With over 25 years in comedy, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. It’s no wonder the New York Times wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.”
A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program.
Gulman has made four successful TV specials including his most recent critically acclaimed stand-up special for HBO, The Great Depresh, a tour de force look at mental illness, which is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. In 2019 he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He will next be seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the upcoming Hulu comedy series, Life & Beth, and is currently writing a memoir for Flatiron Books, tentatively titled K Through 12.

Gary Gulman was hilarious! My cheeks hurt from laughing so hard!
There was a woman behind us who kept commenting/yelling
I really wanted to like it but I left after 10 minutes.
Gary Gulman is a master comedian! He has a unique ability to tell a story, filled with digressions, that has a beginning, middle, and amazing and surprising ending. Very insightful and clever. We traveled from Salt Lake City to see him and have been long time admirers. Well done Gary - we kept repeating your jokes for days.
Thank god getting the will call ticket was easy! I would have been happier however, if my ticket had come in the mail. As for the show, it was fantastic! Gary did 75 minutes of all new material and he shined! From talking about Jerry Seinfeld being a billionaire to doing a British accent, to pacing the stage as he delivered his perfectly timed jokes Gary is a master craftsman at the top of his game! He looked healthy and happy and I was glad to see him. I'll definitely be back for the next Gary Gulman show!!! :-) :-) :-)
Sound was good, warm up act solid and Gary remains one of my favorite comics. He delivers well crafted smart material and is fun to listen to.
Gary is one of the wittiest comedians I’ve seen perform. Absolutely would recommend!!!
I like Gary Gulman - I am a fan. This show was a pretty mixed experience. I would say 70% funny/smart, 10% funny/edgy in a way that makes you slightly uncomfortable, and 20% just angry. His bits about billionaires and Seinfeld fell flat for me in large part because his anger was not at all hidden by his cute smile. Does he really think that if Seinfeld didn't have a warehouse for his expensive cars the homeless problem would be solved? Felt like a personal vendetta rather than a comedy show... Lot's of good stuff to laugh at and chew on - still recommend!
Gary's act is well crafted, laugh out loud funny and thought provoking. He elevates the experience with well turned phrases. The audience was strange. There was a couple on the front row that talked enough that he had to stop his act twice and they were almost removed. A few people yelled out and interrupted the pace of the performance. If you are coming to see a comedian, let him do his job.
I bought tickets to Gary Gulman after hearing him on NPR and then buying a CD. Intellectual and funny...Hard to compare him with anybody else. Unique humor, and not raunchy.
What a great time we all had during this one man show. Gulman refrained (well, he hit us once) from the usual derogatory Southern slams. His timing and delivery are spot on. You have to be a tad esoteric for some of his references but that's what makes him unique. Even us Charelstonians caught all his literary references.
Our 3rd time seeing Gary Gulman. What a pleasure to attend his comedy event. He's so smart, clever and clean...doesn't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for his humor. He's sophisticated, but relatable. Such a great show! We'll plan to see him every time he's in town.
Huge fan of Gary, know most of his material. One of the few artists that when I see come up on Sirius XM that I always listen to. This was a very disappointing show. 2 stars is generous. I smiled a few times, had a chuckle or two, but no laughs. The people sitting around me were the same. The material wasn't funny, he went for some cheap / hacky laughs and generally came across as a whiny miserable person. His whole "whoa is me, I'm very poor" came across as very inauthentic. Dude, you're a nationally recognized comic, no one's buying it.
Gary Gulman was a real coup for CHS. Pretty easy process getting to our seats with the exception of the purse-size rule. Wasn’t aware ahead of time and therefore needed to purchase clear tote. $5 for a commemorative was worth it.
Gary Gulman has me laughing the entire 1 1/2 hour! He’s so smart, witty, and a fantastic story teller! This was my second time seeing him at Charleston Music Hall. Keep the comedians coming!!!
Such a fun night- he was amazing!! Such a funny, likable guy- I will see him again if he comes this way again no doubt!!
Smart, thought provoking and entertaining comedy. All new material.
He was on my bucket list of comedians to see. He was better than I anticipated. Great show (material)👍👍
Terrible event. He was so bad we got up and walked out. Not just bad zero jokes zero to laugh at. He is so jealous of Jerry Seinfeld he talked about him and his car addiction for 30 minutes. Nothing funny about it.
