FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:
Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals, backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

Paid extra for Meet and Greet. Promised spot in 1st 10 rows. It was standing room only. Let in early to get to the front. Only to have to leave my spot to do a 3 second photo op after the opening act. Could not get back to my front row spot to see the band. They did not reserve space for VIP meet and greet group. Could barely see band from the back of the room. Not worth the extra expense! Disappointing!
This was the fourth time seeing Fitz and The Tantrums locally and they were every bit as fantastic this time as they were the previous times. They are by far one of my favorite bands! Their live shows are always super high energy, with lots of dancing, singing, and general crowd interaction. I can't wait for them to return again soon!
Fitz and the tantrums did not disappoint. They brought the energy and fired up the crowd. Great lights and visual effects. This was my first time at the Sylvee and I loved it. Venue is small enough such that every seat has a good view. Good beer selection.
High Energy and lovely fans to enjoy the show with. The venue was amazing. Grand Rapids is a cool city.
I like their music, but I'm always skeptical of how a live performance will come off. I don't go to many concerts and with this one I was super impressed. They were high energy and the music sounds great. The Sylvee provides a fantastic environment for the feel of a big show. I even enjoyed the opening band, Twin XL, which I really never expect. Thanks for a great time!
This was my first time seeing Fitz and I was not disappointed. The Sylvee was a good venue - if I had GA I would definitely go straight to the balcony and get a spot standing against the rail. I had reserved seats and was surprised how cramped they were given how new the venue is.
It was everything and more. The venue was awesome and super organized, the band was extremely high energy and fun to watch. I left with a happy heart.
The Sylvee is a fantastic venue to see a show. Great sight lines, fast bar service and a lot of bathrooms!
Really fun show! Even my husband enjoyed himself and that's not his type of music. The Sylvee is a great venue, easy in and out, great drink prices, courteous staff.

I really enjoyed the balance of old and new songs. I know more of their old songs than new, so I was happy to get to hear them again. Bass was very loud, but I think that was a theater quality.
Concert was great! They put on a good show, high energy. Also, good concert if you are looking for something to bring a kid as a first concert. Lots of fun
Great show - I've wanted to see Fitz and the Tantrums for a long time and they didn't disappoint! I wasn't aware of the new album - "All the Feels" that came out last year, and hadn't heard any of the songs on the radio - that really surprised me as the songs are very good. I will definitely see them again. Twin XL was a pleasant surprise and the lead singer has a wry sense of humor based on some of the comments he made, especially the one about the song they were about to play being a new song. Of course, he said, "I'm sure these are all new songs to most of you".
Awesome experience!! Fitz sounded just like their album and the voice was spot on for everyone. The saxophonist was excellent as well. Great locale for hearing everything. Could not have had a better experience except of course being in the first row.
Fitz played the perfect variety of both their old and new hits. The show ran very on time/according to schedule and the crowd was not overly rowdy (no pushing and shoving) which made for an even more enjoyable concert-going experience. The venue itself is one of my favorites (The Paramount in Huntington)--there isn't a bad seat in the whole place!

The Fitz show was great! Great for the entire family. He definitely made our hands clap. Noelle rocks boss lady. 10/10 would see again.
