About Garden Brothers Circus

Garden Brothers Circus on Tour

You don’t become North America’s longest-running circus troupe by resting on your laurels, and for its 2021 extravaganza, the Garden Brothers Circus stages its most extreme, over-the-top show ever. Garden Brothers Nuclear Circus: Humans Gone Wild features such breathtaking feats as the “Human Slingshot,” “Motorcycles in the Sphere of Fear,” and the infamous “Wheel of Death” (a massive, vertically rotating structure on which acrobats perform death-defying stunts). But it’s not just humans going wild in this show - the Olate Performing Dogs (as seen on America’s Got Talent) will also make an appearance. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Garden Brothers Circus without such classic carnival attractions as jugglers, trapeze artists and a demonstration from the world’s strongest man. Bring the kids early to meet the performers, get face-painted like a superhero and take a ride down the Monster Slide.

Garden Brothers Background

America had the Ringling Bros., and Canada had the Garden Brothers. Both began as small family businesses before setting the gold standard for big-top entertainment in the 20th century. But with the Ringlings’ circus leaving town for good in 2017, the Garden Brothers now stand as North America’s longest-running carnival revue. Its roots date back to the 1920s, when Scottish emigré William Garden and his wife Jean began touring as a song-and-dance act called Garden & Shaw, sowing the seeds for the official launch of the Garden Bros. Circus in 1938. After William passed away in 1954, his Montreal-based sons Ian and Bill assumed control of the operation and turned it into a touring juggernaut, with Ian playing double duty as animal trainer and ringmaster, while his wife Micheline oversaw the technical aspects. After three successful decades at the helm, the couple passed down the reins to their children Richard and Ian Jr., who eventually handed them off to a cousin, ensuring that the Garden Bros. Circus has remained in the family after a century of spectacles.

  • Not bad for a family night

I honestly enjoyed the entire event. Although I did find it to be a little expensive for the performances they were doing. Overall my daughter had a great time. She rode an elephant, it was priceless seeing her face and having that experience and she loved the acts. I would go again for sure.

Was very entertaining, grand kids liked it. Really enjoyed the motorcycles inside the sphere performance.

My Girlfriend and I like the GBC very much. They let her ride the camel and she is far from a child at 64 years old and 5'6". We thought the clowns were really good fare for us and all the children who were laughing and giggling all around us. The acrobats, the horse riders, and the jugglers were very amazing. The show was well organized, fast paced, and seemed to tell a story with each act.

  • Disappointed

    by K. B. on 6/8/19Five Flags Center - DubuqueRating: 2 out of 5

We were unable to hear or understand the ring leader if there was one. Audio was poor and had to many acts going at once. There was several talented actors who had to perform while other acts were in the center- specifically a guy swinging large metal objects . The animal rides / face painting were way overpriced. Very neat show but should of been carried out better.

  • Circus in an intimate setting at Coliseum

by B. Williams on 5/23/19Allen County War Memorial Coliseum - Fort WayneRating: 3 out of 5

After reading numerous reviews online, I was set for disappointment. The Circus was indeed " Delightful. " You could read "Happiness " on each spectator's face. It was s small circus set in an " Exhibitor's Hall which added to the ambiance. Though quaint, it was indeed " Three rings of fun. " The people in charge of lighting did s " 5 Star " job. The Camels, Elephant and Horses especially miniature pony were wonderful! Price was right! The only disappointment was the deluge of people hawking " out of this world " priced souvenirs and refreshments @

  • Bate & Switch

    by A. B. on 5/17/19Carlson Center - FairbanksRating: 2 out of 5

Having seen the commericals, flyers and website I was excited to purchase tickets for my girls. Unfortunately, the circus did not meet my expectations and I was left VERY disappointed. EVERYTHING was very expensive inside the circus and the actual show was less than what they advertised. There were no elephants or camels. What they did provide (horses/ponies) is something we can see on regular basis here in Alaska. The opening act was a bust because one of the motorcycles stopped working. The music was not professionally mixed so it kept cutting off and on sporadically. My girls tried to take it for what it was but they were bored after the 1st session (they are five).

  • Not worth the money

by Rw on 5/17/19Huntington Center - ToledoRating: 3 out of 5

Mostly acrobatics. Very few animals. Not even close to Barnum and Bailey

  • good show

by Michelle on 5/16/19Huntington Center - ToledoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a wonderful performance but unfortunately I saw a young guy fall from a height and then did not move until the ambulance took him away. I sincerely pray that he is all well! There are a few dangerous things here. I only hope that these lovely people will ensure their safety while performing. Thank you for bringing joy to friends all over the world! You are great!

  • Good show, Good Value

  • Garden Brothers Circus

    by B on 5/15/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 2 out of 5

It's really unfortunate that this event wasn't more organized. Their marketing campaign consisted of handing out free "tickets" at the local area elementary schools. One would assume this was the actual ticket to get in to the venue (since it stated it was a ticket), but, no. The lines to get in were long, there was mass confusion as people were being turned away at the door and told to stand in another line for a ticket...nobody seemed to know what was going on and event staff were less than helpful (they seemed unaware of the protocol as well). The prices for food and beverages was astronomical - the circus should be for everyone, but at those prices, I don't see the average person affording any extras. All that being said, the acts were good (not Vegas good, but Alaska good), the animals well trained and seemingly cared for, and the acrobatics were impressive.

  • Line was ridiculous. Attractions were blocked from view.

    by j. h. on 5/14/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 2 out of 5

Would not spend the money again. Music was to loud. Only kept me semi awake. Probably why the music was loud

  • Enjoyed every minute!

Very well presented! All acts were executed with exciting energy! Would attend again!

  • One time visit

by Angel on 5/14/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 3 out of 5

I really enjoyed been a blessing to a single mom of 3 small kids. I had decided that I wanted to visit the circus but also wanted to invite someone. I said a lil prayer and immediately a young family came to mine. I reach out to the mom and invited her and her small kids. Now to say all this, the overall circus entertainment was good. The kids were excited, however small kids need a lot more interaction than bigger kids. Also, small kids want everything they see. However, with those prices the mom could not afford to buy her children the toys they were selling as well as the cotton candy. Really $20 each, remember this is a single mom. I just fill even though I invited them, the prices was way too high. Please keep in mind next time, even though the circus are for kids please limit the pricing of the toys as well.

  • Placement of stage could have been better and more animals.

    by N. E. on 5/14/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 4 out of 5

Overall everything was ok. It would’ve been better like advertised online.

  • Wonderful experience for adults and kids!

    by T. on 5/14/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 5 out of 5

I was able to attend the last show Garden Bros. Had here in Anchorage, Alaska and I must say I was pretty ecstatic. They had breath-taking stunts and included all ages. I was really impressed and would highly recommend. My only suggestion is eat before you go! Prices are extremely high for everything they sold.

  • Mixed

by Jeremy on 5/14/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 3 out of 5

The performers were great. The lack of animals was a huge disapointment. They only had the horses and it cost 14 bucks a ride witch consisted of one walk around the ring. Conssesions were outrageous. 10 bucks for a small popcorn, 15 for cotton candy, 10 for a nasty tasting slushy.

  • Great!

by Eric on 5/14/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 5 out of 5

Since I live in Alaska, I was not expecting much from this Circus. However, they put on a great show! The performers are really skilled and their acts rival anything I have seen in Vegas. We had a great time!

  • Enjoyed but needs improvement!

by Mother on 5/14/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 4 out of 5

This was a show that kept your attention the whole time. It was very entertaining. There was a lot of laughing and a lot of gasping throughout the show. I would give it a 5 star but the clown scene at the beginning was quite disappointing. They put so much anger into the one performer and made it a joke to act like that in public. For a show that is geared towards kids this should not be a part of it. There are many other ways to make the families laugh.

  • Fun

    by P. S. on 5/13/19George M Sullivan Sports Arena - AnchorageRating: 4 out of 5

Was a good show, but food and drinks were really expensive.

  • Circus-not what it used to be

by Jam on 4/28/19Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena - BinghamtonRating: 2 out of 5

This was not a Circus, it was just the side show acts. They were good at what they did but it definitely was not the Circus of old. The Circus used to be animals, acrobats, high wire acts, clowns and lots of excitement.
