About

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

  • Awesome show and venue!

    by KTBX on 11/13/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I recently saw Fitz and the Tantrums on Live from Daryl's House. I've been hooked since. Their live show is filled with soul and energy. They're the type of group that appeals to a broad range of ages and backgrounds. It's the kind of music to bring people together. The opening acts were amazing too, particularly Walk the Moon. They're the perfect opening act for Fitz and the Tantrums. Their energy was a perfect warm-up for the crowd. Terminal 5 is a great venue. There's not a bad seat (though there are no seats) in the house.

  • Fitz and the Tantrums are a must see!

One of the best concerts I've been too. The venue is a great deal and awesome location. I would definitely return.

  • Went for Walk the Moon...

    by ChristopherAustralia on 11/13/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

... but Fitz & the Trantrums ROCKED. Both Walk the Moon and F&tT kept you up on your feet and dancing all night. As an Australian we don't get the luxury of these breakout bands on the verge of amazing success. I got on a 2:45pm train from Connecticut to the big Apple and 4 hours later I'm rocking out to two of the best and lively bands u have ever seen. I am actually thinking about purchasing tickets for their show in Philadelphia. If given the chance you totally need to see these bands you won't regret it.

An amazing show with an up-and-coming group that has a great funky Motown sound with two great singers that bring soul to the music. Artists were top notch and made for a memorable evening & money well spent.

  • Amazing, but...

    by Gypsyeyes79 on 11/11/11Chameleon Club - LancasterRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz & The Tantrums were amazing, but with a 7pm door time and not getting to the stage until after 9:30p was a bit annoying. Way too long of a change over period for a small venue and a lesser known band.

  • Great Show!

by FATTFan on 11/7/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

I was already a Fitz & The Tantrums fan and was eagerly awaiting this show. FATT did not disappoint! They played a great show at The National. The band's combination of blue-eyed soul, pop and funk had everyone dancing from the first song. Their meet & greet after the show was a terrific added bonus. Opener Walk the Moon really got the crowd going and played a great set. Will definitely check them out further.

  • Fitz & the Tantrums, BEST CONCERT EVER!

by APSOJA on 11/7/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Probably the best concert I've ever been to. Fitz & the Tantrums were fantastic. They had so much passion and were having just as much fun on stage as we were having in the audience. Got a chance to meet them afterwards as well (signed my ticket and got a picture with me). Overall amazing concert that is definitely worth your time!!

Great show! Venue not my favorite - could they spare a few dollars for some high tops and chairs?

  • Fitz is worth the discovery

by Fitzandthetantrums on 11/4/11State Theatre - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5

This is a great up and coming group of musical artists. Their music is fresh and upbeat. Everyone in the theatre was up and dancing. The opening act, Walk the Moon was also a pleasant surprise and worth checking out. They have a future.
