About

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

Both Capitol Cities and Fitz and Tantrums were great high energy performances. I loved how intimate the National was; it made me feel so close to the performers and they were very interactive with us. I kind of wish the set up time in between sets was shorter, but otherwise, I had an absolute blast at this show!

Fitz and the Tantrums were excellant as expected however a surprising show by Capitol Cities was very exciting. Even though we had seats in the balcony, we stood and danced most of the time.

  • Fantastic Show

  • Absolutely AMAZING

I've been to plenty of concerts throughout my life and Capital Cities/Fitz and the Tantrums is definitely top 3 of my all time favorites. The opening act, Beat Club, was even amazing! Capital Cities had awesome sunglasses with cool designs for a backdrop, they were SO much fun, and they sounded great. We had a dance party and swung clothes around in the air. Fitz and the Tantrums was just downright amazing, though. Noelle Scaggs has the most beautiful voice in the entire world! They played new and old songs and made us get down on the floor and jump up to TONS of beautiful confetti. If I could see this concert every night I would never get bored! If you miss it I feel sorry for you.

  • Absolutely one of the best concerts Ive ever seen!

by Cmull on 10/23/13The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

I had high hopes going into this concert and Capital Cities and Fitz and the Tantrums did not disappoint. Capital Cities opened with an extremely high energy set and completely created the mood for the rest of the night. I had come to the concert to see mainly see Fitz but Capital Cities was really great. Now on to the headliner, Fitz and the Tantrums were just absolutely amazing. They played every song I had wanted to hear, kept the audience involved and I just couldnt stop dancing the entire night. They also sounded even better in person. Overall, this concert was a huge success and Id absolutely travel a long ways to see them again. Dont miss this great show if they come to your city!!!

Capital Cities is an amazing band to watch live. They have a great interaction with the crowd and really capture the audience's attention. Would see them again live without a doubt!

My brother and I both agreed, this concert was, by far, the best we had seen at the Cosmo yet! It was very energetic and interactive. We really loved that when the concert was over, they posted a picture of the crowd and we could see ourselves!

  • Fitz and the Tantrums were incredible

Loved this show, it's so good to see them getting the recognition they deserve! Also really like the new cd, the whole thing is great! Other than the heat, the Cosmo pool venue was perfect.

I had heard that this band was amazing live, but I did not know how true it was until I witnessed it for myself. The best part of the show is the energy. The interplay between the vocalists Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs was fun to watch and their energy and enthusiasm (along with the rest of the ensemble) keep the crowd moving.. If you have the chance, see this band live. Better yet, if they are performing at a venue that has a pool that you can stick your feet in and enjoy the sound...even better!

  • Ouch

by EZBaby on 8/1/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 1 out of 5

We are big fans of concerts, spending lots of our hard-earned money to attend several events a year. In the last few years we decided to try to find new artists. We've seen The Rolling Stones 5 times in our lifetime and their last trip through town with tickets at $600 a pop: Forget about it. We have enjoyed seeing Fitz and the Tantrums previously after discovering them on the television show "Live From Daryl's House." We were excited when we were able to get perfect seats at The Wiltern months ago. Plus with the show being on a Saturday night, no work the next day. Our tickets said 7:30, which we know means "doors open" at 7:30. At about 8:30 an awful band kicked off the night. (Hey dudes, just because you you can crank it to "11" doesn't mean you have to.) People were running to the lobby to protect their ears from bleeding. The second group cut t the audio level almost in half and were O.K. Finally, at about 10:00 we were looking at an empty stage with a roadie pounding on a snare drum. Don't you do sound checks in the afternoon? Anyway after 10 minutes of this crap, my wife and I had had enough. Never saw the headliners. What a waste of time and money. Worst concert experience ever!!

  • Fritz and group were great!!!

Surprisingly was seated in ADA seats; what a god send! View was amazing as well as no need to take horrendous stairs! I could have danced all night; which I did!

  • Fitz and the Tantrums

I have been wanting to see Fitz and the Tantrums for a long time now and let me tell you, they are worth the wait! They put such effort into their show, which lasted much longer than expected, and the end product is perfect. Their live music sounds as polished and enthusiastic as if recorded, and the energy was fantastic. I'd recommend getting tickets somewhere that allows for a dance party, because you're going to want one.
