About

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

"Fitz And The Tantrums put on a great concert!!! The setlist was awesome and the crowd was singing and dancing with the band!!!"

"Loved this concert. They were so good -- all their music is so distinct. Excellent musicianship all the way around and TONS of energy."

The whole concert is so high energy, I was dancing the whole time with much of the crowd. They seem like genuine people as well - really appreciative of the fans."

  • One of the best live bands I've ever seen.

    by Carrera4 on 11/3/11Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I've been playing music and following the live music scene for more than 25 years, and this is absolutely one of the best live acts to come along in a LOOOONG time, regardless of genre. Musicianship, songwriting, stage presence, sheer entertainment and a unique sound all wrapped in one package. You don't need to know anything about this band before you go to see them because after the first song you'll be hooked and off on a musical dance journey you won't soon forget.

  • Fitz & the Tantrums are a fire playing live!

by Rodona on 11/1/11Center Stage Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz and the Tantrums are definitely one of those bands you need to see live. They are an explosive combination of soul, pop, swing and beat. I liked their record but loved them more on stage!

  • Absolutely Love Fitz & the Tantrums!!!

by AlsoRan on 11/1/11Center Stage Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

They sang, they danced, they talked to the audience like we were at an intimate party. I liked them before, but Fitz and the Tantrums won my heart (and a lot of other Atlantan's hearts) heart this past Saturday night. They are one of the few groups that are genuinely talented and are even better in person than their recordings and televised appearances. And coming out to meet the fans after the concert sealed the deal. Hopelessly in love with Fitz & the Tantrums.

  • INCREDIBLE!!!!!

by Anonymous on 10/31/11Center Stage Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Show was amazing! Once in a lifetime show! Walk the moon opened, and was amazing. They really got the crowd going, and did a cover of Fleet Foxes White Winter Hymnal which blew our minds. Fitz and the Tantrums were out of this world. Band is so talented and TIGHT. Every song was filled with energy, passion, and soul. MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE!!!

  • Fitz & the Tantrums were phenomenal!!

by SamHol on 10/31/11Center Stage Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The Center Stage is a great place to see a show intimately. Fitz and the Tantrums were great! They even signed autographs and did a meet and greet after the show.

by Fitzshowreview on 10/31/11Center Stage Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Great energy and show from the band. Always love seeing shows at the centre stage. The sound man completely ruined the sax player's front of house mix. Could not here the sax at all in the mix. He also completely missed the mark with the drummer's toms. Couldn't hear them either.

  • See Fitz!

If you have the opportunity to check out this band you will not be disappointed. The only thing I would say is, as a new band, they are working on beefing up their material to support a "whole" show. They played for one hour and then came back for about a 20 minute encore. Two covers were included in the show. At some point, they'll be at 1-1/2 on their own and then come back and play a 15-20 encore. Nevertheless, great music, energy, fun sound and the price is right. I paid $24 for each ticket. Good time without going broke on concert tickets. Check 'em out while they are still reasonable.

Fantastic high-energy Halloween show. Fitz and the Tantrums put on a great lively show for the fans and the band seemed to love it too. I'll definitely be getting tickets for their next trip into town.

High energy, upbeat and involved with the audience. Couldn't ask for much more from a band in concert. Their music is tremendous and it plays well live!

by MissHandled on 7/25/11The Music Box - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Fitz & the Tantrums put on a great show in front of a home town crowd. The show was upbeat and entertaining throughout. Great covers of TheRaconteurs and Eurythmics. Graffiti 6 was also very good taking a bold step performing acoustically .

  • Great energy and atmosphere!

    by 1shebop on 7/25/11The Music Box - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show! Such a talented and humble band. It was great to be in a sold-out crowd with people having fun - just light - shake your butt fun!

  • by Anonymous on 7/24/11The Music Box - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

So I went to this show and was quite pleased overall. Harlan, the first act was great to start with. On the other hand I did not like Graffiti6 whatsoever, it just didn't fit into this kind of show. Then came Fitz. The energy on stage and performance as a whole is why they get 5 stars. Vocals were incredible as are on the record and the dancing on stage was great! I left a bit early due to not feeling well toward the end but heard all my favorites and overall was an amazing show! SEE THEM FOR YOURSELF AND SUPPORT ONE OF THE BEST NEW BANDS OUT THERE!

So glad I saw them live at The Music Box. Saw them perform on Last Call with Carson Daly and was sold. But seeing them live was so awesome, they sound fantastic live!, they are the real deal, I truly am sold, a fan for live!!! Love that they are so humble and came out to meet and greet and sign autograph.
