    funkfest

by booboolynn on 4/29/13Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Very loud & some what confusing. Could recognize beginning or part of song then it went wild. Awaiting songs with sir nose in them, but, guess ran out time, but it was only 11:00. Only my thoughts. But, overall I could everyone gave their best. My applause for their efforts despite the crowds feedback.

    One Hell Of A Show!

All the groups sounded just like they did from back in the day. Appearance was a bit older of course.

    An Unforgettable Classic Event...

by ChinChinTPA on 9/5/12Dell Music Center - Philadelphia

When you get George Clinton and the Parliament my favorite group, along with the Ohio Players, War, Dazz Band, Barkays ... OMG.... I couldn't wait to purchase my tickets the minute that I found out that they were performing. What a great venu... I had an absolute Blast... That's was my first time seeing Lady B... Relocating to New Jersey from Florida this was my first outside music event in Philly and I enjoyed every minute of it... I'm and 80's baby and I never knew the names of most of my loved songs and I was just floored.. LOVED IT!!! I think I danced the entire night.

    Old Skhool Comeback

by lynej99 on 9/2/12Dell Music Center - Philadelphia

All groups were good, but George Clinton and Paraliment was a little too loud. I also didn't like that they didn't wear their infamous costumes.

    Truth In Advertising?

by MsMecie on 9/1/12Dell Music Center - Philadelphia

The sound for the Parliament set was horrible. The band, using the term loosely, was loud and amateurish. In fact, much of audience started leaving shortly into the set. George Clinton was MIA. i really enjoyed WAR but was disappointed with the collective concept of Dazz Band, Barkays and the Ohio Players. It was not advertised as such. Why were the Barkays singing an old O'Jays song (Let me make love to you) Lol. A funk monster jam? Get the funk out out of my face!

    Funkfest-War

The entire show, entertainers, and the audience were great, under a perfect evening (full moon, great weather) . A fantastic way to end the summer.

    Funking fantastic!

by BostonJoe on 8/10/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Dazz Band & Mary Jane Girls were good. MJG did a couple of Rick James songs as a tribute & were joined on stage by his daughter. I wasn't expecting a lot from One Way but they were fantastic & I think they were my favorites. I forgot how many great songs they had. They got the crowd going wild. They & the Ohio Players had all the best things about 70s groups: great vocals, great musicians, and lots of horns. Ohio Players were also fantastic & the crowd went wild during Love Rollercoaster & Fire. Morris Day & the Time are great entertainers. Their music & vocals were great. The sold out crowd was on their feet the entire time. It was one monster funk party.

Dazz Band should have stayed home even though I love them. MJ Girls - well the past is the past. AL HUDSON & ONE WAY threw down! I wish they had sang one slow jam at least though. Sugarfoot was so awesome that you could see the previous acts peeking from behind the curtains because they knew they were witnessing a historical event - funk excellence was portrayed to the MAX by the Ohio Players. Morris is still Morris but without Jerome, the Time has now lost too many original members.

    FunkFest falls flat

by Timeless2011 on 8/8/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

It It was not for SugarFoot/s Ohio Players. It would have been totaly forgetable.. That band was tight, and were true to the FUNK! One Way have one good song: "Mr.Groove". other than that there was not much. The MJ Girls were very good, but the set was too short. I was most dissapointed by Morris Day! The Musicians were great but Morris Day seemed to be just half stepping through the set. That part that showed me that he was not trying to make the connection with the audience was when the bass player Ricky Freeze thanked the audience for the support over the years of the “Time” although heartfelt That should have come from Morris. Well at least 40 something years latter Sugar Foot walking cane and all is still keeping it real.

    Morris still got IT!!!

by oleforumfan on 8/8/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Saw Morris Day and the Time back in the 80's when he was opening w/Prince...still some of the funkiest showmen in the business today. There set was the most anticipated and was well received...the people in around our sect. was crazy when Morris was on stage! I'd definitely catch these guys anytime they're in the Los Angeles, CA area!!!

    Frankie Bev and Maze

by Oleskool on 6/13/11Charter Amphitheatre at Heritage Park - Simpsonville

For me, the high light of the show was Frankie Beverly & Maze, although Frankie wasn't at his best, Vocally, perhaps, due to the weather, sinus, allergies, a cold. Not sure what was going on, The group was still tight, and sounded good.
