About

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

  • It was a wet & Soggy night But F.I.T.T. warmed it

by srwrci on 6/1/11Tom McCall Waterfront Park - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

it was a great show from start Cas Haley) to finish (Fitz & The Tantrums) it rained and haled throughout the night, but we were offered trash bags for make shift ponchos and weathered the storms, Cas was outstanding, as was Bushwalla & Leroy Bell, but Fitz and the Tantrums certinly through it over the top and evaporated the water. a great night brought to us by one of our local radio stations KINK!

  • Worth the rain and the hail!

by nickelphil on 5/31/11Tom McCall Waterfront Park - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

After getting poured on for an hour and a half waiting for the show my resolve to stick around for Fitz and the Tantrums was waning. Totally worth it though, they were fantastic and their cover of Sweet Dreams was amazing.

  • Fitz and The Tantrums... must see live!

by ashleykayyyy on 5/30/11Tom McCall Waterfront Park - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Despite the rain that occurred earlier in the night before Fitz went on... it did not stop almost the entire crowd from shakin their thang during their set. They had the perfect energy that was needed to get us all going. The band was AMAZING. Great bass player! Awesome drummer! Amazing saxophone player. I was impressed. More so, I brought along my boyfriend whom had never heard of Fitz before and he was just as blown away and amazed as I was. Great band, great show, great location.

  • Incredible New Band & Sound

by Lorax on 5/30/11Tom McCall Waterfront Park - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz & the Tantrums are an infectious good time. Every song was played with an energy rarely found anymore. Michael Fitzpatrick, the lead, is so full of himself and for good reason. The songs he has written and sings are a bright new day for the soul & blues genre. Noelle Skaggs brings an energy to the stage that I don't think I have ever seen. Maybe Mick Jagger when he younger, but that was a while back, now wasn't it? James King on the Sax's(Bari & Tenor), plus his complete understanding of the flute. WOW! My favorite new group out there. I brought my 13 year old son who just picked up the tenor and it made him realize what is possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Great Combo

by ChiTownJ on 4/26/11Club Congress - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

The venue was perfect for a rockin' combination of Fitz & The Tantrums and opening act April Smith and the Great Picture Show. The sound was loud and clear with a great mix that showed off the talents of everyone in both groups. Despite the name recognition, I thought that both acts were of equal caliber which made the low priced ticket even a better value. If the objective is to have a great time and leave'em wanting more, they nailed it.

  • The best value in entertainment so far...

by MitNagrom on 4/24/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing! Thats all I have to say. I bought 4 tickets to the show ($15ea) and talked 3 friends into going. By the 3rd song they were all looking at me bobbing their heads and giving me looks of gratitude and approval. None of us expected such a great night. She saxaphone player was amazing, they all nailed their marks, and the backup singer stole the show. Best $15 bucks Ive EVER spent. IF you want a good night of fun, dont miss this show.

  • We knew it would be a good show - it was GREAT

High Energy and one hell of a good time. The opening band was good as well... Make sure you see these guys.

  • Fitz & The Tantrums was awesome!

by LoversLane on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

I heard about this band on Cincy radio94.1. Went home watched it on youtube, downloaded it on amazon and FELL IN L.O.V!! We danced all night. I would have stayed and danced all over if they had another show! I love how the whole band is part of the show. Noelle Scaggs is not a "back up singer". She is right out front. So is the main man sax player!

  • Great show and a fun time!

    by CinciFan1 on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

It always a treat seeing a band full of energy that truly wants to perform for its fans, and that's what the audience got! Fitzpatrick and Scaggs kept getting the crowd into the music throughout the show. They played everything off of Pickin' Up The Pieces, a song from their first EP and a cover of the Eurythmics 'Sweet Dreams'. The songs were fast and tight. See them in the smaller venues while you can!

  • FITZ IS TITZ!!!

by Dgrwetta on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

FITZ IS TITZ!!! Would have liked another half hour to their set, but they only have one album of material to work with. Liked the 2 new songs. Really enjoyed the show, just wished it lasted longer. That's the only reason for just 4 stars.

  • Fitz and the Tantrums were fantastic!

by Allyschu on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

An utterly amazing show! I can't wait to see them again! One of the best performances I've seen!

by dibobi on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I have seen Fitz and the Tantrums live and they are totally awesome! They have so much energy, you can't help but clap and dance! I love the chemistry between and Fitz and Noelle, and the rest of the band are such great musicians. I highly recommend seeing them live - you won't regret it!

  • by LaFornarina on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

There are no words for how great this show was. I'm still wound up from all the adrenaline!

  • Simply awesome!

by fnygrl on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Anyone who missed this high energy, awesome performance simply missed out. Those who were there can say, "I saw them before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon!" Not only was the performance terrific, but they came out after the show and gave autographs and chatted with fans. Gracious and fun!

  • Awesome, Awesome show!!!!

by JonnyMack on 4/12/1120th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

See them now at these smaller venues before they blow up and only start playing larger arenas. They are all phenomenal musicians and really keep the energy going throughout the show. Highly recommended.

great concert! new bands, established bands, wished the sets were longer, but hey, for $5 totally worth it! Bands stuck around to sign shirts/posters after... could've been an outdoor show, the weather was so nice...a little steamy/hot inside but overall a great show!
