who else could make "Is this your card?" a monster closing bit? If this is what we get from him being holed up during a pandemic, get me to Wuhan because I have some work to do.
