Erykah Badu, one of the world’s most revered singers, is widely credited as being the godmother of neo-soul. Badu’s blend of hip-hop swagger and smooth jazz draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, and has earned her a total of four Grammy nominations. Pitchfork described the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s 1997 debut album Baduizm as an “existential anchor of the neo-soul movement.” The triple-platinum album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and lead single “On & On” won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Badu’s enduring legacy was cemented on the road, where she has sung to sold-out crowds on multiple worldwide tours. The R&B legend has released five critically-acclaimed studio albums, and has been featured on hit songs by Busta Rhymes, Macy Gray and Janelle Monáe.

Great crowd, performance was outstanding, hyped crowd and pleasant atmosphere
The music and stage presentation was great! Show started an hour and a half later than scheduled in a mostly standing only wooden floor venue. Loved the venue but not the best experience standing for hours before they started.
Entry search too invasive. Woman went through the individual leaves of my wallet!!!!. Too long before show started, almost 2 hours, past scheduled time. Drinks excessively expensive. Show was excellent. Could use a height lift on stage to help out those of us, trying to peer over or between the 6 foot people standing in front of us (primary standing venue).
Erykah Badu is a rockstar. Her and the Alchemist album is going to be fire based on what was heard. Yet, I wish she would have at least played a few of her old joints for her die hard fans. I think most of us weren’t expecting a listening session of new music only. That would be my only criticism. If you like her as an artist and appreciate good music, go to the show.
Erykah Badu, The Alchemist, and everyone on that stage were absolutely amazing. The venue, House of Blues Orlando, is the worst venue I have ever been to. They pack people in there like sardines to make a few extra dollars. The show was sold out, doors were at 7, and show was supposed to be at 8. The venue knows very well that one hour is not enough time to get everyone inside before 8, therefore delaying the show even further. They have MULTIPLE things blocking views of the stage from many angles. There are wide columns blocking the stage and each column has a TV mounted on it that is even wider than the column, therefore completely blocking the view for some. There are no areas that are off limits to stand in, so there are people literally everywhere preventing you from walking to the bar, bathroom, or anywhere else you may want to go. You have to fight to get through a sea of people. It’s just a horrible venue and I have only ever went there for people I don’t want to miss. It’s also dirty.
Hands down one of the best hiphop shows I’ve been too and I hit a lot of shows and concerts. The new album she dropped was perfect! I loved her rap style and her energetic flow. I felt like I was attending an old school underground hip hop show in Philly or NYC. The Alchemist put on a good set with Erykah, an amazing duo!! Def see them again.
Concert started an hour late, seating was confusing. The sound echoed too much and made the music sound distorted. The DJ added echo to most of the music which initially sounded cool but it was too much and annoying for the entire show.
I can't wait to see her again the performance was amazing enjoyed all the special guest
Loved the vibe, music and energy! Great show! It was refreshing to hear some new music from her and the Alchemist was also terrific!! There was a wonderful surprise, as well!! Go to it, if you can!
Although it started an hour later than ticket time.......definitely worth every beat drop and note sang. The creativity is...other-worldy...and it was wonderful to just be with it all without having to look around cell phones in the air. The digital distraction...THANK YOU Ms. Badu, The Alchemist and the Cannabanoids! I cannot wait for the music to release and relive those moments again and again.
Besides the long line to get in. I thought Erykah performed superbly along with Al chemist. Can’t wait for the album to drop
Super excited to see Erykah Badu and The Alchemist!! The venue and performance of new music was a great experience that I’ll always remember! The only issue is that it took over an hour to get into the Fillmore. It was a peaceful process but I’ve attended shows at way bigger venues that was smoother than this. The talented artists were the main reason I didn’t just go home when I was waiting with other fans around the corner. Crazy experience but fun in the end.
Erykah Badu is so amazing. It was like finding yourself via her lyrics. She is an inspiration for anyone soul searching.
The no phone policy at the show was incredible. The experience de of a show where there aren’t a ton of screens in your face is night and day. Badu was amazing and the show felt so intimate without cellphones. I wish this was policy at more shows. The pouches were no inconvenience.
The show was Phenomenal! I appreciated that no phones were allowed. It created a presence for everyone to be one! In tuned! Really live in the new music! An album she and Al played for only the 5th time, live, before it’s released to the world! The mic was ON, the Cannabanoids (band) were LIVE, Alchemist was a FLAVA! Hip HOP! Erykah was the SUN! Superb! Set up was crazy too!
Absolutely stellar experience with a awesome crowd. Music was immaculate and Alchemist never misses on the beats.
Was super excited to see Erykah Badu, couldn't wait. Showed up and absolutely nothing happened for 2 hours straight, just music playing from speakers, not even a DJ. Mind you, this was on a Wednesday, I had to get to work early the next day, and the concert was supposed to start at 7pm. Stayed until 9:30 or so and then just had to leave since there were no announcements, there was no action of any kind on stage, and no explanation. Waste of my $200, extremely disappointed.
I have been trying to see Erykah live for over 20 years, and was thrilled to get a ticket to see her at a small general admission venue. I was not at all familiar with The Alchemist ( I guess this outs me as a less-than-hardcore hip hop fan). Unfortunately, it seems that their collaboration, while creating some cool moods, hasn't resulted in any songs worthy of Erykah's voice snd artistry. She is still a fantastic singer with beguiling stage presence and confidence. I am always excited to see a favorite artist when they are developing songs that are new to me, but Al's engaging beats and samples don't provide the other elements usually provided by Erykah's best collaborators, like melody and chord progressions. There was very little music from Badu's back catalog, with On & On lasting about two minutes. Additionally, my enjoyment was limited by a pretty bad house mix. Bass was comically exaggerated with Erykah's voice too often buried in the weeds.
This was a concert of deep connection. Erykah poured her beautiful soul put for us. No phones allowed added a lot to the experience.
I last saw Erykah Badu on her Mama’s Gun tour in 2001, and she has only gotten better with time. Her voice remains magnificent, and her lyrics are even more deep and biting. The vibe was mellow - everyone was too busy listening to her wisdom to be bothered with anything else. Not having cell phones definitely improved the experience. Everyone was in it together.
