FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

  • Little Hurricane Were Amazing!!!

by namesucks on 5/28/13Tom McCall Waterfront Park - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Little Hurricane stole the show! Fitz & the Tantrums are great, don't get me wrong, but Little Hurricane are truly a force to be reckoned with. As one person next to me said, "They are White Stripes on steroids!"

  • Awesome

Fitz and the Tantrums were great. Great show that got you movin' and groovin'. Only bad was on me. Didn't realize that at this venue, you had to bring your own chairs. It didn't matter once Fitz came on, but would have liked one for the warmups and in between.

Show was great!!! The band has SO much energy on stage and really shared it with the crowd! The sound was great! The songs were great! The performance was great! It was my first live show of theirs, and I cannot wait to see them again!!

  • FATT WAS THE BEST EVER!!!

by GerryT on 9/26/12The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We've gone to many concerts over the years and Saturday's show at the Paramount in Huntington staring Fitz & The Tantrums ranks up there as either the top 1 or 2. They had the crowd moving from the first note to the last. They are a band not to be missed; can't wait to see them again and again!

  • A quality show and band!

by SparklesofHeart on 9/25/12The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed the show with its high energy and great music and lyrics. Fitz is very real and has such a great voice--on the level of Darryl Hall. He is a real character. The female singer is full of incredible energy. She danced full bore the entire night and sang the same way. There were people of all ages there, which is surprising only because this group is not from our older generations. But it just goes to show they are the real deal. I'd go see them again, but this time with my daughter who turned us on to them. I'm STILL singing along with them!!! Great Dance Music and the Paramount lets you go down to the floor so you can do just that!!

  • Fantastic - can't wait for their new album

by GinnVelvet on 9/24/12The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This is a truly amazing group, even better live than recorded. Fitz has an GREAT voice is is very generous about sharing the stage with his accompanying singer. It is so nice to see they they ROCKED the house and got great audience feedback! Very cool to see a very broad range of people attending in terms of generational cross-pollination! Super, super concert. I'd see them again in a heartbeat!

well worth the 90 minute ride to the Paramount. If you live on LI it's a must see. If you live off LI it's worth the ride. Really special and a lot of fun.

Great venue. Fitz was amazing, a must see. I have seen them three times and they put on a great show...great to bring friends to and dance...a lot. Support these guys, they love what they do and you will too

  • Fitz & the Tantrums were amazing!

by Musiclovingchef on 9/23/12The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely amazing! The chemistry on stage between Fitz & Noelle is mesmerizing! They started with "Don't Gotta Work it Out", covered the Racounters "Steady as She Goes" (possibly my favorite moment) and ended with their encore of their version of the Eurthymics "Sweet Dreams" (incredible) and finally "MoneyGrabber". My only criticism is, there was so much energy throughout the entire show, that there was little left for the final song. I will definitely see them again!

  • Fitz is worth seeing everytime you can.

I spend more time than I should going to concerts, traveling for concerts, learning about new musicians etc. I love music, live music, all of it. I have now seen Fitz 4 times, 3 of their own concerts and one festival where they were the headliner. I also had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with Fitz himself, twice, and he's quite humble. Regardless, this is not a mainstream indie rock band...not that I don't love more than my share of bands in that genre. But Fitz and the Tantrums provides quite an extreme uniqueness that is rarely seen... so much retro is shown in their bands sounds, the bands aesthetic and presentation and even through their concert wardrobe. But in addition, what makes them stand out, is their ability to draw a crowd with their music and lyrics and especially their stage presence, which ultimately creates true fans ranging from at least 18 to 40 or older. This is quite a feat in my opinion. I am 30 and I appreciate true music artists, song writers, artists who believe in their songs and it's so evident from their performance that it is difficult to not to want to jump on the stage and sing with them, just because they not only provide passionate music, but to deliver with an entire higher level of passion, belief, emotions and just sheer love for what they are doing and loving their ability to share it with others. How greatful I am to have experienced this, beyond any limits, a band that never holds back and a band that not only loves but truly feels the lyrics and power of their own songs while performing as much as I do. I can feel excited and sync right in with this band just when simply listening to their CD on the way home from work. So, if you can see them live.. do it, as it will be your loss if you don't. Nothing makes someone feel better than seeing an amazing artistic and entertaining performance by any band, yet alone, a band you have listened to and connected to. Music touches us all, maybe more for some than others. For myself, nothing touches me more..every emotion, every situation. What would the world be like without amazing artists and their music; we are only so fortunate to have it shared with us. Thank you.

This was an absolutely incredible concert, from the openers to the main event...FITZ! The venue was really nice and the employees were very friendly. Very cool outdoor amphitheater.

The venue was fantastic and the band absolutely killed it! The energy these guys come out with is amazing!

  • Fitz was sick!!!

by DerickY on 6/18/12Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

This was the second time I have seen Fitz & The Tantrums. The first time was in a rain soaked Nashville concert where they still rocked out, but I was blown away by the performance in Columbus. The Pavillion was sweet and and I couldn't have imagined a better time. I highly recommend fitz and lc Pavillion to anyone who is interested!

  • Excellent Fitz & the Tantrums!

by AmyPG on 6/18/12Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

High energy show. Even though this was the end of this leg of their tour, Fitz, Noelle & the band delivered a fabulous performance and even shared a new song from their upcoming album.

  • Pure hotness

by GabrielleinCbus on 6/18/12Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

This is a band that is not only completely on their game musically, but they have that thing that sets great acts apart from good. They are pure magic and sexuality on stage as well as blowing your face off with brillant music that is pure refreshment. They thanked the Columbus crowd and the staff at CD 101 for our support of their album very graciously, but I think it was us who were the lucky ones to discover this brilliant gem among heaps and heaps of garbage. Each member of the band brings it and then some.

  • Always Great!

This band knows how to perform!! My friend had never heard their music before and left loving them! (and kept commenting during the show of how great and fun they were) Cannot wait for a new album and new tour!
