About Garden Brothers Circus

Garden Brothers Circus on Tour

You don’t become North America’s longest-running circus troupe by resting on your laurels, and for its 2021 extravaganza, the Garden Brothers Circus stages its most extreme, over-the-top show ever. Garden Brothers Nuclear Circus: Humans Gone Wild features such breathtaking feats as the “Human Slingshot,” “Motorcycles in the Sphere of Fear,” and the infamous “Wheel of Death” (a massive, vertically rotating structure on which acrobats perform death-defying stunts). But it’s not just humans going wild in this show - the Olate Performing Dogs (as seen on America’s Got Talent) will also make an appearance. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Garden Brothers Circus without such classic carnival attractions as jugglers, trapeze artists and a demonstration from the world’s strongest man. Bring the kids early to meet the performers, get face-painted like a superhero and take a ride down the Monster Slide.

Garden Brothers Background

America had the Ringling Bros., and Canada had the Garden Brothers. Both began as small family businesses before setting the gold standard for big-top entertainment in the 20th century. But with the Ringlings’ circus leaving town for good in 2017, the Garden Brothers now stand as North America’s longest-running carnival revue. Its roots date back to the 1920s, when Scottish emigré William Garden and his wife Jean began touring as a song-and-dance act called Garden & Shaw, sowing the seeds for the official launch of the Garden Bros. Circus in 1938. After William passed away in 1954, his Montreal-based sons Ian and Bill assumed control of the operation and turned it into a touring juggernaut, with Ian playing double duty as animal trainer and ringmaster, while his wife Micheline oversaw the technical aspects. After three successful decades at the helm, the couple passed down the reins to their children Richard and Ian Jr., who eventually handed them off to a cousin, ensuring that the Garden Bros. Circus has remained in the family after a century of spectacles.

  • Not so “free” tickets, missing acts

    by L. W. on 4/9/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

The circus was “ok” - overall the kids had a good time, however, there were several things advertised in print and online (ie elephant rides, kids zone play areas, the smallest horse/pony) that were no where in sight at this circus. It felt like a scam to be honest because if I’d known they would only have what they ended up presenting, I definitely would not have paid $75 for the adult tickets, even with two “free” kids tickets. “Free” because once we got there early as recommended for the kids to play in the Kids Zones, there were people at the front charging money for the kids to get onto each of only TWO bouncey houses! I appreciate the tricks and entertaining shows, however i don’t believe it was worth the value paid, especially when comparing what we saw versus what was promised in their ads. I don’t think I’ll come back again.

  • Excellent

    by D. on 4/8/19Reno Events Center - RenoRating: 5 out of 5

My children and I loved the show. So much excitement an fun energy all around from vendors (food & toys). All employees and members of the circus were all very polite. Will be returning when they come back into town.

  • Fantastic Acts!

by Icabod the Puffin on 4/2/19UMBC Event Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

I was very impressed with each act I saw the night I went to the circus. The acts were fascinating but the performers pushed the limits of each act which created a strong sense of suspense. Every act of skill was done with that method which I feel is the true spirit of an entertainer of this type. Great job by all of the performers! I thoroughly enjoyable evening with my family!

  • We really enjoyed our selves with my son.

by Bonnett on 4/1/19UMBC Event Center - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great experience after not being in a circus atmosphere for over 20 yrs. The admission process to event was simple and we were in and seated in no time. clown was funny and loved the theme"Havana" I do have to say that the fun rides(camel ride) were too expensive and over priced $14 for one turn around the small circle. Staff mending the camel was very short ; not friendly with the kids and rushing them up. Seems to forget that the stairs were not so secure and kids were under 5 ( at least it felt moving) I feel that was a rip off but paid it because of my son wanting an experience.

  • Awesome show!

by MoxRox on 4/1/19UMBC Event Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Very family-oriented show with some death defying feats performed as well. The show held my attention until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

  • It will get better hopefully as it grows

  • Extremely disappointed kids

    by Momof7 on 3/29/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

I purchased adult tickets and had the red tickets for 1 child free per adult. I asked 3 hosts what line my family should be in? I was redirected in and out of lines for 1 hour and 15 minutes and missed the beginning of the show. It saddened me that my 3 year old twins, 5 year old autistic son and 4 year old son that admires the elephants, horses, and all types of animals that you normally see at the circus were not apart of the show. The hosts new that the act was not going to be in attendance it would have been helpful to know that information before standing in line for so long. My children were on tears the experience was very stressful formy entire family. A lot of the acts just were not there. Something should be done about the things taht occured.

  • Not as advertised

    by J. A. on 3/27/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

Circus with no animals and advertisements was for kids :( not make any sense.

  • Great show

    by W. F. on 3/27/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great show and the venue was very easy to navigate and parking was affordable. The only thing missing were the circus animals. Our kids were bummed there were zero animals but it was still a very nice show.

  • Very Disappointed

    by J. on 3/27/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

My kids were really looking forward to seeing the elephants. There was not one single animal in the whole show. It said to arrive one hour early for kids activities which only included 2 bounce houses (that they charge $7 per kid for) and face painting. I really feel like it was false advertisement and was disappointing . The show had its moments but overall..eh...

  • A crappy circus

by Nikea Williams on 3/27/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

I feel like I was lied to based on the advertisement that there would be animals there but there was no animals at all. This is false advertisement. It shouldn't be called a circus it should be called a talent show. Overall, the human performances were nice. The End.

  • Where were the animals

    by A. H. on 3/27/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The show was nice but no animals and children’s playtime cost too much ! 20 bucks to hop around in a moon bounce for a few minutes is absurd !

  • Good for the price...

by Angel on 3/27/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

It wasn’t what I expected. I liked the acts however I wish there was more to it in general. As the title says it was “good for the price” that I paid. Nothing to write home about.

  • Disappointed

by Vbenitez on 3/26/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

I saw on Facebook they say they were going to have ponies n horses and other animals, Which was the reason why I awaited to bring my son n my friend daughter, it was definitely no what I was expecting

  • No animals

by Ahmad on 3/26/19Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

My kids were really looking to see those animal stated on ad, but at the end of the show I realized there are no animals show. My time and kids time where waisted.

  • Going to the Circus

    by L. on 3/7/19VSU Multi-Purpose Center - PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the show. The performers were very good. Felt the elephant should be retired and put out to pasture as well as the camels and horses. Unfortunately, circus animals are of the past. Music was a little loud in a closed arena. Really hard on old ears. Doors were late in opening and it was chilly out there. In fairness heard that the fire marshals, etc. were late in completing their inspection. The door people were very nice so don't think it was their fault. All in all we enjoyed the circus. Our granddaughter like the pretty girls and their sparkly costumes.

  • Weeeelll....

by Ai Attendee with wife and 3 kids on 3/6/19Hale Arena - Kansas CityRating: 1 out of 5

My 7 year old wasn't being grumpy as he sat with his head down, he said said "he was just bored"... He finally popped up and enjoyed the huge cage that spins... 2 year old cried about 90% of the time because he wanted a 20$ bubble toy that they kept walking by and teasing him with. The year old was loving and in to it. Wife was pulling her hair out because it was so boring and we had 2 kids not watching it. I've seen better shows in Branson, MO.... Would NOT go again, even if the tics were free. Total lack of animals at this circus!

  • Just okay.

    by C. S. on 3/6/19Rupp Arena - LexingtonRating: 3 out of 5

While most of the acts were good...we were there for the 1st show and it didn't start on time. Was actually almost 30 min. Was supposed to start at 1:00. and was closer to 1:30. I then felt like it ended weird if that makes sense? Like a huge part was left out and there was no finale. My daughter was so disappointed because everything we saw whether on line or even our ticket showed elephants and that's what she kept waiting for and no elephants. Also...i think the seating needed handled differently. People were arguing over seats and trying to save seats for people who hadn't arrived yet while I saw another lady actually move peoples coats from their seats for her group to sit down while the other group had went to get their kids faces painted!
