Strictly for child and preteen FROZEN movie fans

by Silverlaker2 on 4/6/18St. James Theatre - New York

Kids and preteens squealed and cheered. But I am an adult who goes to the theatre often, and the script for this show was embarrassing — certainly not Broadway caliber. Thankfully the actors playing the leading roles are strong singers and have engaging personalities. But I was left unmoved — the deafeningly loud sound and the sketchy story line that wavered from sentimental to goofy didn’t allow for any genuine feelings. I would have rated it lower except the lighting effects were spectacular. Note that there is a vulgar, Mel Brooks type of number at the start of the second act that may make adults who brought small children feel squeamish. Overall this was like a Disney theme park show except with stronger pro actors and more expensive effects. For the same cost of these tickets, you could fly your family to Disney World and have an entire day of entertainment. Sight lines in the St James theatre are excellent from all locations. No need to pay for premium seats — in fact, sitting further away gives a better view of the stage effects, and the acting is so exaggerated that you don’t need to be close. Note that the mezzanine has good views but very cramped leg room. For little kids, extra seat cushions are provided.

    Total flop casting

by JeJones24 on 4/6/18St. James Theatre - New York

I could understand a local production casting an African American actress to play Anna but to pay over $300 for a ticket and have a white Anna child then see an African American Anna adult was a real disappointment. The actress performed very well, however, the issue, for me, lay in the story, visual and continuity of the story line. I didn’t pay over $300 to watch a show Disney could done better at Disneyland.

    Really enjoyed the show

by Knb0204 on 4/4/18St. James Theatre - New York

There are some icon songs here to be done well and were they ever! Great effects and a very fun overall show. Enough new songs that it didn't feel just like the movie, though the "classics" are generally the best. Really glad we saw the show.

    It's just ok

by alohadiver on 4/4/18St. James Theatre - New York

I had big hopes for the show, but it just didn't come through. Aside from the song "let it go" & 1 other "true Love" the songs are nothing to hum about after the show. The acting is ok, Patti Murin is wonderful, her voice is beautiful. The main issue I had with the show is that there are way too many kids that wouldn't or couldn't be quiet. I am sorry, but if I shell out $100.00 + for a ticket I want to HEAR the show & not have to listen to some brat crying behind me.

    Amazing!

by JuliaJacob on 4/4/18St. James Theatre - New York

As someone who has been to many, many broadway shows throughout my life, I have to say that Frozen is in my top 5. I really enjoyed the performance and thought the actors were all incredible! Our favorites were Sven and Olaf, as their portrayals were unique and hilarious! It’s been several days since I’ve seen it and the songs are still playing in my head. It’s very similar to the movie, but there are a few new songs and some other differences. Great theatrical effects as well! We took our 5 year old daughter and she absolutely loved it! This isn’t really a show for children much younger than that, as it is a broadway show and they will have to sit quietly. We left our 2 year old at home.

Was an amazing adaptation of the film

by LIZ593 on 4/3/18St. James Theatre - New York

I absolutely loved this show. The young Anna stole the show for me, she was so energetic and cheeeky. The effects were mind blowing and the new songs were incredible. There was a very worthy Standing ovation at the end and we all wanted more! Beautiful set and costumes. I can't wait until it comes to the west end... Assuming it does... As I cant afford to go back to New York again especially to see it like I just did. Did not disappoint at all.

    Not exceed my expectation

by taka4 on 4/3/18St. James Theatre - New York

Good but not better than movie... No means to see as a stage, pay over 100 dollers. It is enough to see movie...

    Hygge!

by kmkrr on 4/3/18St. James Theatre - New York

Frozen was spectacular! The actresses playing Elsa and Anna were perfect and Anna was hilarious. Olaf was cleverly portrayed and the scenery was gorgeous. As the title of this review implies it was an enjoyable two hours!

    Fun and enjoyable

by MarisaJade on 4/3/18St. James Theatre - New York

Took my 10 year old granddaughter. We enjoyed the play but are confused and upset that they changed the characters to people of color when the story is not that. We are not being discriminatory but the characters do not fit a Norwegian family.

    Frozen was magical!

by ddubbs1 on 4/3/18St. James Theatre - New York

I heard mixed reviews before attending, but the verdict is in! Frozen is magical! Like everything else Disney, Frozen was amazing and special. The set design alone was worth seeing. Adding on some amazing actors and you get one incredible night! My daughter was in such awe that she cried at the end of the night because she loved it so. Bravo!

    Frozen left me cold

Awful, boring, and no plot. Great actors and singers, effects are both amazing and cheesy.

    Good singing

by Baggies on 4/2/18St. James Theatre - New York

Hard to imagine 2 things....little Anna, a red headed caucasian grows up to be a brown haired African American. Olaf was diffocult to follow since I tended to watch the puppeteer. Wish Olaf was in a costume.
