Buffet and talk best part. If a fan, very exciting
If you only see one musical this needs to be it. I have never seen a more fun show. I loved every minute of it!
This play deserved better reviews. Cast was great. Music was fun and entertaining. Go see it before it closes.
Very enjoyable play with excellent music. The plot was light and some parts were cheesy, but the actors made it all believable. And to top it off, Jimmy Buffett appeared at the end to lead the audience in a sing along to 'Wasting Away in Margaritaville'. Would highly recommend as the day after we saw the play, it was announced that it was closing on August 1st.
Enjoyed this from the beginning to end. If you like Jimmy Buffet you will love this show. The cast is wonderful and totally likable and funny and talented and everything you want when you need an uplifting enjoyable time.
I had seen the story about the show being in the theater and have been a "parrot head" for some time. My partner was not and she found it to be delightful. This is just a feel good musical that let's you escape to the islands.
Great fun. Of about 20 Broadway plays we’ve seen, can’t recall one being this much fun.
it was a feel good play and i loved the colorful set, and the talented actors. would definitely recommend.
A must see if you love Jimmy Buffet. Very funny and great music.
I wasn't sure what to expect, and as we are both Parrot Heads and know all of Jimmy's songs by heart, we had high expectations. During the first 15 minutes I wasn't sure where it was going, but by the end of the First Act, we were hooked! If you are not a fan of Jimmy Buffett, you will not get all of the inside jokes and references to his songs; but still a fun show.
We ahd an awesome time. Whether you are a Jimmy Buffett fan or not it's a great show full of fun & entertainment.
I'm not a fan of Jimmy Buffet's music; however, I thoroughly enjoyed this musical. The actors did a fine job and the music was just right. I would recommend it to anyone in the area. I hope they take it on the road eventually.
Weather you're a Jimmy Buffet fan or not you're sure to enjoy this show. Set on a tropical island with lots of great, fun, upbeat music. The actors were all excellent and made it a fun evening.
We went there expecting it to be fun and with great music. It was all of that, and more. The more is, it was funny. Great lines and a lot of laugh-out-loud comedic turns. The cheeseburger scene, for instance, tore the audience up. The music is Buffett's best and we liked how the songs would be sung by different cast members and also several times multiple members doing individual parts of one song. A lot of the humor is inside jokes and lines from songs, but that works because the audience knows why they are there. We attended the matinee on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and the show ended, with the encore, of bringing in uniform Marines and Navy up on stage. The cast tore into "Margaritiville" accompanied by the servicepeople and all the rest of us. (See the photo below.) It was a great gesture to end what was a great play. Go see it. and sing along and laugh and enjoy yourselves.
Don't believe the critics...they wouldn't know a fun, entertaining show if it hit them over the head. From the moment it starts you can't help but be pulled into the story and wish you could be part of the cast. Then, after a few numbers, you actually are part of the cast as JD gives his rendition of a love song with a bit of a twist. The surprise ending brings it all to a fun-filled happy finish. Everyone should see this show even if you are not familiar with Jimmy Buffett, although it helps as the dialogue does include many references back to JB himself.
Cute musical, lively and bright. Great singers and great actors
Escape to Margaritaville was more than I expected. It was a fantastically fun and energetic show with the familiar music of Jimmy Buffett that we all know and love. The lyrics were changed to accompany the story line, but the tunes were classic. The actors were believable and engrossing, the jokes were funny as all get out and the music... well, the music... was everything you could hope for. Make sure to purchase your tropical drink at the tiki bar before heading into the show, because, as you know... it's 5 o'clock somewhere!
Great show, great ending. Surprise for the audience. I am a BIG fan of Jimmy Buffet and enjoyed the heck out of the music. I recommend this show to anyone who wants to leave the theater singing,
We had a great time Escaping to Margaritaville. The night of our show was rainy. To our great delight, the Marquis Theatre has a unique indoor area to wait for the doors of the play to open. We entered the lobby, went up the escalator and entered a new world. We were transported to Margaritaville. It was warm and dry and we could see the tropical bar area. The anticipation to enter this new world was palpable. The play - Escape to Margaritaville, was fantastic. The way Jimmy Buffett songs were woven into the script was brilliant. We can't wait to go back.
This was an OK show, particularly if you are a Buffet fan. The story is pretty weak, but cute. I don’t imagine it will be there too long based on the number of empty seats the night we were there.
