Excellent show.....for the most part.
by JazzCT55 on 5/13/18Marquis Theatre - New YorkEscape to Margaritaville is a well written production based on Jimmy Buffett's music and does not disappoint, as long as you are a fan of the music. Yes, someone who is not a fan would enjoy it, but may not understand some of the subtle nuances of the songs as they pertain to the storyline of the play. The production is excellent, as is expected for a lavish Broadway musical, but still plays to the parrotheads who attend the show in all their headwear and dress, with the final number involving a lot of beach balls dumped into the audience to bat around, as is done at a Buffett concert. The actors in the show are excellent as well, and fit the roles nicely. Will this show have staying power? Probably not, as there were several rows of empty seats at our performance after being open for only 2 months. I hope it does last, but the supply of parrotheads might not be enough to keep it going for more than a year.
