About Garden Brothers Circus

Garden Brothers Circus on Tour

You don’t become North America’s longest-running circus troupe by resting on your laurels, and for its 2021 extravaganza, the Garden Brothers Circus stages its most extreme, over-the-top show ever. Garden Brothers Nuclear Circus: Humans Gone Wild features such breathtaking feats as the “Human Slingshot,” “Motorcycles in the Sphere of Fear,” and the infamous “Wheel of Death” (a massive, vertically rotating structure on which acrobats perform death-defying stunts). But it’s not just humans going wild in this show - the Olate Performing Dogs (as seen on America’s Got Talent) will also make an appearance. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Garden Brothers Circus without such classic carnival attractions as jugglers, trapeze artists and a demonstration from the world’s strongest man. Bring the kids early to meet the performers, get face-painted like a superhero and take a ride down the Monster Slide.

Garden Brothers Background

America had the Ringling Bros., and Canada had the Garden Brothers. Both began as small family businesses before setting the gold standard for big-top entertainment in the 20th century. But with the Ringlings’ circus leaving town for good in 2017, the Garden Brothers now stand as North America’s longest-running carnival revue. Its roots date back to the 1920s, when Scottish emigré William Garden and his wife Jean began touring as a song-and-dance act called Garden & Shaw, sowing the seeds for the official launch of the Garden Bros. Circus in 1938. After William passed away in 1954, his Montreal-based sons Ian and Bill assumed control of the operation and turned it into a touring juggernaut, with Ian playing double duty as animal trainer and ringmaster, while his wife Micheline oversaw the technical aspects. After three successful decades at the helm, the couple passed down the reins to their children Richard and Ian Jr., who eventually handed them off to a cousin, ensuring that the Garden Bros. Circus has remained in the family after a century of spectacles.

  • Great for kids

by Ness on 3/6/19Hale Arena - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

This was my kids first time at the circus and he enjoyed it. All the snacks were amazing and the activities were fun as well. The great thing is that adults were allowed to ride the camel as well or else he might have never gotten on. The staff was all friendly and efficient. I’d love to come again next time they’re around!

  • Tardiness

    by Tee on 3/6/19VSU Multi-Purpose Center - PetersburgRating: 3 out of 5

The show was good BUT Tickets advertised to come an hour early for the kidzone so children could play and have pony rides. Many people arrived at 6 before the 7pm show and we stood outside until around 6:45 in forty degree weather and then to top it off it started to rain. They should have just said come at 7 and show at 8

  • Grand kids liked it

    by B. W. on 3/5/19Hale Arena - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

My grandkids liked it. I was disappointed that there were no elephants and tigers. The advertisements led me to believe it would be a much larger circus than it was. It was an over priced event I thought. For the money I would probably not go again.

  • Overpriced and ok

    by J. G. on 3/4/19Hale Arena - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

It was just that. Everything paid for was 10-15 a piece, luckily we paid half price for the tickets and free children's tickets online. A guy fell off the ball trying to balance.

  • Decent

    by Miss_Sunny_Day on 3/4/19Hale Arena - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

This circus was decent. The production value was really bad, and they blasted music way too loudly. Luckily i just happened to have ear plugs for me and my 1 year old. The "attractions" were overly expensive ($7 for a minute and a half pony ride.) BUT there were a couple of acts that were pretty cool. Theres a young girl that balances on her hands while she shoots a bow and arrow with her feet and hits a target across the room. To the people of the circus, that girl deserves to be center stage, rather than hidden, off to the side while another girl boringly swings from a chandelier center stage. There was also a gentleman who balanced on his head, with no hands, while he swayed back and forth on the trapeze. It was very impressive. The rest of it was ok. It was mostly half naked girls randomly dancing around the stage, while someone juggled, or rode a horse...

  • Very good show well worth the money amazing performances

Wonderful exciting shocking totally awesome beautiful animals my favorite was the elephant and the horse and I absolutely loved the clown

  • Great ticket price. Absolutely ABSURD on the activities

by busy mom on 2/28/19Baxter Arena - OmahaRating: 3 out of 5

Ticket prices were great. However, $12 for cotton candy, $12 for a snow cone, $14 for face painting, $7 for a pony ride, $14 for a camel ride, $7 to go down the inflatable slide. Seriously?!! I didn't even ask about the other items. This is absolutely insane pricing. Especially for a ONE ring circus. The website showed elephants, there were none. It was very cold in the arena. I would definitely NOT take my family again.

  • Great show, minor issue

by Jc on 2/27/19Rupp Arena - LexingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The circus itself is a great show, very impressive performers. My only issue is the over sold the ring side seats. I paid extra for front row seats. Assigned numbers “Row A Seat #” when we were told there is an issue with the seats. We actually had to sit three rows back. Good view but not what I paid for. I really had a good time with the show but man I was looking forward to my sons first time at the circus to be front row and really spectacular.

  • Circus review

by Ralphy on 2/27/19Rupp Arena - LexingtonRating: 2 out of 5

First of all, it started 30 minutes late and with kids anytime being late is not good. I really don't know if i would call it a circus. The animals were camels and horses. Usually at a circus there are more animals like tigers and elephants. The horse, camel rides, and face painting were $14, which i thought was a little pricey. I did like the clown act. He was funny and the motorcycles were cool to watch. Also the acrobats were fun to watch. I don't believe that i would go again though.

  • Wonderful

by Lilly on 2/27/19Rupp Arena - LexingtonRating: 4 out of 5

the show was good. my family and I enjoyed every part of it. I just was not happy with the late start but everything else turned out good. I was especially astonished with the motorcycle show.

  • At least my kids enjoyed it!!

    by N. on 2/27/19Rupp Arena - LexingtonRating: 3 out of 5

We came over an hour early to enjoy the rides and play area for kids...which said elephant rides and bounce houses, but neither were there. Plus we were not let into the arena until almost 4pm when the circus should have been starting. Then the show did not start on time. The information provided said to come hungry because it was an affordable show for the whole family to be able to eat, yet cotton candy was $12, popcorn was $10...that’s not affordable!! Thankfully my kids had never seen a circus...therefore their little hearts were full and their minds were blown!! The performances that we did get to see were amazing!!

  • Had a Great Time!

    by Melissa W on 2/27/19Rupp Arena - LexingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I took my 8 year old daughter and 18-20 year old. The 8 year old loved it! The older ones missed all the animals of circuses long ago. Unfortunately fanatics destroyed that for everyone. Garden Brothers did a great job! Each guest had a favorite part. I would definitely recommend this circus and will see it again if they come back. It is not anything like Barnum and Bailey, more like Cirque de Soleil without the hefty price tag. I thought it was a good value and Io expect knew what to expect so I wasn't disappointed at all.

  • Disappointing circus experience

by Momofpanda on 2/21/19Nashville Municipal Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 2 out of 5

On the Garden Brothers circus website they suggest getting to the show an hour early to experience the kid zone. Our showtime was 1:00. Got in line at 11:45. They did not start letting us in until after 12:30. Get inside and they say sorrow the elephant ride they post about is not available today. Show starts late. A few exciting acts but for the most part a boring show. I would not go back even with a free ticket.

  • Entertaining

    by M. F. on 2/21/19Nashville Municipal Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The show was amazing. The only disappointing part was there was no elephants. I took my 3 year old and my 8 month old and they were both in awe by the acts. As expected the souvenirs and the attractions before the show(pony and camel ride, bounce house, and face paint) were expensive, but my daughter enjoyed it all no the less.

  • My grandkids enjoyed very much. So did I.

by Terry on 2/18/19Crossroads Arena - CorinthRating: 4 out of 5

Very good. I would go again. Great athletes! Trapeze very enjoyable. My grandkids loved it.
