About

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

"Fitz And The Tantrums put on a great concert!!! The setlist was awesome and the crowd was singing and dancing with the band!!!"

"Loved this concert. They were so good -- all their music is so distinct. Excellent musicianship all the way around and TONS of energy."

The whole concert is so high energy, I was dancing the whole time with much of the crowd. They seem like genuine people as well - really appreciative of the fans."

  • Disappointed

by Kenindfw on 7/16/13House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

I was looking forward to seeing Fitz and the Tantrums. I loved their first album. I admittedly haven't been crazy about the second - but went with an open mind. My main disappointment really has nothing to do with the band itself. I'm sure they probably could sound quite good. We were sitting in the balcony and the sound level was about two decibels below the threshold of pain. Terrible mix by the sound guy. During the louder sections of songs you couldn't make out the words. My wife (who is not familar with the songs like i am) couldn't make out most of the lyrics.I don't know what it sounded like on the ground level, but it was pretty much a mass of noise in the balcony. Louder does not equal better. The second issue I had was the guy in front of us who decided after the second song that everyone behind him should stand. We couldn't see a thing. If he wanted to stand the whole show he should have gotten tickets down stairs. I specificlly bought tickets in the balcony to avoid standing.

  • Fitz was AWESOME!

  • Soulfull performance, with a weak crowd.

by Tonyyyyyy on 7/13/13Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

These guys were awesome live. I really enjoyed seeing them. The only problem was that the audience was pretty dull, they were even getting upset that I was bumping into them as me and my friends were dancing.... beware.

  • Fitz delivers again

  • Unforgettable experience!!!!!!!!

by MissABWaz on 7/4/13Irving Plaza powered by Klipsch - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I'll admit it; I only knew FATT's singles when I purchased the tickets and I only knew them when I went to the show. That did not matter though. As soon as the band entered, an overwhelming energy generated off of each member as Fitz and Noelle began to sing. By the end of the night I was hooked on FATT. Before the show, I enjoyed their music, but after watching and experiencing the passion they have for what they do, I'm head over heels. Moral of the story, if someone comes up to you and says "hey, I have an extra ticket for Fitz and the Tantrums, wanna come?" do not hesitate to accept the offer! I cannot find the right words to describe the amazing concert; it's something you have to see first hand.

  • Fitz and the tantrums did it again.

    by Elmo315 on 7/1/13Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Saw them for the first time 7/4/12 at red rocks ampitheatre and was psyched to see they would be playing at my favorite boston venue (the paradise). They blew that place away. A band that is better live than recorded is the kind of band you need to see.

  • Absolutely amazing

by MAHGRET on 6/30/13Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

FItz and the Tantrums were unforgettably fantastic! High energy, so fun, and the small venue made the show feel intimate. I honestly never wanted it to end. Best live show I've ever seen and they even hung around for a bit after to sign things and take pictures with fans. Wish I could relive this night.

Fitz and the Tantrums are true musicians and performers... Amazing show! Ivy Levan was a fantastic opener. They're both must-sees! All hail Fitz!

  • Fitz and the Tantrums killed it!!

by BlueMoonHoneyBee on 6/30/13Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Such a great band to see in a smaller venue. I saw them open for Bruno Mara at the Garden and they were great there. But they absolutely killed it at the Paradise.

  • by Fonzy83 on 6/30/13Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show, particularly due to the small size of the venue allowing for much more close proximity to artists. I got there a half hour before the show started and was right behind the front row. First band, Ivy Levan, was a decent band with a great (and sexy!) vocalists, though they were a little off-putting with the ski masks that they wore. the next band, Haerts, had a good sound and strong talent, though weren't as high energy as was needed to transition to the headliner. My only complaint possible for FATT is that they didn't play long enough! Such a high energy, electrifying show. I've wanted to see the. For so long and they did not disappoint. Even played Fools Gold for the first time live! All in all, this is a great act that played at a great venue, and I'm sure they won't be doing too many more shows at such small venues in the future.

  • Fritz and the tantrums were a blast!

by FitzFun on 6/30/13Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Fitz and the tantrums were awesome. They really interacted with the audience and had the crowd going crazy all night. They really put up a great show. I also loves that the venue was small because it felt more personal.

  • Best live concert in 10 years!

by MegaFitzFan on 6/30/13Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Support acts were totally rubbish, especially Haerts who thought we all needed to relive the worst part of the 1980s. Fitz and the gang were unbelievable! Awesome to see them in such a small venue. Whole band was so tight and.had so much energy.

  • Fitz and the Tantrums definite "must see"!

by Chuddie on 6/30/13Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent band to see at a smaller venue like The Paradise Club. Fun from opening song to last encore!

  • unbelievable energy

by SnowBlack on 6/22/13Saint Andrews Hall - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

This may be one of the hardest working bands out there right now - headlining club shows on their days off from opening on major arena tours! I can't believe how much energy they had onstage considering they're playing 5 - 7 shows per week! They danced, they sang, they kept the audience moving and engaged the entire show. With a good mix of older songs & songs off the brand new album, everyone seemed happy with the setlist. I left feeling energized & a bit like I'd just left a workout class. :^) GREAT live band, would see them again & recommend them to anyone who likes a good live show!

  • Good show, once it got started

by ashleyestevens on 5/29/13Tom McCall Waterfront Park - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Little disappointed that Fitz and the T's didn't take the stage until 10pm...I live forty five minutes away and had I known there would've been three other bands in front of them I wouldn't have gotten there so early...all in all they were AMAZING and super high energy. Can't wait to see them again!!
