Honestly, we came for the opener more than for Church. Charles Wesley Godwin was an amazing performer, and his set was definitely too short, especially because there was an almost hour-long gap between him leaving the stage and Eric Church coming onto the stage. Not to mention, Eric had a 20 minute long intro, and the intro had its own intro. I understand he has a theme going between his albums and concerts with some story he's trying to communicate, and I love a lot of his older songs, and I think his new album is definitely better in person than just listening to it in the car. He knows how to put on a show. But he is showing his age, and his most active part of the performance was just raising his guitar up while playing. I don't know who the lady was who sung along with him, but she needs to be headlining her own shows in the future, she was absolutely amazing, so much talent and such a great voice, good energy dynamic between the two of them as well. Unfortunately, because he started so late, we had to leave at 11:30 to get back to work the next morning, since this concert was on a Thursday for some reason. He was still rocking out playing some of his lesser known songs at that point, having already covered most of his hits. Honestly not a bad time at all, just the large break in between opening act and headliner made a lot of people confused and clearly frustrated, the entire row behind us left after waiting 40 minutes, and I don't really blame them for getting frustrated. I don't think the break was planned to be that long at all, because the people in the sound booth seemed to be coming up with songs to play kind of on the fly, and it got boring enough that people started doing the wave back and forth across the room, and cheering for any movement they saw on the stage from stage hands just hoping it was more music to come. Definitely glad I didn't pay more than $100 each for tickets, I can't imagine the people who spent $400 to be close to the front were the happiest with that choice considering most people wore hats that blocked their view. The choir and orchestra instruments were definitely an interesting spin on a country artist. CWG was 10/10, Church was a solid 7, the weird break clearly made people unhappy so id say not to bother with this concert tour if you aren't specifically interested in hearing his latest album.
Every song had its own light show that had to do with the song and it was beautiful
This guy has been on my bucket list for years! He finally came to Fresno and was by far the best concert EVER!! Sang for over 2 hours and his singers were amazing. If he ever comes back would do it all over. Such a gracious and generous person!
The concert was wonderful. The venue was fine easy in and easy out. He played for three hours. That was just so awesome. Couldn’t ask for a better venue. Can’t wait to see him again.
I am not a spring chicken but I am not elderly either. I was really looking forward to this concert as it has been on my bucket list for a long time and finally the opportunity arised and I purchased an expensive seat that was close and suitable for me. The opening band, Charles Wesley Godwin, was upbeat and great! Loved listening to him and can't wait for future songs from him. What I am displeased about is from the time the opening band got over with to when Eric Church started singing was way over an hour. I have never had to wait that long in between acts. I did not get out of the concert until 11:45 pm. Did something happen to make him late? Had no idea as nothing was said? Is he that kind of artist (which I didnt think so) that makes us wait because he can. I can honestly say I was very disappointed because as the night went on I was disinterested because I was getting tired - this concert was on a work night - not a weekend. Not for sure if I would spend good money again to go see him. Which is sad because I really enjoy his music.
Eric Church's Sacramento performance at Golden1 was amazing! I love how he blended his old with his new style. Seeing the full band get their dues was great too! And Joanna Cotton knows how to bring the house down! My suggestions for improvement are with Golden1 center. Firstly, I don't think you could have shoved one more chair in there, the seats are so narrow on the row and tight that you are right on top of the next person. Secondly, despite having 3 entrances, merch was only set up at the "main"entrance which makes for massive uncontrolled line that was slow and impacted the ability to navigate around it.
This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. 2 1/2 hours of great music with a full orchestra and 9 backup singers. Great graphics too. Worth every penny for the tickets.
The show was great, but after a far too long of an into he didn't go on until 9:30 on a Thursday. That is too late on a weeknight especially. But, the show was great and EC is very good.
Inconsiderate young individuals standing throughout the whole concert blocking everyone’s view in the seated section of 121. If a spectator prefers to stand, they should really purchase tickets on the floor. Nobody five rows behind the individuals standing could see the performance. We basically had to watch the video for the entire show. Because I purchased tickets that were close, it was truly a disappointment! The show overall was very good though. The music, vocals, and acoustics were fantastic!
