Indie pop trio Foster the People came together in Los Angeles in 2009. The group is known for psychedelic, dance-orientated pop and rock which spans many genres. Their 2011 album Torches has sold over 321,000 copies and their single “Pumped Up Kicks” was the sixth-best-selling digital song in the same year, selling 3.84 million copies.
The band was formed by Mark Foster in 2009. He provides lead vocals and plays several instruments, including keyboards and guitar. His fellow band mates comprise Cubbie Finkton on bass and Mark Pontius on drums and percussion. Their first song “Pumped Up Kicks” was an internet success in 2011 and the group was offered a record deal. The band slowly began to build up a fan base by making appearances at small venues and appearing at several music festivals, including South by Southwest and at Coachella. They continued to perform and were booked for a month-long residency of concerts at the Echo night club in LA. By the time they came to perform for the third time, there were hundreds of people queuing to get in and the group were beginning to capture public attention.
Their single “Pumped Up Kicks” was released in 2011 and gained airplay on alternative radio stations, entering the Billboard Rock Songs Chart as well as the Alternative Songs Chart. In May of the same year, the track entered the Billboard Hot 100. Later that month, the group released the album Torches, which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 8. The band then embarked upon a sell-out tour in the US and Europe that lasted 10 months.
The band continued to build up a following, with ”Pumped Up Kicks” breaking into the mainstream top 40 and spending eight weeks at No. 3. Foster the People have scooped several awards for their music, including Top Rock Song for “Pumped up Kicks” at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. They have also been nominated numerous times, including two Grammy Award nominations for “Pumped Up Kicks” and Torches. At the awards ceremony, the band performed alongside Maroon 5 with The Beach Boys in celebration of the Beach Boys' fiftieth anniversary. In addition, the band have been nominated for two NME Awards and two MTV Music Video Awards. Their latest album is called SuperModel.
They put on a great show. They play so well and really give off great energy.
Took my Kid who is big fan. We had a blast even though the singer was under the weather. They did great.
One of the best shows I’ve seen in years! The music, lighting, energy, and performance were perfect. I’ve loved this band for years but this show still exceeded my expectations.
Both Foster The People and Cold War Kids were fantastic!
Sound was awesome. The venue was perfect, as always. Would buy tix to see them again.
Foster the People put on an incredible show at the Tabernacle, which is hands down the best venue in Atlanta. Their energy on stage was palpable from the very first song and it continued throughout the entire show. I had pretty much resigned myself to thinking I would never have the opportunity to see Foster the People live so attending this concert was an unforgettable experience for me!
I am a fan and saw them on their last tour which was years ago. Their sound is always fantastic but they really upped their game for this tour. They have an awesome light show for their stage. They have created these amazing intros and interludes for each song that you will never hear outside of this live performance. Not only does it really pump up the audience but it elevates their sound to a whole other level. Electronica mixed with rock mixed with psychedelic mixed with their signature sound = a live event you won't soon forget! If you have the opportunity to see Foster the People live, I highly recommend it.
3rd time seeing Foster The People they were amazing as always! It was my first time attending a show at The Fillmore and I loved the venue!
Mark and the rest of the band are the best live performers I’ve ever witnessed
Awesome event!!! Great venue..band was terrific. Just make sure you get in the Ritz early or you will not have a good view of the band.
BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE, I LOVE THIS BAND SO MUCH!!!
I was so inspired and impressed by their live performance! I have loved this band since their first album Torches was released. The lead singer Mark Foster, his voice live sounds exactly like it does on recording. The band was brilliant and I left feeling so full of energy and inspired. Hands down I recommend this to everyone!
I've been following the band since their first single. The sound they have achieved is incredible.
I've been a fan of FTP for many years but this was my first time seeing them live and am I glad I did. It was an amazing live experience, and the talent and stage presence of the band members was electric. The set list was also excellent. Additionally, I appreciated Mark Foster using his platform to talk to the audience about spreading joy and peace. Bottom line is: if you're a fan, go see them!
What can I say about Foster the people? These guys put on quite a show with lights, sounds, music, & of course the great singing. Had fun from start to finish. will definately see them again.
The venue was really small but nice, the organisation well done, the band was outstanding, I just love them!
Took my friend who did not know many of Foster the Peoples songs and she can't shut up about them now. Loved loved this show..and love love their music!!
I've been wanting to see FTP since their debut album. I've always heard they were amazing live but I was never able to say so for myself until Sep. 29. Hard Rock Live Orlando was a great venue to watch one of my favorite bands. There was lots of security which made me feel safe, especially since I went to the concert by myself. I had balcony seats on the 2nd row and they were amazing! I sat the whole time and was able to just listen and sing along to FTP and really enjoy the concert. The sound was great although the base was loud. I didn't mind it though because it didn't interfere with the band. I would definetly recommend this venue as well as FTP!
I had a great time at Foster the people's concert. The music, the lights, the sound, the place were on point. You would never forget this experience.
Their music Live is Wow. The venue was excellent. Would go again
