  • Eric & Rueben were great; Mint Cond - not so much

by Guisher on 8/12/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed Eric Benet and Reuben was a pleasant surprise, and also very good, but Mint Condition were -- Nuts! They need to stick to the West coast with that 'rolling on the floor' punk rock crap. Also, this has got to be my 10th time mentioning this but the folks that run DAR Constitution Hall need to understand that in a venue that size, there is no need to pump up the volume to full blast -- TURN THE VOLUME DOWN -- GEEZ!! It makes it impossible to enjoy the concert when the sound is up so loud that the words are muffled. When you can actually 'see the beat' yeah it might be time to crank the vloume down a bit. It was almost so bad that I am debating as to whether or not I should ever attend a concert event at that venue again. I absolutely love live music, but the deafening noise was THAT bad!

  • to loud

by eteressa on 8/12/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

R & B music should be played loud, could not hear what the artist was singing, Eric and Ruben was wonderful Mint condition was just to loud

  • Great Night of Music

by DaByrdman on 8/12/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Ruben Studdard opened the show with a fantastic set that proved once again why he is an "American Idol" winner. While his album sales may not show it, Ruben is a phenomenal live performer with a set that included tunes from his first two studio albums and new material from his forthcoming release. Ruben really rocked the house with an Isley Brothers/Luther Vandross medley before giving way to Eric Benet. Once again, Eric Benet did not disappoint though he did have a much smaller accompanying band and no additional background vocalists as in previous shows. Finally, Mint Condition closed the show proving why they are by definition a "real band" and why I've been a fan since 1991. Stokely is an extraordinarily talented lead vocalist, but he also showed amazing skill playing 2nd lead guitar behind Odell on one track and sitting in on drums for a powerful exchange that the band dubbed "Mint Condition Drummers 2.0". Of course, they closed the show with "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" and left everyone wanting more. This is a "must-see" show.

  • Eric is still the man

by Chazaray on 8/11/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Eric Benet, I've loved his music and always wondered what he sound like live. I thought he did a great job of giving some new music from the old CD's. Great job....

  • Mint Condition put it down

by DeliciousSpice on 8/11/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Rubin Studdard was excellant. He sang his original songs and gave a tribute to Luther Vangdross. Eric Benet wasn't as good as I had expected. He sang a few hit songs but all and all his performance was not so good. Mint Condition blew me away!! They were nothing but high enegry from start to finish. They are amazing.

  • Eric Benet and Ruben Studdard were outstanding!!!

by SeeMe on 8/11/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

My friend and I were very disappointed with "Mint Condition." We thought they were going to come out Classy and sing songs from the past, but they were trying to be this hard rock band that did not flow with Eric Benet and Ruben Studdard. They were not a good match for them..

  • RS, EB to MC--wonderfully talented men

    by Jay13 on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I gotta say, each person has the "IT" factor, meaning they can actually sing and entertain (star quality). No complains, set, stage issues, wardrobe malfunctions or time factors, etc...what great moments. All the music and sounds--from the host Jeff Gordon to the last act, Mint Condition, was evident/unmistakable!

  • ERIC BENET, MINT CONDITION

by MONIBRO on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was absolutely awesome! All the artists were outstanding. I didn't realize Eric Benet was so entertaining other than singing. He was comical especially after forgetting his own lyrics. Mint Condition has been my favorite band since I was in junior high school. This was my first experience and I loved every minute of it!

  • Eric Benet/Howard Hewett was Awesome

    by LadyTee1 on 8/10/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

The concert featuring Eric Benet and Howard Hewett was awesome. Howard Hewett's energy and interaction with the audience was on target and made for a very enteraining evening. Eric Benet's performance was sultry and amazing. Both performers put on an excellent show and I would see them again in a minute.

  • Ruben was awsome!!

by MKDiva on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great but I think Ruben stole the show. He was definitely awesome.

  • Eric Benet

by VPWoman on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Mint condition was very loud and no ballards were sung.Until the end someone asked for Pretty brown eyes. Eric Benet should have been the final act!!!!!!!

  • Event was a nice outting.......

    by biggo1117 on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

This was actually my second concert at The Constitution Hall. First concert was Anthony Hamilton, Muzic. Which was very nice. This concert was nice. My wife and I really enjoyed Rubin Studder. He really got the party started . Couldve listened to him the whole show. Eric Bennet was a let down. He sung very well however, his band to me did him no justice. He sung to a track in which he had no back up singers and the MD played the wrong tracks twice. Being a musician myself I really look forward to hearing good bands behind singers. Mint Condition was off the hook as always. My 3rd time seeing them. Love them and will see them any and every chance I get. I think they were a bit much for the crowd that was there though. Over all was a nice outting for me and my baby. A matter of fact any outting with my baby is a perfect one. :0)

  • Mint Condition was acting like a rock band

    by familyladylove38 on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I was terribly disappointed at the performance of Mint Condition and they are one of my favorite groups. Their rock impression left a lot to be desired. I just wanted to hear them sing not hear all that added stuff. Eric Benet performance overall was very nice. The only thing bad I would have to say was the fact that he forgot the words to "Spend My Life With You other than that I felt he gave a very nice performance. I would like to see him again but maybe with someone like Rachelle Ferrell or Regina Belle, or even Anita Baker.

  • Eric Benet - Mint Condition - Ruben Studdard

by deneZe on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I loved Eric Benet. He was fantastic. Mint Condition was out of their element. Their music was not appropriate for the crowd - too much guitar playing and screaming. I missed Rubin but I was told he was great as well. The order of performers was incorrect. Eric should have gone last.

  • Mint Condition is my favorite band.

by Bahblack on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

This show was very good but I left feeling a little cheated. It seemed that Mint Conditions set was cut short. Their repertoire of music should have earned them twice as long of a set as Eric Benet and/or Reuben Studdard. I was very surprised at the end when they said there time was up. Overall the show was good but that one thing was the only damper for me.

  • Concert was Awesome..but I had some concerns

by PurfectSmile on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I initially thought the headliner for the show was going to beEric Benet, that was the sole reason behind me buying the tickets, so I was a little dissapointed that Eric did not perform last. I guess Mint Condition was the headliner. I felt that Eric could have performed longer or at least he could have finished singing the songs. He would sing the first half and then move to the next one. I was a little dissappointed in that though; however he WAS GREAT!!! I wish he could sing at my wedding, whenever that happens. Ruben Studdard was great. I did not think he would be that good, even though he has an awesome voice, I wasn't expecting greatness. He blew me away. I would see him again. Now Mint Condition, I have always been a fan, but last night made me fall in love with them all over again. I love their new songs and that BAND!! There are no words for how great they were. OMG!! I was blown away with their talent. I love the new look and the new sound they they have on their tracks. Overall the concert was a success and I would definitely see all of them again. It was a great trio.

  • Excellent

  • A Night For Surprises!

by Germani on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The total show was great! From Rueben to Eric Benet then Mint Condition. Each act offers a different kind of mood for each individual music ability. Rueben was a class act with a variety of great vocals. His backup singers are awesome. They have a deep richness in their individual voices. Eric Benet is so cool and gorgeous within himself. The outfit was charming and the w hite glasses and shoes only complimented it. His vocals were like a dream of smoothness/love/peace/sexy/love/blending of tracts along with his keyboard-guitar player were fantastic. Wish he ha backup singers. If you every need any Eric my daughter and I are available. You can use my email is let me know if you are interested in us being your backup singers! They would have added a lady's touch for your staqge performance. We really sound good together. Mint condition was the funkiest group that I have seen in a long time. They reminded me of Sly &Family Stone!. Stoackley is live/on staqge/ out of the box and fun to watch. I LOVE HIM! Wonderful stage performance. Entire group is entertaining and gifted with so much talent. Didn't know the group is so young eventhough you came out in the 90's. Loved the entire show!

  • All men

by BigMammaT on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Impressed that show started on time! Was impressed with Ruben's range and stage presence. Enjoyed songs from his album. Fully understand that his singing background is limited and doesn't have enough songs of his own, and had to resort to singing Luther. He sounded good and I wish there could have been more Ruben. Eric Benet. So sexy. So sexy that I laughed in forgiveness when he admitted to forgetting the words to a song. I could forgive him for that because he went back to songs from earlier albums. I enjoyed when he allowed us to sing along with him. Did I say sooooo sexy. Mint Condition was ok. The only song I knew was Pretty Brown Eyes (if that is even the name of the song). Lots of theatrics. Jumbing up and down on stage. Falling to the floor while playing the guitar. The drum riffs where nice. What is there not to like about drum solos.

  • Terrible Show-Benet Stunk

by DeanRouse on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

This was one of the worst managed shows I've ever attended. Eric Benet had no band & was singing from pre-recorded tracks & forgot the lyrics to some of his own music. However, he was allotted the most stage time. Mint Condition, who were the headliner, had limited stage time, and didn't sing some of their biggest hits.
