Indie pop trio Foster the People came together in Los Angeles in 2009. The group is known for psychedelic, dance-orientated pop and rock which spans many genres. Their 2011 album Torches has sold over 321,000 copies and their single “Pumped Up Kicks” was the sixth-best-selling digital song in the same year, selling 3.84 million copies.
The band was formed by Mark Foster in 2009. He provides lead vocals and plays several instruments, including keyboards and guitar. His fellow band mates comprise Cubbie Finkton on bass and Mark Pontius on drums and percussion. Their first song “Pumped Up Kicks” was an internet success in 2011 and the group was offered a record deal. The band slowly began to build up a fan base by making appearances at small venues and appearing at several music festivals, including South by Southwest and at Coachella. They continued to perform and were booked for a month-long residency of concerts at the Echo night club in LA. By the time they came to perform for the third time, there were hundreds of people queuing to get in and the group were beginning to capture public attention.
Their single “Pumped Up Kicks” was released in 2011 and gained airplay on alternative radio stations, entering the Billboard Rock Songs Chart as well as the Alternative Songs Chart. In May of the same year, the track entered the Billboard Hot 100. Later that month, the group released the album Torches, which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 8. The band then embarked upon a sell-out tour in the US and Europe that lasted 10 months.
The band continued to build up a following, with ”Pumped Up Kicks” breaking into the mainstream top 40 and spending eight weeks at No. 3. Foster the People have scooped several awards for their music, including Top Rock Song for “Pumped up Kicks” at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. They have also been nominated numerous times, including two Grammy Award nominations for “Pumped Up Kicks” and Torches. At the awards ceremony, the band performed alongside Maroon 5 with The Beach Boys in celebration of the Beach Boys' fiftieth anniversary. In addition, the band have been nominated for two NME Awards and two MTV Music Video Awards. Their latest album is called SuperModel.

Was great to see FTP, sound was great 5 star show! Can’t wait to see them again soon.
Foster the People always bring it. It was so wonderful to see them perform. The Wiltern sound system was on point and made the experience glorious!
I can’t believe I got to experience Foster the People’s first album all the way through!! An experience I will not forget !! My only semi complaint was that there was no specific start time for the band so we ended up waiting 2 hrs for the band to come on since the doors opened. Other Than that amazing!
Had such an amazing time seeing AJR & Foster the People! Such talent between both groups
They sounded great! We enjoyed every minute of it. They played a great mix of old and new stuff.
While I love Foster the People's recordings, they were underwhelming live. Mark Foster's voice is thin and reedy, and he did way too much emo prancing. Then there was the self-indulgent prattle - Everything on the planet is vibrating! We're all vibrating! We're vibrating in this moment together! AJR, on the other hand, was an act worth seeing. In contrast to Foster the People, they sounded better live. Their playing was joyful, and the brothers had an easy rapport with the audience. See them before they start commanding higher ticket prices and save Foster the People for Spotify.
Stir is always a great venue. BEST IN OMAHA/COUNCIL BLUFFS. AJR was great and Foster the People put on a hell of a set.
Loved watching AJR at stir cove. Weather was perfect and it was so comfy sitting on the grass. I like having the option of sitting further back but still able to see everything.
Overall really good show. Lights and presentation well done. Wish they would’ve played more songs from their first album, but they played a fair amount. Couldn’t really see the rest of the band besides the singer, but they did a well job of sounding like themselves. AJR was amazing before them too, both bands extremely talented.
Love Stir Cove!! Always a good experience, lots of variety.
AJR was very good. They were very comfortable on stage and had musical talent. Mark Foster was a little distant at times but the band rocked out as usual. I will see them again in KC.
It was so so fun! The venue was great and super safe and everyone around me was having an amazing time!
Foster the People was everything I imagined! Played all my favorites and put on a good show. Venue had the option to sit on grass, stand nearstage, and large VIP sections with chairs. Area was well organized. Expensive food and drink, but free parking!
Such fantastic energy ❤️The music and the performance was unforgettable. I had the best time ❤️The venue and Mr Gabriel were so much fun
This show was great!!! I was highly impressed with their performance and their musical talent when seeing them live. They had quite the light display at their show, and I was getting a kick out of Mark Foster's dance moves!!! He has got it going on! Lol! Their opening band, Mr Gabriel, was amazing as well!!!
Though Mark Foster claimed they had not been in St. Louis in about 4 years, I don't ever recall them playing here. Show was their third in as many nights so I seemed shorter than I expected. Good to see them and the Pageant is a great venue.
Great view anywhere in the building. They put on an amazing show. Last show I went to at the pageant was Milky chance. This one beat that concert. This is one of the best that I’ve been too. Foster the people put on an amazing shown glad I bought tickets
This set was unforgettable. The lights, the presentation, the MUSIC - all amazing. And The Pageant was a great place to experience this lovely band live. GO SEE THEM IF U CAN!! Wowzaaaaa <333
Great show by Foster the People. Nice use of lighting and band sounded awesome.I wish they would have played longer.
