The Flying Bach is a clash of cultures where classical music meets breakdance. The Flying Steps, four time breakdance world champions, deliver a creative performance set to Johann Sebastian Bach's "The Well-Tempered Clavier", bridging the art forms of classical and urban culture. The elegant music along with explosive moves creates an amazing and entertaining show for people of all ages and demographics.

If the dancers actually performed when the piano was being played instead of the dubbed over music this could have been an unbelievable show. But unfortunately we found it rather odd. The story was hard to follow and when they actually do play the piano, there is a video screen scene....annoying. I didn't pay a large amount of money to watch a movie!
One of the best shows I have ever seen absolutely amazing
Talk about athleticism! I wasn't sure what to expect, but we loved it! Trying to describe the moves is impossible. It is a MUST SEE for all family members.
We love all genres of music and dance and this was an amazing blend of classical and some hip hop music to b-boy and modern dance. All the elements of this show was amazing from the dancers' physical moves to the piano and harpsichord players. It's great what this group is doing to bring classical music to the younger audience!! Great job all around.
Very talented group of performers without enough material for a full show. There were 2 or 3 instances when the performers left the stage and we watched videos of the performers while the pianists played. We had purchased seats in row 8 so that my husband, who has limited eyesight, would be able to see. The stage was so high that we could only see the upper half of the performer's bodies. Since this was break dancing, we missed a great amount of the show. I ended up finding a place on the side to stand up for most of the performance
I bought seats on the 5th row, which turned out to be the front row. From that row you could see the dancers heads. That's it. You couldn't stretch your neck and see the dancers. The stage was at least two feet too high. I went out to ask someone to reseat us, ended up having to raise hell with three different people to get different seats (they didn't care a bit and were rude). The new seats were better, but still too low relative to the stage. No refund for the difference in seat cost.
Interesting for the first 20 minutes and then truly boring. The girl, really didn't fit in, with her way of dancing, or the way she was dressed up. The guys simple keep repeating same moves over and over. And the story, with them slapping the girl and then she slapping some of them, was not fun at all. I wish we red reviews before we went, because we would never waisted time watching this.
The show was good, but I can't really tell you how good because I could not see most of the dancing unless they were at the very front of the stage and I could Not see any of the footwork. It was SO disappointing. My seats were second row orchestra, expensive and should have been fantastic, but the height of the stage was such that no one in the first 5-10 rows could see everything. These seats should have been sold as "limited view" and at a discount. I'm not sure if this is Red Bulls fault or the Masonic's fault, but it ruined the show for me.
Choreography was boring. Thank god the show was only an hour long or else we would have left early.
The dancing was very athletic and virtuosic and interpreted the music very well. The compositions used included familiar and unfamiliar pieces
Great show, venue, Bboys and Ballet dancer were great together. Stamina was strong, takes alot of work, time, patience, health to perform Classical Piano Bach pieces. Great Job!
These boys are unbelievable. Absolutely marvelous. A relatively short performance (about 1hr) in which we enjoyed every minute. Top: dancers Great: pianists Cool: music–although, I never liked Bach very much and that hasn't changed. I wish they were Flying Mozarts or else instead : )) There is a pretty good sight from everywhere you sit and if you don't have such a very cute and freshly fallen in love couple in the row before of you... What sucked: the seats. For longer performances it would have been an imposition.
The skill and originality of the performers was exceptional. The choreography was outstanding and allowed each member to shine. Bravo for introducing classical music to the public in an unconventional and exciting fashion!!
Simply the most incredible dance performance I have ever seen. The juxtaposition of older instruments and phat beat drops with the best break dancers out there is just a pleasure to take in. I will say I hope I never hear another harpsichord again though. I absolutely recommend this awesome event. Red Bull killing it as usual.
sunday night was the group's last performance before moving onto their next city. they seemed tired. not a great deal of break dancing but a lot of background pix to music projected onto a big screen. a bit disappointed, actually. based on the previews I saw, I expected much more.
The show was so entertaining that we, at times, forgot they were dancing to classical music from the seventeen hundreds. It could have used a few more female performers a sprinkle of other various dance styles and a better story line. The performers are truly talented and gifted dancers. Absolutely amazing
Awesome, non-stop entertainment for 90 minutes. A great mix of live piano and harpsichord and electronic music. Ballet and break dancing. Definitely exciting for anyone of any age.
What a great show, non-stop from start to finish. My 11 year old loved it and already asked to take dance lessons. The seat location was fantastic, great view and service. We will be coming back for sure.
I've seen flying bach a few times in Chicago. Definitely a show worth going to. There are some parts I'm not a fan of, but overall - it's fabulous! Prefer battle breaking, and could do without the ballerina, the music is incredible. Will continue to go each time they come to Chicago. Missed bboy Nono (Nordine) though, he's definitely my favorite from Flying Steps.
