FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

"Fitz And The Tantrums put on a great concert!!! The setlist was awesome and the crowd was singing and dancing with the band!!!"

"Loved this concert. They were so good -- all their music is so distinct. Excellent musicianship all the way around and TONS of energy."

The whole concert is so high energy, I was dancing the whole time with much of the crowd. They seem like genuine people as well - really appreciative of the fans."

    Fitz rocks MHOW

by rbenny on 2/18/11Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

I saw Fitz and the Tantrums a month or so ago at Bowery Ballroom and they were great. They were so happy to be playing NYC again and thrilled they sold out the place. And with very little air play. So they added this show two weeks ago to the end of their 5 week tour and word is out. They sold out in 4 days. The energy was unbelievable. From the crowd and from the band. They just have this ready to break through confidence going and this is the kind of thing that makes a concert by a new group so exciting. Unfortunately the sound guy struggled throughout the show. At the start Fitz's mic was a bit hollow on the top end and from there it got worse. Not terrible but it could have been better for sure. I would bet most of the crowd didn't even notice but I work in audio so I wanted to jump up to the sound board and help him. But even for me it didn't hurt the excitement or how I felt about the show. Just nit picking. See these guys while you can still catch them in a small venue. Pure Magic

This is only the beginning!!! I LOVE Fitz!!!

by Fitzfanatic on 2/16/11Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

This concert was a rumpshaker from beginning to end...what a great venue for a band who is only getting bigger by the minute!! The band is tight...the sound is an incredible fusion of soul, R & B, and hip hop. I cannot say enough good things about them! I LOVE this band and can't get their songs out of my head and don't want to get their songs out of my head...looking forward to what's to come! I even received a kiss on my hand from Fitz after the show!!! What a gentleman!!!

Fitz & The Tantrums was AWESOME

by AmyKin on 2/14/11Bunkers - Minneapolis

WOW!! My daughter found this band a month ago by watching the TV show Criminal Minds and what a gem she found!! Their sound is unique, big, and absolutely fantastic. The venue was a bit crowded but that didn't detract from the experience at all. Not only was Fitz fabulous but the opening band Chester Bay was also great!! Please bring them back to MN!!!

The sound guy ruined the show. Very talented entertaining band, amazing sax player, and well crafted songs. However the sound started out bad and progressed from worse to unbearable. Really? Did you have a sound check? Or did the sound guy get too boozed?

    Don't Miss These Guys!

    by essemjay58 on 2/12/11Bunkers - Minneapolis

These guys put on a great, high-energy show at Bunker's in Minneapolis 2 nights ago. Very intimate setting, I think by next time around they'll be in a bigger place. They're on the way up! Be sure to see them, you can say you were there from the beginning!

Fitz and the Tantrums is the show to see!

by mbak on 2/12/11Bunkers - Minneapolis

fitz and the Tantrums is a must see show. The two lead singers have chemistry, energy, great moves and fresh lyrics; they take the audience on a ride that keeps people singing, shouting, dancing and engaged. Think David Byrne with a soulful pop sensibility. The girl is like a ramped up battery with no hint of drugs, just wild abandon and moves that are too good to be true! The band is tight. There is a cool hipness without an an ounce of arrogance - the entire show was a joy!

Show of a lifetime at the Newport, Columbus, Ohio

by vascmedRN on 2/2/11Newport Music Hall - Columbus

The show was completely amazing, and I would venture to say one of the most memorable concerts I have ever attended. Noelle Scaggs came out onto the stage on fire, and even though suffering from laryngitis at the time, you would've never known it had she not mentioned it. Michael Fitzpatrick's voice was velvety and the connection between he an Noelle was undeniable- their voices created a harmonious sultry love affair throughout the show. From the ballad, "Tighter," to the upbeat "L.O.V," I found myself wanting more... After the show, Noelle and Fitz spent time with fans while selling band apparel and albums- They generously autographed albums and took pictures with anyone who asked. You got the impression that they genuinely care about their fan base and realize that their success is in large part determined by the connection they have with those who buy and listen to their music... If you EVER have a chance to see Fitz and the Tantrums, do it- you WON'T regret it!!!

Great music. I enjoyed both Fitz and the Tantrums as well as the Phantods. I might even go see the Phantods this Friday at Lobo.

Tantrums were good... Phantods were great

by TheoSchranner on 2/2/11Newport Music Hall - Columbus

The theatricality of the Tantrums really sets them apart from most other groups. I enjoyed their show. The lead-in band, the Phantods were amazing. I was very impressed with them.

    Fitz & the Tantrums

by AR999 on 2/2/11Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Wow. Fitz (is that actually his name?) puts on one hell of a show. He's a combo of David Byrne and Daryl Hall pumped on caffeine. Great voice and stage presence. Their songs are melodic without sounding the same. Too bad Newport's sound system was lacking Monday....or maybe it was just their sound guy. In any case.....they rocked the house!!

    Best Event of the Year!

by ClaireB on 2/2/11Newport Music Hall - Columbus

It may have only been 31 days into 2011, but this was the best concert of the year. The opener (Phantods) was pitch perfect, hitting every song note great. Fitz and the Tantrums came out and it was like they were there to party. They brought their A-game to Ohio! They seemed so humbled by the sold out show, bringing out their own cameras to take pictures of the crowd repeatedly. The encore with "Money Grabber" was one of the most fun times I have ever had at a concert. AMAZING SHOW!

    Welcome to Boston

by SeldomSeenKid on 1/22/11Brighton Music Hall - Boston

What a way to kick off their initial visit to the Hub, and a great way to continue to break in the Brighton, Fitz & the Tantrums rocked the house....The opening act Jordan Valentine and the Sunday Saints started the night off nice with a great performance, they're a local act and I wish them well and great success. The night continued to get better with Fitz & the Tantrums taking the stage, these guys can play ; I've always been fond of the brass; and that guy was on, and the band sounded tight. Fitz and Noelle fronted the band with tremendous energy, its too bad we didn't get the full effect of Noelles' voice, she was battling laryngitis, still they sounded great; Fitz was really giving it his all. The crowd was great and really showed appreciation for them and the band for us; they sang their album, mixed in a cover and a couple songs old and new, the chants of "one more song" led to a impromptu encore, where they sang a newly minted song..... At the end of the show they announced they would like to meet everyone that came out, so they had a informal meet and greet at the back, giving out autographs as well.... Overall experience excellent.....
