About

FC Dallas History

FC Dallas are one of Major League Soccer’s original ten teams, launching in 1996 as the Dallas Burn before changing the name in 2004.The centerpiece of the Burn era was striker Jason Kreis, who was deemed the MLS scoring leader in 1999 with 18 goals and 15 assists. He won league MVP honors, the first American-born player to do so. In 2005, the freshly rebranded FC Dallas debuted in their new soccer-specific stadium in the city of Frisco and launched a three-year streak of playoff appearances, falling each time in the Western Conference semifinals. In 2010, FC Dallas played in their first MLS Cup Final, losing to the rival Colorado Rapids in overtime, 2–1. That same year, midfielder David Ferreira became the second member of Dallas FC to earn the league’s regular season MVP.

In 2016, FC Dallas went 17-8-9 and won their first Supporters' Shield for the league's best regular-season record, but was subsequently bounced out of the conference semifinals by the eventual champion Seattle Sounders. The team succeeded in adding another trophy to their case in 2016 after claiming their second U.S. Open Cup tournament victory.

FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium

FC Dallas have called Toyota Stadium their home pitch since 2005. The team played at the hometown Cotton Bowl until their 19,096-seat, soccer-specific facility in Frisco was completed. The stadium’s south end contains the National Soccer Hall of Fame, which reopened at its new location in 2018. On top of hosting events for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Leagues Cup and  2024 Copa América qualifiers, Toyota Stadium is also the annual site of the NCAA Division I Frisco Bowl football game.

FC Dallas Tied with two players down

by rugbygod25 on 7/12/09Pizza Hut Park - Frisco

FC Dallas was down early on in the game when the impressive Landon Donovan scored within the first ten minutes. Minutes went by and then Dallas was handed a red card putting them a player down. Dallas managed a goad late in the first half and held on to the tie despite losing another player to injury late in the second half.

    Effort

by Falerc on 7/10/09Pizza Hut Park - Frisco

Team effort was excellent! FC Dallas controled the ball most of the game. Mid field and back line shut the Red Bull down in the second half. You could tell that FC Dallas wanted to win this game and they got it done.

WOW!! What a night!!! FC Dallas played VERY well!! They were very aggressive and did a fantastic job at beating the Red Bulls. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, the fireworks after the game were absolutely incredible!!! Pizza Hut Park has totally out done everyone else in the Metroplex. I would highly recommend this event to anyone and I plan on attending this event again next year if FC Dallas plays on the 4th of July. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!! :)

    FC Dallas Game 7-4-09

by zontamaiden on 7/6/09Pizza Hut Park - Frisco

The game was fast paced and energetic. This was mostly because we were sitting pretty close to the pep band. I brought my mom and nephew to the game and they had a really great time. The temperature outside was very hot and we had to throw out our water bottles before entering the park. That is a negative- especially when it is so hot outside. As far as the fireworks show goes, it was very long and worth the wait; but the music could have been better. Also, fireworks kept shooting off at the end and no one really knew when it was over. It was confusing.

    Amazing Event

by TBon3 on 7/5/09Pizza Hut Park - Frisco

Pizza Hut park is conveniently located off the Tollway and getting to the soccer match was easy and suprisingly hassle free to get parked. There was free parking close to the stadium. Once inside, you really appreciate the stadium. Not a bad seat in the house..during the hot summer months..the South West side was cooler.. Even if you are not a soccer fan..there is plenty to do, eat, places to lounge around. I enjoyed the match and was lucky enough to see a 2-1 where FC Dallas won. I attended on the 4th of July and got to see an awesome fireworks show after the match, which was followed by a concert. The whole event was just amazing!
