FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

"Fitz And The Tantrums put on a great concert!!! The setlist was awesome and the crowd was singing and dancing with the band!!!"

"Loved this concert. They were so good -- all their music is so distinct. Excellent musicianship all the way around and TONS of energy."

The whole concert is so high energy, I was dancing the whole time with much of the crowd. They seem like genuine people as well - really appreciative of the fans."

  • OUTSTANDING SHOW BY FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS

by LOOPDEE on 11/4/13The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

FANTASTIC SHOW BY CAPITAL CITIES AND FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS. FIRST BAND WAS NOT ON THE MARQUEE, OR LISTED ON THE SITE WHEN I PURCHASED TICKETS, BEAT CLUB. I SUFFERED THROUGH THEIR MUSIC. ALL BANDS SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED.

  • Capital Cities Are Awesome As Always

    by LoveGoodMusic100000 on 11/4/13The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Capital Cities in Philly both the other times they were in Philly this year, and they did not disappoint again. They have a very fun and positive vibe, they always have a lot of fun on stage - dancing around, and always have awesome songs. The venue was pretty packed by the end, but there was still plenty of room to move and dance around. We liked the other two bands too, but Fitz & Tantrums came on stage so late and our feet were killing us by that point, so we left halfway through their act. But we really came to see Capital Cities, so it was totally worth it!

  • Elec Fact sux ...

by JerseyJoes on 11/4/13The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 1 out of 5

Show started 830 w forgettable garage band. There was a long time between sets. Cap cities was great. Fitz was wooden. Should have been Fitz on first and Cap Cities after and no opener, as everyone dances and enjoys Cap Cities. Elec Fact suxs. 20 bucks for lousy parking, no place to sit for a 4-5 hr concerts, and long time between sets so you can pay for overpriced drinks. AND .. there was a lot of people bumping one another etc because of a drunk and bored crowd. If I never go to Elec fact it'll be too soon. No to mention you get colon searched by their lousy security before you come in, but the security is no where to be found when fights are about the break out. This should have been a great concert but it sucked

  • Great band, awful venue

by NoNameSS on 11/4/13The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

Opening act Beat Club was rather boring, but 2nd act Capitol Cities more than made up for it with a surprisingly fun set. They engaged the crowd nicely, and properly warmed us up for Fitz and the Tantrums, who delivered an energetic and well-performed show, as expected. As always, my complaint at the Electric Factory always lies within the venue itself. The sound is terrible. In 99% of the space, it's muddled and vocals are unintelligible. I try to be selective of the bands I see there, but having missed Fitz on their two previous stops in Philly this year, I made an exception, only to be reminded of why I never try for shows at EF. Lesson learned, until next time..,,

Capital cities rocked the electric factory I didn't even bother to stay for Fitz. They couldn't compare to how well capital cities did.

  • Fitz blew the roof out and off

Beat club was a fantastic opener for what was to the best concert I have attended yet. Capitol Cities and Fitz and the Tantrums combined fun and lively pop with their phenomenal instrumental and vocal underpinnings. Overall a great time and fun dancing.

  • Fantastic show!

  • Absolutely Awesome, A Must Attend Show

by DirtRentworth on 11/2/13Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen hundreds of concerts over 30 years and rank this show in the top 5. The Boss, Gabriel, Talking Heads and Offspring would be in the running too. The big sound of this band is absolutely explosive as the song Spark goes. They really know how to get a crowd fired up!! The dynamic vocal duo of Fitz and Noelle Scaggs is infectious. That girl can belt it out and move! She should have a license for those guns she has for arms! I got turned on to this band just 4 weeks ago while having cocktails at a friends house. They had them playing in the background. The sound was so amazing I had to ask….who is this band? You tube them for a sampling. A MUST SEE SHOW. How many bands have a Baritone Sax mounted at the front of the stage? Alternative big beat soul Capital Cities was amazing as well. Great stage prescence as well.

  • Amazing show!!!

Amazing concert!!! One of the best I've ever been to in my entire life! All three acts were outstanding! Talent phenomenal! Outstanding energy all the way around!!! Love, love, love!

  • Capital Cities Should Headline

by VolvoBug on 10/31/13The Dome at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

First time to this venue, it is an intimate way to see a band, and LOUD! Capital Cities had the most energy out of almost all the bands I have seen live this year (15+ shows & Coachella & Bonnaroo). I have never been a part of a crowd that was so into a show, dancing and having a great time at the end. At the end of their set they put down their instruments, a remix of their songs was blasting over the speakers and they just danced around with the crowd while still on stage. It was the most fun I have had at a concert. They really engaged the crowd in a fun and energetic way. Fitz was a good show, they have energy on stage, but they just didn't get the crowd going back to the levels that Capital Cities did. Totally would catch this show again! Certainly coming back to this venue as well.

  • Fitz: Great , CapCities: Needs time to mature

by 1000yearsold on 10/31/13House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed the first half of Capital Cities show. Their album is great and I was enjoying their performance. Then I started to notice things that bothered me. The lead singer Ryan often was wearing a guitar that he really wasn't playing (he just had it on as a prop.) Sebu (the keyboard player) wasn't actually playing most of the keyboard parts...he just stood next to the keys and occasionally touched a knob or pressed a few keys, but the music was playing on without him. I started to wonder how much of what I was hearing was being performed live. During "Farrah Fawcett Hair" and then again at the end, I got my answer. Most of what was played was just a recording of the original record. When they played "Safe and Sound" it was great and everyone went nuts. Then they dropped all their instruments and microphones and "played" a remix version and danced around. Funny that the music and the singing (without mics) sounded just the same. FAKE! I was very disappointed. (One last suggestion that would be awesome: Arrange to have a local famous voice - TV news guy or radio DJ - do a live voiceover for Farrah Fawcett Hair. That would be so cool and would show a great deal of connection to the local market.) Fitz and the Tantrums were much more real. They played an energetic show that was very much a crowd-pleaser. Fitz is like a combination of Will Farrell and Fred Schneider from the B-52s. He doesn't always seem to be that emotionally attached to the songs, but I think that's just his personality. His thank you's at the end seemed very sincere. I will definitely see Fitz again, but I'm not so sure I would rush out to see Capital Cities.

  • Fitz & The Tantrums a must see!!

Amazing Band, Amazing Show!! Anyone who hasn't seen them live should be sure to do so. We saw them on our daughter's recommendation, after she attended The Made in America Festival this summer. can't wait until they are back in town!!!!

  • More than just a dream.

by Anonymous on 10/30/13State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz & the Tantrums are best heard LIVE. I thought I loved their sound on their albums (Pickin' Up The Pieces, More Than Just A Dream) and I still do. If you are a fan of FATT, you NEED to see them live. They were engaging and committed through the entire show. Noelle's energy alone made it PHENOMENAL. I don't know how she does it, bu she did not stop moving for the entire set. The opening act, Beat Club, did a great job getting the crowd warmed up. Great sound from these guys. Can't wait for their CD to drop.
